Chapter 21: Mutants Attack 2
Aze acted quickly and rushed to the store door. Just as he was about to close it, a group of figures had already rushed to the door.
Their clothes were ragged, their skin was covered with festering wounds, and their eyes were bloodshot as if they were stained with blood.
But unlike ordinary zombies, these people - or creatures that were once humans - are agile and even have a certain degree of coordination.

"Go to the back!" Xiao Ran pushed the young man into the store, and he faced the mutant who climbed in from the window.
At the same time, the convenience store was in chaos. The clerk behind the counter had already hidden under the counter, trembling.
Several customers were crowded in the storage room, desperately holding onto the door.
"Wanqing!" Xiao Ran shouted while fighting the mutant, "Where is Wanqing?"
Aze got up from the ground and looked towards the back of the convenience store: "She just went to look for medicine!"
"Go find her!" Xiao Ran said in a deep voice, kicking a mutant away, "I'll hold these things back!"
Aze nodded and quickly ran to the back. The convenience store was bigger than it looked, and there was a small warehouse in the back.
He pushed open the half-open warehouse door and found Su Wanqing rummaging through the shelves.
"Sister!" Aze shouted anxiously, "We have to go! The mutants are coming!"
Su Wanqing turned around with a calm expression: "I heard it. Hurry up and help me find antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs."
"but--"
"Xiao Ran can't hold on for long alone." Su Wanqing interrupted him quickly, "We need medicine."
Aze understood what she meant and immediately joined the search. The two quickly checked the medicine rack and stuffed the useful ones into their backpacks.
The battle ahead was getting more and more intense. The roars of the mutants and the screams of the humans were intertwined, mixed with the sound of objects collapsing.
"That's enough." Su Wanqing zipped up her backpack. "Let's go back and help Xiao Ran."
The two rushed back to the front hall and were shocked by the scene before them. The convenience store was in a mess, with shelves toppled over and merchandise scattered everywhere.
Xiao Ran stood in the center, covered in blood, with several mutant corpses lying around him.
But more mutants continued to pour in and surrounded him.
"Xiao Ran!" Su Wanqing shouted and pulled out a dagger from her backpack.
Xiao Ran heard the shout and turned to take a look. This brief distraction gave a mutant an opportunity to take advantage.
The mutant jumped up and pounced on Xiao Ran's back. Xiao Ran had no time to dodge and could only raise his arms to block. The mutant's teeth bit his arm fiercely.
"Ah!" Xiao Ran cried out in pain, and with his other hand he clenched into a fist and hit the mutant's head, knocking him down.
"Xiao Ran!" Su Wanqing exclaimed and rushed forward.
But more mutants stood between them. Xiao Ran's injuries slowed him down, and the mutants seized the opportunity and rushed forward.
At this moment, Aze suddenly took a step forward and drew an arc in the air with his hands.
The water stains, drinks and mutants' blood on the floor of the convenience store suddenly gathered together as if they had life, forming a water wall in the air, blocking Xiao Ran.
The mutants hit the wall of water and were bounced back.

Aze ignored him and continued to control the water flow to form a protective barrier separating Xiao Ran from the mutants.

The pressure that Aze used to control the water flow began to weaken. The mutants felt the weakening of the barrier and attacked more fiercely.
One particularly tall mutant crashed into the wall of water, causing a splash that nearly broke through the barrier.
"Aze!" Su Wanqing saw that his face was pale and his hands began to tremble, "Hold on!"
Aze didn't answer, concentrating all his energy on controlling the water flow.
Sweat rolled down his cheeks and his lips turned white from the effort.
The last customer finally entered the passage behind the counter. Xiao Ran turned around and shouted, "Aze! Get out!"
Aze nodded and began to retreat. The moment he turned around, the water wall collapsed and the mutants rushed over with roars.
"Run!" Xiao Ran pushed Aze and faced the mutant, taking a fighting stance.
Aze staggered back behind the counter, and Su Wanqing grabbed his arm and dragged him into the passage.
Aze looked back and saw Xiao Ran knocking down a mutant with one punch, then quickly turned around and followed them into the passage.
The passage was not long, and at the end was an iron door. The customer at the front had already opened the door and rushed out.
Others followed closely behind, scrambling to escape danger.
Just as the three were about to reach the door, a scream was heard behind them.
They looked back and saw a little girl falling to the ground. Her mother tried to pull her up, but the mutants had already chased her to the entrance of the passage.
"Mom!" the little girl cried, her eyes full of fear.
Xiao Ran did not hesitate at all and turned back immediately. He rushed to the little girl, picked her up, and handed her to her mother: "Take her away! Quickly!"
The woman nodded gratefully and rushed to the exit with her daughter in her arms. Xiao Ran turned to face the mutant, but he was exhausted and the pain from his wounds slowed his reaction.
A mutant lunged at him, slicing its sharp nails across his chest, tearing at his clothes and skin.
