Chapter 435: Hitting a Wall
Song Zhiyuan did not answer Professor Zhou's question. Instead, he closed the door and pulled down the curtains.
Professor Zhou was stunned.
For a moment, I was a little confused. What could be so worthy of Song Zhiyuan pulling the curtains to talk about? Besides, we were all colleagues.
Professor Zhou had been her partner since entering the lab. Blue Sky Lab's credentials weren't enough to tempt Professor Zhou to betray her. Song Zhiyuan didn't intend to hide this and handed the two files to him. "The money wasn't approved, and our proposal was leaked."
"How is this possible?" Professor Zhou looked incredulous, but after seeing Song Zhiyuan giving him the file, his expression became even uglier.
The directions of attack submitted in the two documents were almost exactly the same, and the other party was only one day ahead of them. How could there be such a coincidence in the world?
"We researchers are all veterans of the lab, so it's unlikely that anyone would defect to Blue Sky Labs."
Even though the facts were solid and the evidence was right in front of him, he still refused to believe that their people would actually betray him.
"Professor Zhou, don't be so naive. What if someone offers enough benefits?" Song Zhiyuan turned the teacup in his hand, his eyes deep.
If enough benefits are given, then everything will be fine.
Professor Zhou thought for a moment and asked suspiciously, "Professor Song, could it be that Jiang Li? He broke into our lab before and looked around. Maybe he stole the plan when we weren't paying attention."
Jiang Li should have some relationship with Principal Gu.
Since it is related to the teacher, it shouldn't be so confusing.
Song Zhiyuan shook his head. "No, maybe it's someone from our laboratory."
Compared to Jiang Li, Song Zhiyuan believed that it was someone inside their laboratory.
Song Zhiyuan thought of another important matter and asked, "By the way, have you found the cause of the previous alarm problem in the laboratory defense system?"
Professor Zhou thought about it for a moment and immediately understood that Song Zhiyuan suspected that their plan had been stolen at that time.
"I checked carefully at the time and there was nothing wrong with the defense system, nor could I find out why it suddenly failed."
No problems were found, so Professor Zhou no longer paid attention to the defense system.
Professor Zhou looked at Song Zhiyuan and asked tentatively, "Professor Song, do you want to ask the engineering department to come and investigate the cause of the sudden malfunction of the defense system?"
Song Zhiyuan nodded in agreement.
Associate Professor Zhou asked tentatively, "Professor Song, what should we do next?"
"The school won't invest in us. You guys start preparing first. I'll find another way to get the investment." Song Zhiyuan pinched his brows with a headache.
Before Professor Zhou left, Song Zhiyuan spoke again, "Don't spread this matter outside for now."
So as not to alert the traitor.
Professor Zhou immediately nodded in agreement.
After Professor Zhou left, Song Zhiyuan stared at the two files in front of him and fell into deep thought.
In the next few days, Song Zhiyuan and Principal Gu separately walked among the investors, but none of them were willing to invest in a project that was inherently risky.
They overlap with the Blue Sky Lab project, and the subsequent race is about time, to see who can overcome these difficulties first and hold a project launch conference first. If they fall behind, the investors' money will be almost wasted.
So it is understandable that they are unwilling to build their money on risky projects.
Although they knew that the plan was 100% stolen, they had no evidence and could not guarantee that the other party would not be able to overcome these problems.
It was already late when Song Zhiyuan came out of Principal Gu's office with a dejected look on his face.
The employees have all gone home and the campus is quiet.
Song Zhiyuan sat on the stone bench and looked up at the sky.
Then she took out her cell phone from her pocket and checked the savings she had accumulated over the years.
She had a high salary, but the savings she had accumulated over the years were not much. At that time, the studio fees for appearing on variety shows were only half of what other artists received because she was an amateur, and the total amount did not exceed three million.
It is not enough for investment at all.
She pinched her eyebrows with a headache.
There was a sound of footsteps behind her. Song Zhiyuan turned around and saw a tall figure standing behind her, covering her in shadow. Her sight slowly moved upwards. She saw the man wearing a black woolen coat with a light grey sweatshirt lining, and then a familiar face appeared.
Perhaps because he had been filming in the mountains for too long, there was still some stubble on the man's face.
"Why is Jing Mo here?" Song Zhiyuan looked surprised.
Before this, Shen Jingmo had never said he wanted to come back.
Shen Jingmo sat down on the bench next to Song Zhiyuan, "I didn't tell you in advance because I wanted to give you a surprise.
I went home, cooked dinner, and waited for you for a long time, but you didn't come back. I called but you didn't answer, so I was worried and came to check on you."
Song Zhiyuan turned on her phone again and saw two missed calls from Shen Jingmo.
Shen Jingmo was afraid that she was busy, so after calling twice and no one answered, he came over.
Shen Jingmo was keenly aware of his wife's mood and asked, "Yuanyuan, why are you sitting here instead of going home?"
Song Zhiyuan put her hand into his palm and leaned her head on Shen Jingmo's shoulder. "I started a new research and development project recently. I'm a little tired. I want to sit here and rest for a while before going back."
Shen Jingmo squeezed Song Zhiyuan's palm and held her in his arms. "If you're tired, take a break and get back to work when you're fully charged."
"Okay." Song Zhiyuan leaned in his arms and sat in the cold wind for a long time until she sneezed.
Shen Jingmo was afraid that Song Zhiyuan would get sick, so he quickly took everyone away from the campus.
When they got home, the prepared food was already cold. Shen Jingmo arranged for his wife to rest on the sofa while he went to the kitchen to heat up the food.
The cell phone suddenly rang in the quiet air.
After taking a look at the caller ID, Song Zhiyuan glanced towards the kitchen and then walked to the back garden.
She had called Mr. Zhang before, but Mr. Zhang didn't answer.
As soon as the call was connected, Mr. Zhang's warm voice came, "Director Song, how did you find time to call me? Do you have any important instructions?"
"Mr. Zhang, you're such a joker. I don't have any instructions, but I have something I'd like to ask you for help with. I wonder if you can help."
"Director Song, what are you talking about? As long as it's your business, how can I not help you?" It was obvious from Mr. Zhang's tone that he was deliberately being polite.
Song Zhiyuan fiddled with the rose petals stained with crystal dew. "I have an agricultural research project here. I wonder if Mr. Zhang is interested in investing. If so, I'll bring it over to you tomorrow to show you."
"It's an agricultural research project." Mr. Zhang had heard about the overlapping projects between the two laboratories recently, and he immediately changed his tone and continued, "If it were a few days ago, I would definitely agree to Director Song, but I just invested in other projects recently, and I'm a bit short of funds.
Thank you Director Song for thinking of me. I'll wait for next time. I will definitely invest next time."
