Chapter 521 First in Battle Merit, Assassinating the Witch

"The monsters killed will be recorded by the cultivation bracelet, which has an automatic identification array inside."

Teamwork in killing monsters reduces battle merits.

Encourage solo play.

In addition, the rules for this assessment prohibit internal fighting and mutual killing.

Once discovered, they will be immediately imprisoned in the Imperial Jail.

But you should understand what I really mean.

As long as it goes undetected, there's no problem.

You can use any means necessary to secure the top spot in terms of combat merit.

Lord Lengyue has only one belief—everything the strong do can be forgiven!

Spring assessments begin!

Angel's voice reverberated throughout the ancient forest.

The branches of the large tree swayed, and dust flew everywhere.

Whoosh whoosh.

The trainees shot off like arrows, heading deep into the forest.

Although there are many monsters, those above level 50 are not common.

On the other hand, even those at the "lower light rank" level can take on epic-level monsters single-handedly.

The weakness of the masses is only compared to monsters like Wogang, Oren, and Linda.

If you leave them out there, everyone is a genius adventurer.

Ancient forests are certainly dangerous, but this "cake" is only difficult to eat from the center.

The middle and outer layers are incredibly sweet and delicious.

Linda and Lia exchanged a glance, then looked at their teammates and the many members of the White Dove Alliance.

"Set off!"

In the blink of an eye, six days have passed.

Night fell in a tent deep within an ancient forest, where the light from a magic lamp cast a dim, yellow glow.

A young man with black hair used several wooden boxes as a table, spread out a map, and studied the distribution of monsters.

The members of the Phoenix Flower team were also there. Taigo was asleep on the ground, snoring loudly. The other team members sat cross-legged in meditation, with fragments of laws of different colors floating around them.

Anna sat across the "table" and pondered, "The situation isn't looking good."

"Well, there's only one day left until the end of the assessment, it'll be very difficult to catch up."

Linda said with a headache.

Judging from the cyan leaderboard generated by magic in the sky, the third place in battle merits so far belongs to Worgen, the young wolf king of the Frostwolf tribe, with 157 points.

Second place in battle merits, Linda with 203 points, [Eye of Truth].

First place in battle merits, [Scar] Oren, 240 points!

This means that in just six days, 240 monsters of level 50 or above died at Oren's hands.

It will be difficult for Linda to close the 37-point gap on the last day.

On the first day of the assessment, the monsters were caught off guard and had the easiest time to earn points. Later, however, the monsters sensed the adventurers' presence and all fled.

Although some clever monsters led their minions in a counterattack, the adventurers of the Ice Abyss were fundamentally different from those poor adventurers who entered the ancient forest to gather magical materials.

They are far ahead in terms of equipment, combat strength, and combat experience.

The monsters' resistance was futile, amounting to nothing more than being sent to their deaths.

We are now on the sixth day of the spring assessment.

Linda spent more than ten hours during the day before killing seven light-level monsters.

They were all terrified and hid.

"Oren's strength is greater than I anticipated, or perhaps he has found a treasure trove teeming with monsters."

Staring at the unfolded map, Linda pondered to herself.

It's almost impossible to catch up with Oren in a single day.

Thinking about the reward for first place, Linda sighed.

The difference between first and second place is too great.

The first place winner will be awarded a complete set of Primordial-grade equipment.

The second one, however, only has one item.

Just as he was pondering a solution, Kaphni, who was keeping watch outside, suddenly shouted, "Someone's coming! That aura should be Oren!"

"What?"

Linda's eyelids twitched.

A look of surprise appeared in Anna's eyes.

As long as Oren stays out of the way and focuses on stabilizing his battle record, that will be his priority.

Why did you come to see them? Are you so confident that you can return safely?

Linda: "How many of them came?"

Kafni, sitting outside the tent, used her level 50 rogue skill, [Full Detection], to sense her surroundings and said, "Three."

"Three? The Phoenix Tail Flower is being underestimated."

It's unclear whether Oren was reckless or simply daring.

A short while later, Oren and his two companions arrived.

"Good evening."

Oren was shirtless, wearing only black cloth trousers, with his hands in his pockets, and Alexander and Mi San behind him.

"What, aren't you going to invite us in? I paid a considerable price to find out about you."

"Please." Linda pulled back the tent flap expressionlessly.

He wanted to see what the other party was really up to.

Oren seemed oblivious to the hostile gazes of the Phoenix Flower team members, calmly walking into the tent and taking a seat.

Linda asked Tasia to pour a few glasses of water and place them in front of Oren and the other two.

Then, he glanced at Mi San, who looked uncomfortable, and Alexander, whose right arm was empty.

The three-meter-tall giant was curled up in a small tent, looking comical, but his expression was full of fear.

Mizo didn't look at himself much, probably because he was still hurt from that battle.

They were quite well-behaved, neither provoking me nor showing any repulsive expressions.

Linda became even more curious. Why were they looking for her?

Oren crossed his arms and placed them on his knees, getting straight to the point: "From now on, I will stop fighting monsters."

"What does this mean?" Linda frowned.

"It means exactly what it says. If you work a little harder, you should be able to surpass my 240 battle merits and become number one."

Why do this?

"Hehe, that's right. There's no free lunch in the Secret Realm Continent. I do need your help with something," Oren said slowly. "Are you interested in killing one of the twelve familiars of a demon?"
