Chapter 146: Returning the Old Sow

Chapter 146: The Old Sow

Zhuzi's mother smiled awkwardly, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Well, you said before that you would only rent it for one month, so I prepared a month's worth of food for the old sow. But she's been here for three months now, and I don't have much food at home. I can't do anything about it."

Su Ying calmed down. Their family did help take care of the pig for two more months, but the old sow must have also helped their family suckle the piglets for two months.

With the sow's milk, how much money can Zhuzi's family save on the piglets' goat milk?

Even if newborn piglets only drink milk for a few days, the cost is definitely much greater than feeding an old sow.

Although she suffered a little loss, she did not act aggressively and just said.

"Okay, let the old sow out. I'm going to chase her away today."

When Zhuzi's mother heard this, her face became even uglier. She looked at the old sow lying there and smiled at Su Ying.

"Su Ying, this old sow has been in my house for two months and has gotten used to the house. You may not know, but it ran away once before, but it found its way back home again."

Su Ying's voice turned cold.

"So what do you want to say? Just because the old sow recognizes her home, you want to say it's yours?"

Zhuzi's mother quickly waved her hands.

"No, Su Ying, you misunderstood. How could I do that? I didn't say it was my pig. It's just winter now, and your pigpen is too cold. Just let it stay here for now. I can help you feed it for a while."

"Mom, what are you doing? Why haven't you driven the old sow over yet? My grandma said it's time for the piglets to feed."

A half-grown boy ran in from outside the door. He was wearing a thick cotton-padded jacket with some mud spots on his body. He was holding a wooden stick in his hand. His nose was covered with snot and his cuffs were black.

Zhuzi's mother's face changed, and she pulled the child over and slapped him twice on the butt.

"What are you yelling about? Can't you let your grandma wait a moment? What are you doing here?"

The child was dazed after being beaten, but he didn't cry. He sniffed his nose, said "oh", and ran away again with the stick.

When Zhuzi's mother straightened up, she saw Su Ying looking at her.

She smiled at Su Ying.

"Children must be beaten. Otherwise they won't obey."

Su Ying didn't want to argue with her. It was meaningless and a waste of time.

"Your piglets are two months old and can eat pig food, so why are you still feeding them milk? Is this why the old sow is so thin?"

Zhuzi's mother quickly said.

"No, don't listen to the kid's nonsense. It's not true, my dear. I just can't bear to part with this pig. I've grown attached to it."

Su Ying walked over and was about to open the door of the pigpen.

"Whether you're willing to part with it or not is none of my business. It's mine. I can't just rent it for you for a month and it becomes yours, right?"

"Hey, Su Ying, stop, what are you doing?"

Zhuzi's mother rushed over to stop Su Ying.

Su Ying pushed her away, glanced at Du Feng who was about to move forward, and signaled him not to move.

Zhuzi's mother was already yelling at her husband to go up and stop Su Ying.

Seeing that the man was really coming over, Su Ying shouted coldly.

"We all live in the same village. I don't want to make things too awkward. If you insist on doing this, we're not afraid."

As she spoke, she nodded to Du Feng.

Du Feng walked straight to Zhuzi's father, pinched his shoulders and looked at him.

"You want to bully my sister-in-law? You're a grown man, and you don't feel ashamed. Who would dare to deal with a family like you? I rented the pig to you, and you don't want to return it? If this is reported to the Public Security Bureau, you will be arrested."

Both of Zhuzi's parents' expressions changed.

"What?"

Zhuzi's mother immediately changed her tone.

"No, we really didn't think about not returning it. We were just worried that the old sow wouldn't be able to adapt. If you insist on taking her with you, then... take her with you."
