Chapter 141 A Warm Dinner (2/2)

Maybe everyone has had the experience of being patted to sleep by their mother when they were young. Chen Shuyun just did this.

Su Ying turned around quickly, thinking that Chen Shuyun had been woken up by her.

But Chen Shuyun's eyes were closed and her breathing was even. She was clearly still asleep.

Su Ying's mood was complicated, warm, but also sad.

Su Jianshe was not nice to them before. Su Ying was raised by Chen Shuyun alone. There must have been countless days and nights in the past when she coaxed Su Ying to sleep like this.

She bit her lip and murmured softly.

"Mom, I will definitely let you live a good life, I promise."

Su Ying was woken up by the crowing of a rooster.

She opened her eyes and looked around. Even with the curtains drawn, it seemed still dark outside, so she pulled the quilt over her head and continued to sleep.

She heard the sound of Chen Shuyun getting up next to her and muttered something.

"Mom, it's not daybreak yet, go back to sleep."

But she fell asleep later and had no idea that Chen Shuyun had gotten up and relit the braziers that had been extinguished last night, placing one in each room.

It was very cold in the house in the morning. Their place was at the junction of the south and the north. The temperature in winter was not very low, but it could reach below zero, but it didn't snow.

Gu Jinghong and Du Feng were both light sleepers, and the constant crowing of roosters made it impossible for them to fall asleep.

Not long after Chen Shuyun got up, the two of them also got up. Gu Jinghong pushed the wheelchair into the room and looked at Su Ying.

Seeing that she had her head covered, he pulled the quilt down for her, fearing that she would suffocate.

But just as he pulled it down, Su Ying grabbed it and covered her head with it again.

"Su Ying, aren't you feeling suffocated? Isn't it hard to breathe?"

No one paid any attention to him. Su Ying was sleeping like a dead pig and could not hear him talking.

Gu Jinghong was worried and pulled the quilt away from her again, but Su Ying seemed to be going against him and covered her again.

Finally, Chief Gu compromised and said that if she liked to be covered, then she could be covered. He just opened a gap on the side for her to let air in and prevent her from suffocating.

He pushed the wheelchair out and quietly closed the door of Su Ying's room.

By this time, the sky was already getting light, and a man's voice was heard from the yard.

Du Feng pushed Gu Jinghong out and saw a middle-aged man wearing a navy blue hat and a blue cloth jacket, standing in the yard.

Chen Shuyun came out from the south and was surprised to see him.

"Third brother, why are you here?"

Seeing that she was carrying so many things in her hands, the middle-aged man reached out to take a bag and said as he walked into the house.

"I was herding cattle this morning when I heard some women in the village say you were back. Didn't I drive the cattle back to come to you first?"

Chen Shuyun smiled.

"Well, I came back late yesterday. It was dark when I got back. It was too late to clean up by the time I got home, so I didn't go to see you. Brother, sit there. I'll pour you a glass of water."

Chen Shuyun's family has a few glass water cups with red flower prints on them. Her parents bought them for her when she and Su Jianshe got married.

She poured a cup of hot water from the thermos for Chen Sanqiang.

Chen Sanqiang took it, took a sip, and put it on the small table next to him.

Chen Shuyun seemed to remember something and hurried over.

"By the way, we also brought back milk powder. I'll give you some. It's delicious."

She hurried back to the inner room to find milk powder.
