Chapter 9 Trading Chips
The sobs rolling in Lin Che's throat were stuck in the sound of heavy rain.
Su Wanqing hooked the edge of the vacuum packaging bag with her index finger and dangled it in the air. The synthetic steak oozed dark red blood, and oil was seeping out in the puddle.
The boy's Adam's apple couldn't help but slide up and down twice, and his eyelashes covered with mud and water trembled like dragonfly wings in a rainstorm.
Click
The light sound of the metal mechanism opening mixed with the thunder. Su Wanqing turned her wrist, and the moment the Tang sword was pulled out of the jade bracelet space, it tore through the rain curtain, and the rain water accumulated on the blade spine splashed along the blood groove onto Lin Che's face.
The boy's pupils suddenly shrank and his back hit the water tank bracket with a dull sound.
"Did a cat bite your tongue?" She lifted the boy's jaw with the tip of the knife, causing a trickle of blue blood to ooze out. Su Wanqing then crushed the zombie dog's eyeballs that rolled to her feet with the tip of her boot and said, "Ask me to exchange it for steak, or..." The blade suddenly slapped him horizontally under his collarbone, "Feed it to the beast as dog food."
Veins popped out on Lin Che’s neck, and his wet silver hair stuck to his forehead, covering half of his face.
His left hand hidden behind his back quietly reached for the tear in his tactical pants. As soon as his fingertips touched the hidden broken glass, the back of the knife hit the inside of his wrist heavily.
Su Wanqing sneered and stepped on his kneecap as he tried to curl it up with the sole of her boot.
"A little trick taught by the research institute?" She bent down and ripped open the boy's collar, pulling out the micro-locator hidden in the bandage. "It should have been ineffective three hours ago."
Amid the crisp sound of metal components hitting the puddle of water, the shrill buzzing of sirens could be heard in the distance, but was interrupted by thunder halfway.
Lin Che suddenly opened his mouth, and his canine teeth bit the blade, making a teeth-grinding friction sound.
Su Wanqing grabbed his silver hair and slammed his head against the iron frame, causing the water tank to make a hollow sound.
"Can you speak French?" The tip of the knife poked the corner of the boy's mouth. Su Wanqing took out a moldy compressed biscuit and said, "Didn't your mentor teach you how to beg for food?"
Lin Che's blue blood dripped down his chin onto his tactical boots, corroding them into tiny white smoke.
Intermittent breath sounds came out of his throat, like a cat with its neck strangled.
Su Wanqing suddenly grabbed him by the back of the neck and pushed him toward the water. Half a human finger floated in the splash of water created by the boy's struggle, and his bloodshot eyeballs were reflected on the water surface.
A holographic screen popped up from the jade bracelet: [Subject 0927’s mental threshold has exceeded the critical point].
She counted the bubbles and lifted the other person up by his silver hair when he was about to suffocate.
The broken syllables of "Sister" mixed with French accent were interrupted by coughing, and the blue blood coughed up by Lin Che stained Su Wanqing's tactical gloves.
The blade grazed his earlobe and was nailed into the water tank bracket, and the shaved silver hair was blown by the wind and stuck to the corner of her mouth.
"Steak." The vacuum packaging bag hit the boy's face. Su Wanqing opened his collar to check the chip location. "If you dare to leave teeth marks, I'll pull out your tongue."
Lin Che suddenly stopped tearing the packaging with her teeth, and her vertical pupils shrank into a line as she stared at a point behind her.
Su Wanqing threw out three steel nails without even looking back. Amid the sound of metal collision, the mutant dog was nailed through the skull and fell into the drain, with its rotten intestines spilling all over the floor.
She stepped on the dog's head and pulled out her Tang sword, and black blood splattered on the steak that Lin Che had just torn open.
"Eat." The sound of the knife back hitting the iron frame was like a death warrant. Su Wanqing took out a tube of mustard sauce and squeezed it on the moldy compressed biscuits. "Or I can help you stuff it in."
The boy's Adam's apple rolled violently, and when he stuffed the synthetic meat stained with dog blood into his mouth, his back molars bit through the plastic bag.
The jade bracelet vibrated and popped up a data stream: [Obedience 41%].
