Chapter 69 Linda's Night Encounter with Leah

"I guess someone's talking badly about me behind my back."

Linda wiped her nose, somewhat bewildered.

Looking ahead at the several buildings,

Besides detached luxury villas, there are also ordinary apartments here, which are much cheaper than the former.

Kayne and Orle took out a loan to buy a house here.

Upon entering the residential area, a short walk ahead reveals a massive magic fountain, its colorful lights particularly captivating.

There were many benches nearby, where adventurers gathered in twos and threes, mostly couples.

Adventurers jogging past Linda were seen, while in the square, a group of elderly adventurers were doing aerobics, and a group of children were playing and frolicking with wooden swords.

This otherworldly scene is quite similar to reality.

Linda walked straight ahead.

"Hey." Kaphni seemed to have noticed something, nudged Linda with her elbow, and nodded her chin forward.

Linda paused for a moment when she looked in the direction Kaphni pointed.

On a bench by the magic fountain sat a girl with long, fiery red hair.

It was Lia, the captain of the Snow Goose Adventure Team.

She was alone, without any teammates by her side, probably out for a walk to clear her head?

The light and shadow from the fountain fell on Leah's face, flickering and changing. Her small face stared blankly up at the night sky, looking somewhat forlorn.

Linda and Kaphni were a handsome couple, and when they passed by Lia, Lia indeed noticed them.

Lin Da pretended not to see the other person and continued walking forward as usual.

But he could feel a sharp gaze fixed on him, as if someone were pointing a sword at him.

When Leah saw the gifts Linda was carrying, her expression relaxed at first, but she was already thinking about how to refuse them.

But unexpectedly,

Linda ignored her completely!

Those gifts, it turns out, weren't for her!

Leah was already furious after her defeat on the 11th floor. Now that Linda was ignoring her, she was absolutely livid.

Meanwhile, Linda had almost walked far away when she heard someone suddenly say to her from behind:

"I did not lose."

"?"

You didn't say anything, did you?

Linda was approached and had no choice but to stop. Leaving on her own would seem too deliberate.

He looked at Leah.

Lia raised her little face, her expression stubborn, like a peacock that was covered in dust but still proud.

The girl's arms were wrapped in thick bandages, and a large pain relief patch was on her forehead. Her left hand was casually placed, her right hand was on her hip, and she was slightly tilted to the side, looking carefree and unrestrained.

"If it hurts, don't force yourself to endure it." Linda could see right through Leah's outward bravado.

This kind of person is so concerned with saving face that they suffer for it.

Even if your head were to fall off, you'd say it doesn't hurt at all.

Leah's face twitched, and she moved her hands. "It's just a minor injury. It'll heal in a few days."

That gesture seemed to be proving something.

However, his eyebrows were noticeably furrowed.

Linda pointed to the pain relief patch on her forehead: "The blood is seeping out."

Leah's face fell.

No wonder my head is spinning.

She said, "It's just a minor injury, nothing to worry about."

"Oh." Linda nodded, glancing around. Kaphni had somehow wandered off, perhaps afraid that Leah would lash out if she saw her?

This deity can be quite clever at times.

Linda left Lia behind and strode forward.

"I heard you started a team called the Phoenix Tail Flower Adventure Team?"

For some reason, Leah was unusually talkative that day.

Linda was a little annoyed, so she just grunted in response.

The repeated "uh-huh" caused the bleeding from Leah's head to increase dramatically.

She stared intently at Linda and said, word by word, "Your adventure team will never be as good as my Xueyan."

"I didn't want to compete with you!" Linda asked, puzzled. "What are you so hung up on?"

"However... in a competition, the Phoenix Tail Flower Adventure Team will not lose to any other team."

"What?! You're so arrogant!"

Leah laughed angrily, pointing at Linda and saying, "You've changed. You're not the Linda you used to be!"

In the past, Linda would have cared for her and asked about her well-being.

I'll stay with her when she's unhappy, and I can also perfectly assist the team in conquering the next level.

Linda said, "You've changed too."

Leah's eyes were firm. "I didn't."

Linda shook her head, not wanting to continue entangled with the girl, and walked away with the gifts.

In the square, many adventurers were secretly watching them.

Leah glared at the group of people warningly, then angrily clenched her fists and went back to the villa.

She came out to clear her head, but after meeting Linda, her mood worsened.

When she returned to the villa, she saw Aiko sitting on the sofa with her face covered in cucumber slices, her head tilted back, radiating a faint white magical glow, as if she were in a meditative state.

Leah poured herself a cup of coffee, held it in her arms, and said irritably, "Eiko, do you think I've changed?"

"ah?"

Aiko opened her eyes in surprise, tilted her body slightly, and looked at Leah, wondering what had triggered this powder keg this time.

She rolled her eyes and said, "No, Leah has always been Leah, she's never changed."

Lia breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

"Aiko, you really understand me."

Leah felt much better.

With a pained expression, she finished her unsweetened coffee, returned to her bedroom on the second floor, changed the pain relief patch on her forehead, then picked up her heavy sword, the Devourer of the Sun, and began practicing even more.
