Chapter 125 is done.

Chapter 125 is done.

"That's disgusting."

Fu Qinghuai watched as the disgusting lump of flesh, which he had casually grabbed with his ghostly power, suddenly froze in mid-air, motionless.

The people above stopped screaming and just stood there, frozen.

Then, something strange happened.

The sarcoma began to change color at a visible rate, from dark red to black, and slowly turned grayish-white, like plaster that had been left out for a long time.

Even the green lantern in the middle was almost completely dark, and the patterns on the lampshade were blurred.

Fu Qinghuai walked over and gently poked the lantern, which had become brittle and hard, with his finger.

"Clatter."

A soft sound.

The entire tumor, along with the lantern, shattered like a hollow lump of mud that had been smashed on the ground, turning into a pile of fine, grayish-white powder that scattered all over the floor.

A few tiny specks of light, about the size of millet grains and of slightly different colors, floated up from the pile of powder, swaying weakly.

Fu Qinghuai looked at the few points of light, paused for a moment, and then blew a breath.

A gentle breeze carried the tiny specks of light towards the wall where Xie Xun and the others had left. The specks of light touched the wall and disappeared in a flash.

After doing all this, Fu Qinghuai looked down at his chest.

There is a trace of warmth left by Xie Xun there.

His lips twitched, his figure slowly faded, and finally disappeared as if melting into the air.

All that was left on the ground was a pile of grayish-white powder.

...

Outside the laboratory building, Xie Xun and his friends finally managed to break through a rusty iron gate, tumbling and scrambling onto the playground.

Several people lay on the grass, panting heavily, as if they had lost their souls.

After catching his breath, Xie Xun immediately turned back to look at the laboratory building.

The building, which had been flashing green lights just moments before, gradually went dark, floor by floor, until the entire building was completely dark and as quiet as the other buildings next to it.

There was a small golden dot that seemed to flash briefly near one of the windows on the fourth floor.

Immediately afterward, the air around Xie Xun swayed, and Fu Qinghuai was standing there. He patted the dust off his clothes and walked up to Xie Xun.

"nailed it."

Fu Qinghuai spoke as casually as if he had already eaten dinner, "The filth inside has been cleaned up, so there shouldn't be any problems from now on."

Xie Xun looked at him without saying anything, but simply looked him up and down to make sure that not a single hair on his head was out of place.

Zhou Wei, who was standing next to him, propped himself up on his knees, glanced at the dark laboratory building, then at the composed Fu Qinghuai, and after a long pause, finally asked, "...Is it really solved?"

"Hmm." Fu Qinghuai responded, but his gaze remained fixed on Xie Xun, his face seeking praise.

Lin Huairou also got up, brushed the grass clippings off her skirt, still shaken.

"My goodness, I'll have to think twice before taking on any more school jobs... This is more tiring than catching ten vengeful ghosts."

As she spoke, she looked at Fu Qinghuai with a hint of lingering fear and genuine admiration in her voice, "Luckily, you were there to keep things in order. The commotion inside just now... tsk, if it were just the few of us, we might have been in deep trouble tonight."

She meant it sincerely.

Anyone with eyes could see how terrifying the yin energy that just erupted in the building was.

The fact that Fu Qinghuai could resolve the situation so calmly only proves that this person's strength is unfathomable.

Ah-Can, still shaken, looked at Fu Qinghuai and asked, "Brother Fu, are those ghostly things really hard to kill?"

Fu Qinghuai smiled but didn't elaborate: "Just leave it like that, tear it down."

He brushed it off and then asked, "How's the director?"

Liu Xiuyuan helped the still-shaken A-Can over. A-Can's face was still pale, but her eyes were much clearer. "Director Wang just woke up briefly, then fainted again. The ambulance is on its way."

As they were talking, the ambulance drove into the campus with its lights flashing.

Medical staff rushed over with a stretcher and helped Director Wang and A-Can onto it.

