Chapter 88 Exploration Mission Begins

Chapter 88 Exploration Mission Begins

Su Wanqing walked out of the room, with Ye's words still echoing in her mind. Is the real traitor right in front of her?

She looked around. Professor Yang was discussing something in a low voice with Lu Zhao, while Xiao Ran was standing alone in the corner with a gloomy look on his face.

Everyone seemed normal, but Su Wanqing had a lingering doubt in her heart.

"Are you ready?" Su Wanqing walked in front of them and tried her best to make her voice sound calm.

Professor Yang looked up and pushed up his glasses. "The forged documents have been prepared, and the authority level is equivalent to that of a second-level researcher at the base. Lu Zhao's signal jammer has also been debugged and can temporarily interfere with the base's monitoring system."

Lu Zhao nodded. "The disruption will last no more than half an hour, after which the monitoring system will return to normal. We need to hurry."

Xiao Ran remained silent and just said "hmm".

"Let's go." Su Wanqing said.

Guided by the night, they avoided the main passage of the base and chose a little-known ventilation duct.

The pipe was narrow and dark, and the air was filled with a foul smell.

Lin Che walked in front, his purple hair looming in the darkness, like a dancing flame.

"Be careful." Xiao Ran warned. "There may be unknown dangers in the ventilation duct."

"Don't worry." Su Wanqing said. "I have started a system scan. If there is any abnormality, I will notify you immediately."

Professor Yang followed closely behind Su Wanqing, holding a briefcase containing forged documents and identification.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead from time to time and looked a little nervous.

"This place is really terrible." Professor Yang whispered. "When I was young, I never thought I would end up in a place like this."

"Stop complaining." Xiao Ran said coldly. "The mission hasn't been completed yet, what's the point of saying this now?"

Professor Yang closed his mouth and dared not say anything more.

After a difficult trek, they finally arrived at the entrance to the quarantine area.

Two guards in protective suits stood at the entrance, holding weapons and with grim expressions.

Professor Yang took a deep breath and stepped forward to present his forged ID.

The guard checked the documents carefully and then let them in.

"Remember your identities," the guard said. "You are not allowed to leave the quarantine area without permission."

"Got it." Professor Yang said respectfully.

After entering the isolation area, Su Wanqing immediately started a system scan.

A holographic projection appeared before her eyes, showing the internal structure of the quarantine area.

"This place is heavily guarded," Su Wanqing said. "There are surveillance cameras and sensors everywhere. We have to be careful."

"I'll be responsible for cracking the security system." Lu Zhao said. "Give me some time, I can shut down some of the surveillance cameras."

Lu Zhao walked to a console and started his work. His fingers tapped quickly on the keyboard, and dense codes flashed on the screen.

"The crack was successful." Lu Zhao said. "I have shut down one-third of the surveillance cameras in the quarantine area. But there are still some areas that I cannot crack."

"It's okay." Su Wanqing said. "We try to avoid those areas."

They walked along the corridor and soon arrived at the core laboratory.

The door of the laboratory was closed and equipped with an electronic lock.

"This electronic lock is very complicated." Lu Zhao said. "It requires high-level permissions to open it."

"Let me try." Su Wanqing said. She activated the system and began to crack the electronic lock.

A few minutes later, the electronic lock made a "click" sound and the door slowly opened.

The core laboratory is spacious and bright, filled with various instruments and equipment.

There is a huge display screen hanging on the wall, showing various data and images.

"This is the core area for virus research." Su Wanqing said.

They began searching the laboratory, looking for key information about the virus's transmission pathways and experimental subject mutations.

Su Wanqing used the system to crack a series of data and discovered a large amount of core records about the virus transmission path and experimental subject mutations.

"This data is too important." Su Wanqing said. "If we can analyze this data clearly, maybe we can find a cure."

"Data analysis takes time," Lu Zhao said. "I need to transfer this data to my computer for detailed analysis."

At this moment, Lu Zhao suddenly stopped the work in his hands and his face became solemn.

"Look here." Lu Zhao said, pointing to a corner of the laboratory.

There, there were rows of cold metal trays, on which were placed a large number of cut fragments of experimental subjects.

Those fragments were once parts of the human body and were covered with scars and bruises.

"What is this?" Xiao Ran asked.

"These are the remains of human experimentation," Lu Zhao said. "These fragments were once human experimenters."

Su Wanqing was filled with anger. She had never expected that the top leaders of the base would conduct such cruel human experiments.

"They are simply beasts," Su Wanqing said. "We must bring them to justice."

Just as they continued their search, suddenly, a shrill alarm sounded from the bottom floor of the laboratory.

"Alarm?" Xiao Ran frowned. "What happened?"

"We triggered the voice-controlled alarm device on the ground floor." Lu Zhao said.

"Advanced infected bodies are gathering towards our area."

"Damn it." Su Wanqing said. "We have to leave here as soon as possible."

At this moment, Lin Che suddenly fell to the ground, and his body began to tremble violently.

"Lin Che, what's wrong with you?" Su Wanqing asked.

Lin Che's eyes suddenly opened, but they were filled with a strange light.

“Listen to me, everyone.” A deep voice came out from Lin Che’s mouth.

"Follow my instructions immediately, or you will all die here."

Su Wanqing was startled, she recognized the voice.

"Night?" Su Wanqing asked.

"That's right," the voice said. "Now, I will command you."

Ye used experimental data to calculate another evacuation route from the quarantine area and led the team to avoid attacks by some infected bodies.

He was calm and decisive, as if he knew the internal structure of the quarantine zone very well.

"There is a fork in the road here. The left side is a dead end, and the right side is the correct direction." Ye said.

"There are infected people ambushing here, be careful." Ye said.

Under Ye's command, they successfully avoided most of the infected and found the evacuation exit.

"Let's go." Ye said. "I feel like the situation is getting worse."

They quickened their pace and ran towards the evacuation exit. But just as they were about to leave the quarantine area, suddenly, a large number of infected bodies rushed over from all directions and surrounded them.

"We are surrounded." Xiao Ran said.

"Don't panic." Ye said. "Follow my instructions and use the surrounding cover to defend yourself."

Su Wanqing and Xiao Ran followed Ye's instructions and used the surrounding cover to resist the attacks of the infected.

Lu Zhao used his special powers to control the mechanical equipment in the laboratory and attack the infected bodies.

But the number of infected bodies was too great, and they soon found themselves in trouble.

"We can't hold on any longer." Su Wanqing said.

"There is still a chance." Ye said. "I found a hidden passage that leads to a safe area outside the quarantine area."

"Where is it?" Su Wanqing asked.

"In the basement of the laboratory." Ye said. "But the entrance to the basement is locked and needs to be cracked."

"Let me crack it." Lu Zhao said.

Lu Zhao rushed to the entrance of the basement and started to break the lock. But at this moment, an infected body suddenly pounced on him.

"Be careful!" Su Wanqing shouted.

Xiao Ran immediately rushed forward and blocked the infected body's attack, but he was also scratched on the arm by the infected body.

"Xiao Ran, are you okay?" Su Wanqing asked.

"It's okay." Xiao Ran said. "Just scratched."

Lu Zhao successfully cracked the lock and opened the entrance to the basement.

"Go in quickly." Ye said. "It's not safe here anymore."

They rushed into the basement and quickly closed the entrance.

"Are we safe?" Su Wanqing asked.

"It's safe for now." Ye said. "But we have to leave here as soon as possible."
