Because she was preoccupied with business matters, Li Aili was delighted to see the elves.
But it was truly terrible that these tall, handsome men with pointed ears were riding war deer, carrying quivers and longbows, with their swords pointed at the Duke and his knights.
Li Aili quickly played the "family card":
"I'm Alice's older sister, the flower fairy. I'd like to ask her for a small favor. I really don't mean anything by it!"
She trotted up behind the Duke, peeked out, and spoke to the Elf King riding the giant stag* (Note 1).
The Elf King, whose face had been grim and murderous, instantly melted away upon hearing these words.
Her smile, bathed in sunlight, revealed eight perfectly white and even teeth.
He dismounted from the giant deer and took a few steps forward.
This prompted the Duke to raise his sword, a silent warning to the elf before him.
"So it's you, sister. My fiancée Alice often talks about you."
Li Aili, the Duke: "..."
This elf's ability to change expressions is comparable to that of a Sichuan opera master.
Li Aili offered him a way out, saying, "I've heard Alice talk about you a lot too."
The Elf King smiled slightly, "Sister."
Li Aili: "?"
The Elf King was as tall as the Duke, with long legs and a narrow waist, and long platinum-gold hair adorned with a golden laurel crown.
“My name is Fisheranki* (Note 2) Tankar, King of Tankar Forest, King of Tankar Elves.”
The elegant Elf King said in a gentle tone, "I am relieved if Alice is with my sister."
He smiled gently at Arthur Cold Jade, "This must be my brother-in-law."
"We became friends after a fight, I hope my brother-in-law won't take offense." Elves are indeed natural-born etiquette masters, the darlings of nature.
Arthur Cold Jade swiftly sheathed his sword.
Li Aili: "..." Could your stance be any more fragile?!
Like the Duke, the elf's head was unusually 'clean,' with no bubbles visible.
Li Aili withdrew her gaze from above the elf's head.
"How about we go inside the castle to talk?" Li Aili glanced at the Duke and, after receiving his approval, took the initiative to invite him.
The Elf King smiled slightly, accepted the invitation, and left the royal guards he had brought outside the castle.
He didn't want to embarrass his 'brother-in-law,' whom he had only known for less than five minutes.
Ten minutes later, King Tankar, accompanied only by two bodyguards, sat in the castle's highest-level reception room.
The magnificent hall showcased the power and wealth of the castle's owner.
Although Li Aili was worried about the flower fairy's abnormal state, there was something more important to do.
"So, the reason I called Alice here is that I have a favor to ask."
Li Aili recounted the difficulties she encountered in the Kettle Forest.
The Elf King listened to Li Aili's words with a polite smile.
"Oh, I see." He spoke softly, no longer as cold as the wind.
“You are Alice’s sister, so you are my sister too,” the Elf King said with a smile.
"The tree spirit really likes the plants we grow. How about I take Alice back and immediately send a batch of crops to Sister Ellie?"
Li Aili: "No, no, no, how can I let you deliver things for free?"
The Elf King smiled slightly and crossed his long legs.
"If you feel bad about it, sister... I've heard Alice mention that you have a very 'miraculous potion' here. Would I have the honor of seeing it?"
Li Aili: "..."
She probed, "You also want to buy... that 'medicine' that Alice often comes to buy?"
Furthermore, he politely restrained himself and did not look at the elf's lower body.
The elf asked with great interest, "Oh? What kind does she usually buy?"
Li Aili said in a serious tone: "She often buys 'healing potions'."
"But now these are all designated as military-grade alchemical potions, and I only have enough to supply the Duke's knights."
The Elf King's smile remained unchanged. "Oh? Let me guess why."
"Because of those tree spirits? They have the raw materials you desperately need... for making potions?"
Li Aili looked like she had seen a ghost.
The Elf King smiled and said, "This isn't difficult to solve. As my sister knows, we are wood-type elves skilled in planting, perhaps..."
“Ellie, the Elf King must be very worried about his fiancée. Why don’t you go and tell Alice that her fiancé is here?”
The Duke stared at the elven king before him.
Li Aili was taken aback, but quickly realized that the Duke was trying to send her away so he could speak with Fisheranki alone.
“That’s right! You two chat, I’ll go get Alice.”
The Elf King politely rose and did not sit down again until Ellie left the study.
"Brother-in-law, is there something you want to say to me privately?" the elf asked gently.
The Duke scoffed, "Still pretending?"
Upon hearing this, the smile vanished instantly from his handsome, elfin face.
The Elf King coldly surveyed the human duke seated in the main seat.
"Since that's the case, I'll get straight to the point: bring my fiancée back. Name your terms. Don't interfere with anything else."
...
Li Aili entered the room. "Alice, is that elf named Fisheranki Tankar really your fiancé?"
She found this matter very strange; the flower fairy seemed to be the kind of 'white dragon in the waves' who would never enter the grave of marriage, as long as she was in love.
The news of her engagement came as a huge surprise.
Inside the house, Ba Jin was squatting in the corner, about to cry his eyes out.
"Awoooooo~ You actually intend to stay true to one person forever~~~ You're no longer the Alice we knew, waaaaaah, you have no heart, you flower fairy~~"
