Chapter 67: Xunxun finally discovers her husband's good qualities?

Chapter 67: Xunxun finally discovers her husband's good qualities?

Wen Xubai's eyes suddenly bulged out, his face turned from deathly pale to a horrifying bluish-purple, and his hands futilely reached for his neck.

"Tsk." Fu Qinghuai narrowed his peach blossom eyes, and a black aura, sharp as a blade, swiftly slashed towards the red line.

Almost simultaneously, Xie Xun pointed his fingers like a sword, and a life-saving talisman that had been held between his fingertips struck Wen Xubai's brow first, turning into a beam of light.

"Bang!"

The golden light of the talisman collided violently with the invisible force, producing a muffled thud. The red thread snapped instantly, turning into ashes.

Wen Xubai collapsed to the ground with a thud, coughing violently and gasping for breath; his life had been saved.

Seeing this, Xie Xun breathed a sigh of relief. Just as he was about to ask who this Mr. Liu was, he saw that when Wen Xubai raised his head again, his eyes had completely lost their focus.

He looked at Xie Xun, then suddenly grinned foolishly, drool dripping from the corner of his mouth. He clapped his hands and muttered something silly, his words sounding somewhat unpleasant.

"I won! I finally won an award!"

Wen Xubai seemed lost in his own world, sometimes gesturing wildly as if he were standing on a podium under the spotlight, and sometimes curling up and kowtowing to the wall in pleading, "Choose me... this time you should choose me... I acted better than him! Why don't you choose me!"

He kept repeating words like "Best Actor" and "awards," his hands flailing wildly in the air as if trying to grasp the trophy that was always just one step away.

"Hehe...Best Actor...I'm the Best Actor!"

Wen Xubai huddled in the corner, rehearsing his award speech to the air over and over again, sometimes ecstatic, sometimes weeping bitterly.

Xie Xun stood still, quietly watching this scene.

Mr. Liu acted too quickly.

He thought he would just stand by and watch, but somehow, he felt a sudden prick in his chest, not painful, but heavy and uncomfortable.

I can't quite describe the feeling.

It's not out of sympathy, it's just that I feel... it's pretty boring.

A person used every means to climb the social ladder, only to end up like this.

He thought of Lu Haowen, who was still lying in the room on the second floor, looking like he had gone mad. The two were exactly the same, both pitiful people.

But who in this world isn't pitiful?

Ultimately, it's all a path one chooses. Since you've made the choice, you have to bear the consequences. There's nothing to pity about.

Even so, he couldn't bear to look at Wen Xubai's expression any longer and turned his face away. He took out his phone and called the director directly; fortunately, the director wasn't resting either.

"Hey, director. Wen Xubai's also having some issues; he's not quite right in the head...yes, similar to Lu Haowen. Could you bring two people over to handle this?"

After hanging up the phone, he looked at the erratic Wen Xubai, his gaze sweeping over the messy table where his cigarette pack and lighter were still lying.

For some reason, Xie Xun reached out and took it, pulling one out and putting it in his mouth.

He pressed the lighter several times before a flame appeared, and he frowned as he took a puff.

The expensive tobacco smell was pungent, rushing into his throat and causing him to cough uncontrollably, his eyes welling up with tears.

Suddenly, a soft laugh came from behind.

Fu Qinghuai pressed closer, black mist swirling around him, his cool embrace encircling him from behind, his arms naturally encircling his waist, his chin resting gently on his shoulder, "Xunxun, if you can't smoke, don't force yourself."

As he spoke, he reached out and snatched the cigarette from between his fingers. With a casual flick of his wrist, the flame went out, and he tossed it into the ashtray.

Only Wen Xubai's delirious ramblings remained in the room. He suddenly remembered what this person looked like when he first met him in the coffee shop.

His smile was gentle and polite, and when he spoke of Lu Haowen, he looked worried, as if he deeply loved the other person.

