Chapter 191 Handing out flyers
Looking at her watch, there was still some time. Su Ying was pushing her bicycle and saw a mother and daughter walking towards her. She smiled and handed them a flyer.
"Sister, the shop is opening and there will be discounts. If you have time, you can go and have a look."
The woman was stunned for a moment, holding the flyer in her hand, lowered her head to read it, and asked Su Ying blankly.
"Where is this store?"
"There's a small restaurant called Chen's near No. 1 Middle School. They'll have discounts on food."
The woman seemed quite interested and asked Su Ying carefully about what activities she had. She was not very interested in soy milk and millet porridge, but she felt that it was not cost-effective to travel so far. However, when she heard that she would get half a boiled egg for free when eating noodles, her eyes lit up.
In the 1980s, eggs and meat were the most nutritious foods. Ordinary people only ate them occasionally, so giving eggs as a gift was a huge gesture.
She looked at the child beside her and asked.
"It's not based on the amount given per person, it's based on the amount given per person, right? If my child and I order two bowls of noodles, that's one egg."
Su Ying smiled and nodded.
"Yes, a bowl of noodles with half an egg."
The woman smiled and put the flyer in her pocket.
"Okay, I see. When is your opening date?"
"January 23rd. The date is written on it. Big sister, I'll be waiting for you at my little restaurant. Is this your child? She's so tall and beautiful."
Everyone likes to hear others praise their own children. The eldest sister was even happier and nodded with a smile on her face.
"Okay, I definitely have to go check it out. This is my first time seeing someone delivering eggs."
After saying goodbye to the older sister, Su Ying distributed a few more flyers. Some people didn't understand and didn't want them, but most of them would ask about the store's location and what gifts were given away.
Later, they arrived at a place with fewer people, and seeing that it was almost time to go to work, Su Ying had no time to distribute it anymore, so she rode her bike directly to the hospital.
Because she missed lunch time, there was nothing to eat in the cafeteria and most of the restaurants outside were closed.
Su Ying had no choice but to buy a bag of instant noodles at the Supply and Marketing Cooperative. Fortunately, there was a lunch box in the office, so she prepared to soak it in hot water and eat it later.
But as soon as she arrived at the hospital, she became busy again. Some patients had been waiting for her early.
She had consultation time today. She had just sat down and the patients had not come in yet when someone from the inpatient department came over.
"Doctor Su, the patient who was transferred to Beijing Hospital the day before yesterday is back again."
Su Ying frowned and looked at the nurse.
"He needs to be hospitalized again?"
"Yes, I hope you can go over there and help."
The door of the clinic was always open. The patient who was first in line waited for a while. Seeing that the nurse had gone in and not come out, he bravely walked in.
"Doctor, are you ready for work?"
The nurse was a little anxious. The family of the patient in the inpatient department was particularly difficult to deal with. They had been transferred to another hospital with great difficulty, but for some reason they came back again and asked to see Dr. Su.
She also explained to the family that Dr. Su was very busy and was in the clinic, but the family just wouldn't agree and insisted on forcing her to come.
Su Ying gestured to the patient who came in to sit down and said to the nurse.
"His condition is indeed quite serious. Let Dr. Chen arrange for him to be hospitalized first."
The nurse looked helpless.
"But we have no more beds. The one they vacated has already been occupied. If they insist on being hospitalized, we can only add another bed in the corridor."
There is a shortage of hospital beds now, and the number of patients seeking treatment has not decreased but increased. There are not enough beds for those who are discharged and cannot catch up with those who are admitted.
