The guild's rewards are quite generous: 100 gold coins for a level 15 killer crab and 20,000 gold coins for a black-armored crab.
Each team present had hunted down at least a thousand killer crabs, and the Black Armored Crab General had also hunted down one.
A few teams, such as Xueyan, Binghua, and Luanweihua, defeated more than one Black Armored Crab General.
The Phoenix Tail Flower Squad, in particular, took down two on their own and then teamed up with Snow Goose to take down three more.
That's equivalent to three and a half Black-Armored Crab Generals.
Linda suddenly felt her wallet was much fuller.
No one was unhappy about receiving gold coins, and the somber atmosphere in the hall was somewhat alleviated.
Adventurers must always look forward.
"There's one more thing."
President Viren coughed, his expression becoming much more serious: "Regarding the punishment of union supervisors Clay and Jelly."
"Clay, Jelly?"
The adventurers were puzzled when they heard the names of these two people.
Could this monster tide be related to them?
President Vilen recounted the whole story.
"Prevent Linda from reporting the monster tide to the guild leader?"
"Because they were afraid of being demoted, they concealed it again and again?"
"If we had organized this earlier, the number of adventurers who died would probably have been 50% fewer..."
Most people wore expressions of anger. The very few remaining stared gloatingly at the Clays in the corner.
Now, let alone keeping his position as supervisor, he might not even be able to walk out of jail for the rest of his life!
After listening to Viren's story, some people sighed, while others were angry.
Some blinked in confusion: Linda is so smart?
The sadness on Lia's face became more and more obvious.
Eko, standing next to her, was equally impressive.
No one around them looked at them, but they still felt uneasy.
Thoughts like, "If only I had kept Linda with me," kept popping into my head.
This time, however, Leah didn't make a scene; she quietly watched Linda's retreating figure.
If she wanted to restore their previous relationship, relying on childish antics like fooling around was definitely impossible. Leah thought to herself, she'd first become a mature adventurer, and then a captain that Linda would approve of.
Perhaps one day, we'll be able to clink glasses at the same round table again. Leah patted her cheeks, raised her wine glass, and hummed to Ike, "Let's drink!"
Aiko felt a bitter taste in her mouth; she had actually been reduced to drinking dejected wine with this short man.
Will she and Lia be the ones eating Linda's wedding candy at the wedding in the end?
This round is a toast to the losers.
On the stage, President Velen delivered his verdict against the Clay couple, holding a document from the Imperial Inspectorate, and read aloud:
"According to Article 172 of the law, if an official causes damage to the interests of an adventurer due to a serious error, he shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a minimum of 30 years! If he fails to compensate the adventurer for the loss, he shall be imprisoned for life without the possibility of commutation or parole!"
Like the Grim Reaper wielding his cold scythe, the Clay couple, held captive by Imperial guards in the corner, instantly turned deathly pale.
Jieli fainted on the spot after her vision went black.
"No—please let me explain! I didn't intend to harm many adventurers; it was just a small mistake. I shouldn't have done that!"
Clay hysterically rushed to Linda and began kowtowing frantically, the loud thuds making one's teeth ache. Clay's forehead was instantly red.
However, even the most merciful adventurer present could not forgive Clay.
If Clay hadn't been so arrogant and short-sighted as to assume the monster tide wouldn't break out, and instead had taken Linda to see Guild Master Velen... at least a thousand lives could have been saved.
"Linda, please forgive us. We are willing to start from the bottom and serve the adventurers in a down-to-earth manner. We will never again look down on adventurers because of our official airs!"
Clay screamed in terror, only realizing his mistake under the punishment of the law.
It is common practice on the mainland for some officials to look down on adventurers.
Even Rock-level captains sometimes get sarcastic remarks from guild leaders.
The reason is simple: the Adventurers' Guild is directly under the Imperial Federation and is the largest official force.
Working here offers both high salaries and high social status.
Some people will become arrogant and look down on the adventurers fighting on the front lines.
Clay's words of remorse represented not only him, but also those union leaders who had narrowly escaped disaster, all of whom were secretly reflecting on their actions over the years.
Under Clay's despairing gaze, Linda shook her head: "Go and accept your punishment. This is the price you deserve."
Guild Master Velen grabbed Clay and tossed him to the Imperial Guards: "Once you've reformed, you might even be able to return to the World Tree and be successfully reincarnated when you die!"
Clay was distraught and being dragged away by the guards when he suddenly burst into wild laughter, followed by sobbing. In this dramatic ups and downs, he went completely insane.
"The parasites in the Adventurers' Guild really need to be cleaned up." Guild Master Velen glanced meaningfully at the numerous staff members, startling them all.
Then, looking at Linda, President Vilen bowed deeply: "On behalf of the union, I apologize for this mistake."
Linda helped President Viren up.
Afterwards, the celebration banquet proceeded in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Only then did many people realize the existence of the Red-Armored Crab King and the Thousand-Faced Demon.
As Gale recounted the fierce battle, how Linda urgently delivered the message to the front lines, and how Abner, like a sword god, slew the Thousand-Faced Demon... Gale's eloquence and vivid description transported everyone to the tense battlefield, allowing them to personally experience the great battle.
