Chapter 139 Abnormal Behavior
When Su Wanqing arrived at the main tent of the temporary camp, Xiao Ran was sitting at a simple table with a girl in a tattered military uniform. There was a bowl of steaming porridge on the table.
The girl looked no more than sixteen or seventeen years old, with a pale face and timid eyes. She held the bowl tightly in her hand, as if she was afraid that someone would take it away from her.
"This is Xiaoya. I found her near the rebel camp. She's a little injured."
When Xiao Ran saw Su Wanqing, he said cheerfully, "She's very well behaved. I prepared some food for her."
Su Wanqing walked to the table, said "hmm" lightly, and her eyes fell on the girl.
"What's your name?"
The girl was startled and looked up suddenly, but when she saw Su Wanqing, she quickly lowered her head again.
"My...my name is Aya." The voice was so thin that it was almost inaudible.
"Have a good rest, it's safe here." Su Wanqing said briefly. She noticed that Aya's attention did not seem to be on the porridge, but she would secretly glance at the jade bracelet placed in the corner of the tent from time to time.
Xiao Ran seemed to notice Su Wanqing's attention and said with a smile: "Xiao Ya is very curious about this and keeps asking what it is."
"What is it?" Su Wanqing asked.
"That one... round and blue." Aya pointed timidly in the direction of the jade bracelet, but quickly retracted her hand. "It's very beautiful."
Xiao Ran followed Aya's gesture and an intimate smile appeared on his face.
"Yeah, this is a good thing. Wanqing can use it to create many useful things."
He turned to Aya and whispered, "I'll show you when I have a chance."
Lu Zhao stood aside, observing all this silently, his brows slightly furrowed.
He walked to Su Wanqing and whispered, "Xiao Ran's attitude towards this girl is a bit too much."
Su Wanqing nodded in agreement. Xiao Ran had always been very kind to the survivors, but this overly caring attitude made her feel a little unnatural.
"Do you know the origin of this girl?" Su Wanqing asked Lu Zhao.
"No, and little information could be gathered around the rebel camp. She claimed to be a resident of a nearby village, but could not provide a specific home address or information about her relatives."
Lu Zhao replied, "The uniform she was wearing seemed to be the standard of the rebels, but she insisted that she was captured."
"I'll go ask." Su Wanqing said. She turned to Aya and spoke more slowly, "Aya, can you tell me why you appeared near the rebel camp?"
Aya's hands were shaking slightly, and her eyes were flickering. "I... I'm lost. I lost my family."
"Lost?" Su Wanqing asked, "What about your family? Where do you live? What's your name?"
Aya's breathing became rapid, her hands tightly clenched the bowl, and her body began to tremble slightly.
"I…I don't remember. I don't remember anything."
"Don't remember?" Su Wanqing raised her eyebrows slightly. She felt that Aya's answer was full of loopholes.
At this moment, Lin Che walked in from outside. His face was a little pale, as if he was frightened by something.
"Chief Su, I found something wrong."
Su Wanqing turned to look at him. "What?"
Lin Che walked over to Su Wanqing and whispered, "The pendant on Aya...it seems to have a weak frequency resonance with the jade bracelet."
"Weak frequency resonance?" Su Wanqing was a little confused.
“Yes.” Lin Che explained, “I sensed a subtle energy fluctuation, and the pendant and jade bracelet responded at a certain frequency. This phenomenon is very rare, which means there may be some special connection between the two.”
Su Wanqing turned her head to look at Aya's neck, and sure enough, she saw that she was wearing a peculiarly shaped metal pendant wrapped in old cloth.
The pendant was wrapped tightly in cloth, and its specific material and shape could not be seen clearly.
"Let her take off the pendant." Su Wanqing ordered.
Aya's body suddenly stiffened and a look of horror appeared on her face.
"No...don't! This is...my mother left it to me."
When Xiao Ran heard Su Wanqing's order, he immediately walked to Aya and gently put his arm around her shoulders.
"Wanqing, don't scare her. She just got here and hasn't adapted yet."
"Xiao Ran." Su Wanqing frowned and said in a serious tone, "This is an investigation, not to scare her."
Xiao Ran pouted, but still said to Aya helplessly: "Xiaoya, listen to Wanqing and take off the pendant. We just want to see what it is."
Aya hesitated for a long time, and finally took off the pendant slowly. The pendant was exposed, it was a strange black color, with complex patterns on the surface, and the shape was like a twisted spiral.
Su Wanqing took the pendant and observed it carefully. The material of the pendant was very special, it felt cold and heavy, as if it contained some powerful energy.
Just as Su Wanqing was observing the pendant, she noticed that Ye had been standing in the corner of the tent without saying a word.
But he did not simply observe Aya like others did. Instead, he recorded all of Aya's actions, even her breathing and heartbeat, with an extremely focused gaze.
Ye's behavior made Su Wanqing feel a little uneasy. She knew that Ye was very capable, but he had been hiding many secrets.
Now, he is paying so much attention to Aya, what does this mean? "This pendant..." Su Wanqing said softly, "It's very interesting."
She raised her head and looked at Lu Zhao. "Lu Zhao, I want to conduct a more detailed identity investigation on Aya. I want to know who she is and what kind of relationship she has with this pendant."
Lu Zhao nodded. "Understood."
"In addition." Su Wanqing's eyes fell on Ye, "Ye, what did you record about Aya?"
Ye raised his head and looked at Su Wanqing calmly. "I just recorded some necessary information to facilitate subsequent analysis."
"What information?" Su Wanqing asked.
Ye paused and replied, "Her reaction, her words, her body movements... everything may be related to the current situation."
Su Wanqing did not ask any further questions, she knew that Ye would not reveal his secrets easily.
But she still felt a vague sense of uneasiness. The appearance of Aya seemed to add more uncertainty to the already complicated situation.
Su Wanqing took a deep breath and made up her mind. She must find out Aya's identity as soon as possible and uncover her secrets.
Perhaps, the appearance of this girl will be the key to unlocking the truth about the jade bracelet.
Xiao Ran was also comforting Aya, trying to help her integrate into the team as soon as possible.
He whispered, "Xiaoya, don't be afraid, we will all protect you."
Lu Zhao looked at Xiao Ran's behavior and curled his lips slightly. He felt that Xiao Ran's concern for Aya was a little too much.
Su Wanqing also noticed Lu Zhao's expression and she frowned slightly.
She felt a little wary of the overly close relationship between Xiao Ran and Aya.
Although there is not enough evidence now, she feels that some things do not seem simple.
