But no matter how much she drank, Leah didn't feel the intoxication she wanted.
The image of Linda being so polite to her when she handed over the gift kept replaying in my mind.
There was also the scene of Linda and Lulu holding hands, welcoming them...
Glug glug!
Leah downed the mead in the large glass in one gulp, a slight blush rising to her cheeks.
In her drunken state, she looked at Lin Da, who was surrounded by Xueyan and the others, with blurry vision.
Many important people attended the party, all there because of Linda. This made Leah extremely envious; Linda had achieved what she had wanted to do but couldn't.
And these honors should have been hers too.
'Probably because they trust me.'
Linda's words echoed in my ears once again.
Leah slowly tightened her grip on the beer glass in her hand, and couldn't help but wonder, if she could trust Linda like the members of the Phoenix Flower team did, then would Linda have no reason to leave the team?
After careful consideration, Leah, her face drained of color, came to the conclusion: It seems, she really doesn't know!
Xueyan's team is no worse than Luanweihua's, and they have a three-year history of adventures with Linda. Why would Linda quit the team to play around when she has nothing better to do?
All the bad consequences were caused by her and Aiko and others working together.
I figured Linda wouldn't leave the team anyway, so I could use her however I wanted.
When trouble arises, complain about Linda first.
Of all the people, she complained the most.
Leah's face grew paler and paler. Only then did she realize that she had poured the most water and contributed the most effort into cultivating this bitter fruit!
Ding-a-ling~
A clear bell rang out, and the host invited by the Phoenix Flower, a handsome blond male elf, smiled and said:
"Next up is the second part of the party: ballroom dancing! Whoever draws the lucky number 1 will become Linda's dance partner and the host of the night!"
These words immediately caused a small gasp from the crowd.
Ballroom dancing is a regular part of parties.
In the mysterious continent, being skilled in ballroom dancing is a sign of being knowledgeable, cultured, and of high society.
Many single female adventurers in the hall had their eyes light up and were looking at Linda with burning eyes.
The well-fitting suit made Linda's figure appear even more upright.
Leah overheard the female adventurers whispering among themselves:
"I really wish I could be Linda's dance partner. I wish she would recruit me into the Phoenix Flower Squad."
"Keep your voice down! It'll be bad if our captain hears you!"
"Watch me use my superb dance skills to directly capture the Eye of Truth!"
Only Leah couldn't muster any enthusiasm.
She doesn't even plan to go and draw lots.
With her terrible ballroom dancing skills, she would only use her dance partner's shoes as a floorboard.
The terrible scene at the last Snow Goose advancement party is still vivid in my mind.
Lia almost tripped and fell with Linda. Their bloodied and mushy dancing skills were secretly mocked by the adventurers who attended the party for a long time, and even made it into a small section in the corner of the White Dove Morning News.
The elven host brought out a giant bucket of fortune slips, and the single adventurers lined up excitedly, all hoping for a romantic encounter.
Leah remained unmoved and continued drinking her ale.
"Can you do me a favor?"
An uninvited guest disturbed her.
Leah looked up.
It's that pink-haired idiot.
With a pitiful expression, Xilin clasped her hands together and pleaded, "If you draw number 1, trade with me, and I'll give you 10,000 gold coins."
"Ten...ten thousand?"
Leah's eyelids twitched.
She was short of money, especially after giving Linda an expensive magic watch.
After hesitating for a moment, Leah said, "Okay."
She went up to draw lots because she was short of money, unlike those vulgar female adventurers.
If she draws number 1, she'll sell to that pink-haired girl. If she doesn't, she'll cancel the dance; her ballroom dancing is still as bad as it was a year ago, and she doesn't want to embarrass herself in the middle of the hall.
As Lia passed by Eko, she noticed that Eko was biting her handkerchief, and it was so sour that she was almost in tears.
Oh... he's lame, so he can't draw lots.
That said, is Aiko really that eager to escape being single? It's just a ballroom dance.
Leah thought to herself, puzzled.
"Miss, please draw a lot." The elf host thoughtfully tilted the lot-drawing bucket.
Leah reached in and pulled out a wooden stick shaped like a popsicle stick.
It was wrapped in white paper at the bottom, which she tore open.
Many unlucky people who didn't get the number 1 wooden stick gathered around to watch.
When Leah tore open the white paper, revealing the numbers on it... a chorus of surprised exclamations rang out:
"What incredible luck!"
"Captain Leah, would you like to switch with me? I'm number 37, the famous Star-Rank Adventurer Gale."
"Trade with me! I'm number 28, Robert, a veteran Rock-class captain!"
A group of female adventurers surrounded Leah.
"Forehead..."
Leah was stunned. She had hoped to get the number 1 wooden stick, but it was just a thought; she didn't really have any hope. There were over a hundred sticks inside; how could she possibly draw number 1?
But the fact is... she got it.
The wooden skewer in her hand is number 1, which many people want!
"Make way, make way, Lia already made plans with me." Sirin squeezed in, exclaiming, "You actually got it... Here, give me this savings card, there's 10,000 gold in it."
Sirin held a savings card and handed it to Leah.
However, Leah did not answer.
"?"
Xilin looked at her, puzzled.