But who could have imagined that there was such a scheme behind it all?

"Are you feeling unwell?" Fu Qinghuai's voice rang in her ears, and she tightened her grip on his arm.

Xie Xun didn't speak or react in any other way.

Fu Qinghuai turned him around, his peach blossom eyes looking straight into his eyes, "Xunxun, this is the path they chose, it is their destiny, it has nothing to do with whether you appear or not. You are not them, there is no need to compare yourself with them."

Seeing that Xie Xun was still pursing his lips, Fu Qinghuai suddenly bent down and picked him up in a princess carry.

"What are you doing!" Xie Xun exclaimed in surprise.

"Take my wife back to rest, please."

Fu Qinghuai picked him up and walked out, completely ignoring Wen Xubai who was still going crazy behind them, saying with an air of superiority, "There's nothing to see in this kind of show."

"Put me down."

"I won't let go."

"Fu Qinghuai!"

"I'm here~"

Xie Xun suddenly felt a little tired and didn't want to push him anymore. "Never mind, let's leave it at that."

Xie Xun was carried downstairs by him. The night breeze was cool and refreshing on his face, finally easing the heavy feeling weighing on his heart. He didn't struggle, which was unusual for him. He let his tense body relax a little and buried himself in Fu Qinghuai's arms.

Although the ghost was cold and aloof, it inexplicably made him feel somewhat at ease.

Listening to Fu Qinghuai's heartbeat, Xie Xun couldn't help but curse himself for being crazy, actually seeking a sense of security from this thousand-year-old ghost.

But he had experienced too many messy things tonight, leaving him inexplicably exhausted, both physically and mentally, so tired that he didn't even want to move his fingers.

Never mind, I'll just consider this a place to rest for a while.

Xie Xun closed his eyes and thought, anyway, we'll all go our separate ways when it gets light. It's just a little indulgence now and then; he won't stay in that state forever.

But as soon as I closed my eyes, all sorts of random thoughts rushed into my mind.

He had just been thinking a lot. He was thinking about how he had been inexplicably placed in this huge scheme, pushed to investigate the Liu family's affairs, break the formation, and even... inexplicably entangled with this evil spirit.

So, will he one day end up like Wen Xubai, fighting with all his might only to end up disgraced and ruined?

Or like Lu Haowen, who is used and then discarded?

Fu Qinghuai, with his keen senses, immediately noticed something was wrong with the person in his arms and lifted them up slightly. His peach-blossom eyes narrowed slightly, a faint glimmer of light shimmering in them, and he uttered a seemingly inexplicable remark.

"Xie Xun, you are different from them."

"What's different?" Xie Xun asked instinctively.

"Wen Xubai seeks fame and fortune, while Lu Haowen seeks true feelings."

Fu Qinghuai's voice was unusually serious, "And you..."

After he finished speaking, he suddenly lowered his head and gently pressed his forehead against Xie Xun's, his bright peach blossom eyes meeting the gaze of the person in his arms. Gone was his usual frivolous demeanor; he was simply looking at him intently.

They were so close that Xie Xun could even see his own stunned face reflected in those eyes.

Oh no.

Xie Xun's heart skipped a beat, as if someone had lightly squeezed his heart, which then started pounding wildly, making his chest numb and his ears ring.

There was no evil magic, no love potion, no excuse; he was as clear-headed as could be right now.

But right now, he's even more...excited than before.

The moment the thought came to mind, he froze, his body tensed up, and he didn't know what to do with his hands and feet.

He suddenly realized that his feelings for Fu Qinghuai seemed to have changed.

Fu Qinghuai immediately noticed the body in his arms suddenly stiffen, and when he heard the pounding heartbeat, the corners of his mouth turned up.

He deliberately leaned close to Xie Xun's reddened ear and lowered his voice.

"Searching,"

He gently kissed the other's lips, his breath, carrying a smile, brushing against the earlobe. "Finally realized how good your husband is?"
