"What happened?"
Linda's heart skipped a beat, and she rushed over.
Kaphni breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him and said, "Not long after you left, that worm got restless and suddenly attacked Monica! It was faster than a rabbit. By the time I reacted, Monica's calf was already bitten!"
"Stopping the bleeding is the priority."
Linda spoke solemnly, first casting a healing spell on Monica, then frowning as she looked at the 'terrified and helpless' worm.
When the worm saw him, it was as if it had found a savior.
Like a frightened little animal, it writhed and crawled this way.
Still pretending?
No matter how you look at it, your own sister wouldn't attack Monica without a reason.
Linda's eyes were cold as she made up her mind to eliminate this monster.
"The disgust of ants fills me with murderous intent!"
Suddenly, an angry shout rang out beside Linda.
Monica pounced on the worm, frantically pounding its head with her little fists.
The worm, in pain, whimpered and thrashed about like a bull in a fight, trying to get Monica off its back.
Monica's little hands clung to the worm, refusing to come down.
This scene was exceptionally eerie.
The adorable little girl lay on the ugly bug's back, hitting it with her tiny fists and biting it with her teeth, but she wouldn't use her most powerful magic.
What Monica said just now was also very strange; she even got the grammar of the Adventurer's Common Tongue wrong.
Linda and Kaphni exchanged glances, their eyes filled with confusion: Monica, what's wrong?
"Get away from it!"
Linda hugged Monica's petite body tightly.
In contrast, the flesh worm, beaten and oozing green pus, emitted weak, feeble cries: "Eek...eeek..."
This monster seems to have quite low health.
He was almost killed by Monica, a mage, with his bare hands.
Linda looked at Monica with suspicion.
"Captain, Captain, it frightens me! It cannot be kept!"
Monica pointed at the worm with righteous indignation: "It bit me, kill it, it deserves to die!"
"Could it be an infection or poisoning?" Linda asked worriedly.
Monica is now like she has rabies, transforming from a timid little girl into someone extremely aggressive.
"Captain, quick, kill it!"
Monica aimed her small hand at the flesh worm, preparing to unleash a spell.
But perhaps due to emotional excitement, he failed to chant several times in a row.
“I’ll do it.” Kaphni rolled up her sleeves and walked towards the flesh worm.
"Waaah...waaah!"
The worm retreated in fright, its head turned toward Linda as if begging for help.
Monica saw the worm about to be killed, a look of pleasure flashed in her eyes, and her lips curled into a wide smile.
Its appearance was extremely terrifying, completely devoid of its usual cuteness.
“Hehe, hehehe...kill, kill it!” Monica said excitedly.
Linda felt a chill run down her spine when she saw Monica's appearance.
"Wait a minute," he said.
"What's wrong?" Kaphni turned around, puzzled.
Monica, standing next to Linda, was frantic, her face turning pale: "You idiot captain, kill it! Kill it! Otherwise, we'll all die!"
A subtle glint flashed in Linda's eyes as she calmly said, "There's no rush to kill the flesh worm. It's possible that it really is my sister. Let's investigate further and see if we can find any new clues."
Monica was so angry that her mouth twisted in disbelief. She snorted and headed towards the exit of the underground hall.
"Where are you going?" Linda frowned.
"To relax."
Monica said.
Watching the girl's retreating figure, Kaphni seemed to understand something.
She shuddered and looked at Linda with lingering fear: "Something seems wrong. It looks like Monica is the one with the problem."
"Let's observe for a while."
Linda turned her gaze to the trembling worm.
He approached the worm, and the worm, which had been very affectionate towards him, fled in terror.
"Dark Whip!"
A purple whip of energy shot out from the air, binding the flesh worm.
Linda found a burlap sack and put the worms inside.
He patted the bag; inside was the greasy, disgusting body of a maggot, like a lump of rotting, foul-smelling flesh.
“I won’t hurt you until I find out the truth. Just behave yourself inside and don’t cause any trouble,” Linda said.
Whether the worm understood or not, it really quieted down after he finished speaking and stopped making a fuss.
Six hours later.
Linda changed into a black trench coat commonly seen in the dark city, wore a hat, and drove away from the castle with two team members.
All the necessary investigations have been completed.
The worms were put into sacks and then locked in iron cages, posing no threat.
Linda observed that this fleshy worm's combat strength was very low, only at the level of a level five or six adventurer.
Fearing a return of the church, the group left by carriage and checked into an inn in the dark city.
It was already quite late, so Linda and the other two ate some food and prepared to rest.
It's worth mentioning that Monica's appetite has become enormous; she eats almost the same amount of food as three strong men all by herself.
The hotel is a suite with three rooms, just enough for one person.
Linda placed the iron cage containing the maggots in the living room.
He said goodnight to his teammates, turned off the light, and went back to his room.
Monica's eyes remained fixed on the worm in the cage, unblinking.
The door was closed, blocking the girl's view.
night.
The pendulum clock in the living room ticked away.
All three bedrooms were silent.