Director Wang groggily opened his eyes again on the stretcher, mumbling, "Staircase... Thirteen..."

She was gently comforted and wheeled away by the medical staff.

Zhou Wei went over to explain the situation, and Lin Huairou and Liu Xiuyuan also went to help.

Only Fu Qinghuai and Fu Qinghuai remained on the playground.

A cool night breeze blew by, carrying the scent of grass and earth, completely dispelling the damp and foul smell in the laboratory building.

"Hands," Xie Xun suddenly spoke.

Fu Qinghuai paused for a moment, then took his hand out of his pocket and held it out in front of him. In the moonlight, the newly grown skin on his fingertips was particularly noticeable, pink and tender, contrasting sharply with the pale skin around him.

"It's just a little scrape," Fu Qinghuai tried to pull his hand back, "It'll be fine soon."

Xie Xun didn't let him pull it away; instead, he grasped his wrist. His palm was warmer than Fu Qinghuai's skin, and his fingertips gently touched the new skin.

Does it hurt?

"It hurts, Xunxun~"

Fu Qinghuai's heart fluttered at his action, and he grabbed Fu Qinghuai's hand in return, scratching his palm with his fingertips: "But if you blow on it, it won't hurt anymore."

Xie Xun: "..."

He withdrew his hand, turned and walked out of the school, his ears slightly red in the moonlight.

Fu Qinghuai chuckled and followed, taking two steps to be side by side with him, their arms touching.

"It's really nothing,"

His voice softened a bit, "It's just that the lantern's resentment is a bit dirty. If it gets on you, it'll just peel off a layer of skin and be fine. It's even lighter than a scalded blister."

Xie Xun hummed in agreement, but didn't stop walking.

The two walked in silence for a while. When they were almost at the school gate, Xie Xun suddenly asked, "Those few...did they leave?"

He didn't say who it was, but Fu Qinghuai knew.

"They've been seen off."

Fu Qinghuai said, "There are only a few traces of souls left that haven't been completely polluted, living in a daze. Keeping them around is just suffering. Let them go wherever they should go."

He paused, then turned to look at Fu Qinghuai: "You've softened your heart?"

Fu Qinghuai did not deny it, but only said, "They are also victims."

"So I didn't let them be completely destroyed."

Fu Qinghuai spoke casually, yet with a detached air that came with the passage of time: “Everyone has their own debts, and every soul has its own path. Forcing someone to stay is not a good thing.”

Fu Qinghuai glanced at him.

Under the moonlight, Fu Qinghuai's profile was clearly defined. Although he spoke in a cold manner, his eyes were calm.

Perhaps this is how a ghost who has lived for thousands of years views the world.

The two left the school gate and walked along the quiet street toward the paper craft shop.

The streetlights cast long shadows, and occasionally a car returning home late would whiz by.

Are you hungry?

Fu Qinghuai asked, "It's already very late."

Xie Xun paused for a moment, realizing that his stomach was indeed empty.

"Let's go back and make some noodles."

"Okay, I'll make it for you."

Fu Qinghuai readily agreed, "Add two eggs."

Turning the corner, the old-fashioned storefront of the paper craft shop is right in front. The convenience store next door is still lit up, and the proprietress is dozing behind the counter.

Everything seemed to have returned to an ordinary night.

But Xie Xun knew that while the Liu family lantern had dealt with one of its clones, the main body was still hiding in the shadows.

The resentment that was forcibly dispersed on campus was only temporarily quelled.

He subconsciously touched the ancient jade fragment on his neck.

Suddenly, Fu Qinghuai reached out and put his arm around his shoulder, pulling him closer to him.

"Don't think about it," Fu Qinghuai's voice rang in my ears, warm and gentle. "Rest today. We can talk about anything, no matter how big, tomorrow."

His arms were strong and powerful, and the coolness emanating from his body through his clothes was strangely reassuring.

Xie Xun stiffened slightly, but ultimately did not push him away.

The two walked side by side into the paper craft shop.