Su Wanqing kicked away the dog head that rolled to her feet, and lifted up Lin Che's chin with meat residue on it with the tip of the knife: "Among the seven test subjects in the basement, which one can fight?"
The boy stopped chewing, blue blood oozed out from his gums and flowed down mixed with meat.
"Number three. Can spit fire." Lin Che suddenly grabbed her trouser leg with a French accent and swallowed, "Box number seven has explosives."
The sound of heavy rain pouring on the iron water tank was like a death drumbeat. Su Wanqing crushed the ice crystals that had just formed on his fingertips and watched the ice and blood seep into the cracks in the ground.
The handle of the knife stabbed heavily into his stomach. As the boy curled up and retched, Su Wanqing pulled out the surgical blade he had hidden in his sock.
"Don't you learn your lesson?" The metal sheet flew past the boy's ear and nailed to death two mutant cockroaches that crawled up the drainpipe.
Lin Che suddenly pounced on her and bit her wrist.
Su Wanqing grabbed his neck and slammed him against the water tank, leaving a human outline on the dented iron sheet.
The blue blood coughed up by the boy gathered into a stream on his chest, dripping into the stagnant water, emitting a strange fluorescent light.
"For the last time." The Tang sword chopped off the mutant that rushed towards her. Su Wanqing dragged the boy to the edge of the rooftop by his silver hair. "Call me sister, or feed the dog."
The wind from the thirty-seven-story building blew up his torn shirt, and from downstairs came the roars of survivors fighting for food.
The young man's lips opened and closed several times, and his larynx made a crackling sound between Su Wanqing's fingers.
The silver hair soaked with rain swept across the scar on her palm, and she spoke in French mixed with crying: "Sister, sister." The jade bracelet burst out with a dazzling blue light, and a golden prompt box popped up on the holographic screen: [Master-Slave Contract Established].
The moment Su Wanqing let go, Lin Che slid down the water tank bracket and sat on the ground.

He held a half-eaten piece of steak in his hand, and his canine teeth left two rows of fine teeth marks on the synthetic meat.
The sound of glass breaking could be heard in the distance, and the thick smoke rising from the fire on the seventh floor was turned into gray mist by the heavy rain.
"Open your mouth." Su Wanqing stuffed a mustard-flavored compressed biscuit into his mouth and cut the bandage on the boy's back with a Tang knife. "If you dare to spit it out, I'll cut off two taels of your flesh."
Lin Che's tears, mixed with the rain, flowed into her collar. Her Adam's apple rolled with difficulty as she swallowed the food, and her fingers left five scratches in the water.
The jade bracelet suddenly beeped, and the holographic map showed three red dots breaking through the fire on the seventh floor.
Su Wanqing pulled the boy up by his silver hair, and used the Tang sword to cut off the attacking mutated vines.
"Lead the way." The back of the knife hit the chip on his lower back, "Find subject number seven."
Lin Che stumbled and grabbed the rusty fire escape ladder, not even noticing the rust cutting his palms.
He turned around and looked at Su Wanqing with eyes like a wounded puppy, and the movement of Su Wanqing wiping the blade was reflected in his vertical pupils.
The heavy rain washed away the black blood on the Tang sword, and the accumulated water reflected the teardrop mole on her left eye with a cold light.
Lin Che's Adam's apple made him swallow hard under Su Wanqing's palm, and his silver hair, soaked by the heavy rain, dripped down his cheeks.
His lips turned white from being pressed by the back of the knife, and the rain on his eyelashes mixed with the blood from the corners of his eyes, leaving two light red marks on his cheekbones.
The French accent of "Sister" stuck between the boy's teeth, and purple finger marks were left on his neck.
Su Wanqing suddenly let go, and he stumbled into the rusty barbed wire. The sound of mutant vines rubbing against metal came from behind him.
The knife light split the rain curtain, and smelly sticky liquid sprayed out from the broken ends of three vines.
Su Wanqing shook off the rotten flesh on the back of the knife and asked, "Did the research institute cut off your tongue?"
Lin Che curled up and coughed, his tactical boots scraping against the remains of the zombie dog in the puddle, blue blood seeping into the water from between his fingers.
A red light suddenly exploded in the darkness.
The jade bracelet made the wrist bone numb, and the holographic screen popped up a golden frame in the rain curtain: [Master-Servant Contract Takes Effect].
