Ghost Adventurer Group Villa.
Inside the conference room, the black curtains were drawn, blocking out the midday sun.
Under the dim indoor lighting, there were shelves displaying various monster heads, and aquariums housing pink tentacles that swam and writhed in the water, looking rather disgusting.
The oil paintings on the walls depict black devils grinning as they punish humans with various instruments of torture... Every object reflects the owner's unique taste.
"Aaaaaah! Linda, you bastard!"
A roar shattered the silence in the conference room.
After reading the court verdict, Kam's face turned ashen, and he tore the document in two.
He had prepared a sumptuous feast for his elder brother, Halus, and invited ten extremely beautiful elves from the tavern to enjoy it with Halus and celebrate his release from prison.
But this document shattered Cam's beautiful plans.
Not only that, the enforcement department also reopened old cases, pointing out that the Ghost Adventurers had sold substandard magic potions three years ago, causing the deaths of several adventurers.
A fine of 5 million gold coins was imposed, and Halus's sentence was extended by six months.
5 million gold coins is a considerable sum even for a steel-level adventure team!
Kam could tolerate these things.
But why was Halus's sentence extended by six months?
That gentle, kind woman who always gave the most beautiful woman to her beloved older brother had to spend her life in prison because of Linda.
This year's grandest festival, the Winter Solstice, will also be unavailable.
For adventurers in this world, Winterfell is almost as important as the Spring Festival.
On Winter Solstice, Herus could only weep behind bars.
The two brothers will not be able to go to see the fireworks display for the Winter Solstice together.
For over 40 years, my eldest brother had never missed a single one of his appointments.
Thinking of this, Kam was filled with rage.
So what if you tried to assassinate a nobody like Linda? You dared to put my brother in jail?
Killing a mere level 20 adventurer is doing you a favor!
Kam was so angry that his mouth twisted into a crook.
He looked at Rhodes with a crazed expression: "This can't be left like this, I want Linda dead!"
"We can't just let it go like this, but not now."
Rod said calmly, "The fact that Luanweihua was able to kill Rivera and the other two unscathed means she must have some hidden trump card. We've already been careless once, and we absolutely cannot repeat the same mistake."
"Our current advantage is that the Phoenix Tail Flower has not yet reached the Star Rank, so it does not pose a threat to us."
"Once the recent storm has passed, we can ambush the Phoenix Flower with our main force in the Greater Rift and make them pay a bloody price!"
"And now, the most important thing is to get Halus out of prison."
Rod analyzed methodically.
He was all muscle and gave the impression of a brute, but in reality he was meticulous and good at planning; otherwise, he wouldn't have become the leader of the Iron-class adventure team.
After listening, Kam gradually came to his senses.
"But how can we get my brother out?" Kam asked, frowning.
"If you keep doing this... and then again..."
That afternoon.
At Rod's arrangement, Cam held a press conference in the lobby on the first floor of the villa.
This ghostly vice-captain with gray, center-parted hair declared righteously:
'Linda abused her rights as a Glorious Adventurer, arresting and imprisoning Herus without any evidence. This is pure defamation! We demand a public apology from Linda, or we will send a letter to the Phoenix Flower and see them in court!'
One after another, magical cameras were snapping away at Kam.
Rhodes remained hidden behind the scenes, a cold smile on his face.
Law enforcement could not find evidence that Halus had assassinated Linda. As the matter escalated, pressured by public opinion, they had no choice but to release Halus as soon as possible.
Coincidentally, the Phoenix Flower Adventure Team also held a press conference on the same day.
"I have long heard of the Ghost Adventurer Group's formidable strength, and I, Linda, the captain of the Phoenix Tail Flower, would very much like to experience it for myself."
"One of my team members was injured after defeating an epic monster and has not yet recovered."
"Ouch, that hurts..."
"As you all have seen, my team members are in terrible condition. It breaks my heart, and I must vent my anger."
"The arena is a great place. I hope the Ghost will be generous in teaching our novice adventure team, which has just advanced to the Rock rank!"
On the third floor of the Phoenix Flower Villa, Linda stood on the platform, her eyes bloodshot, her voice stern and forceful.
Beside him was Kaphni, whose body was wrapped in bandages and who looked so weak she was about to die.
Kaphni was unharmed during the assassination attempt, but she actually suffered severe internal injuries. Linda's denunciation of the Ghosts, while not explicitly stating that Halus was the mastermind, has already revealed the answer to everyone.
Click, click, click! The flash of the magic camera kept flashing.
Linda looked at the twenty-odd reporters below the podium and smiled:
"There's no time like the present, so I think it's best if everyone joins us today to witness Luanweihua issuing a challenge to Ghost. I'm sure Ghost's Iron-Class Adventure Team won't mind Luanweihua's challenge."
The reporters' eyes lit up, sensing a hot news story.
Linda, along with Tasia, Lulu, Monica, and a group of reporters, headed in a grand procession to the Ghost Adventurers' base.
Upon arrival at the scene.
Both reporters were momentarily stunned.
What brings you all here?
As the saying goes, rivals are enemies. They secretly came to interview Linda/Kam, hoping to secretly compete with each other, give their colleagues a surprise, and win a big bonus at the end of the month.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out that his colleague was interviewing someone else on the other side.
There's an awkward feeling of being caught sneaking out.
Both sides chuckled and then pointed their dark, heavy cameras at the person in question.
