Chapter 29: Didn't Treat Me as a Human

After Yu Haoyuan's description, Tong Yanqi suddenly understood and was at a loss whether to laugh or cry.

*

Today is Yu Haoyuan's birthday, and the Yu family held a birthday dinner for him.

As one of the top wealthy families in Beijing, the Yu family held a birthday party for their younger generation. Even if the head of the family was not present, everyone still flocked to the party and their enthusiasm for attending the party did not diminish at all.

The lights in the banquet hall were bright and vibrant, and people gathered in groups of three or four, chatting and exchanging business cards. The atmosphere was lively but not too noisy.

In the center of the banquet hall, Yu Haoyuan, his brother Yu Haoxuan, and his mother Chu Yueyin were surrounded by a group of people congratulating them.

Chu Yueyin is in her forties, and because of proper maintenance, she looks very young and has a pretty face, but she has a stronger aura than before, with graceful manners, calmness and confidence, and her every frown and smile reveals elegance, nobility and dignity.

The two sons beside him were also handsome and well-mannered. Yu Haoyuan, the main character of the banquet, though confined to a wheelchair, exuded a rebellious and youthful aura. Meanwhile, his older brother, Yu Haoxuan, appeared even more childish, with a well-behaved and innocent demeanor.

All around the three people were warm smiles, and all they heard were sincere blessings.

"Happy birthday, little master!"

"Haoyuan seems to be getting better and better, he's such a handsome guy!"

"Happy birthday, Young Master Yu, and a bright future!"

"May the young master have this day every year, and may he always be as happy and successful as he is now!"

As soon as these words were spoken, the two gentlemen's smiles immediately disappeared, especially the protagonist Yu Haoyuan, who narrowed his long and narrow peach blossom eyes and looked arrogant.

The flood of blessings suddenly stopped, and the guests who were congratulating him looked at the person who was speaking.

Yu Haoyuan, the protagonist of today's birthday party, is still sitting in a wheelchair. Everyone knows that he has been in a bad mood recently.

But the person who was speaking was looking at the protagonist with a flattering expression, not noticing that there was anything wrong.

I don't know if he is really stupid or just pretending to be stupid.

Mother Chu Yueyin's smile remained unchanged, and she ignored the man in front of her. She only smiled and praised another man in a suit and tie: "Mr. Zhang, thank you for the gift you carefully prepared. This child has loved these things since he was little."

Mr. Zhang started his business in jewelry, and specially gave Yu Haoyuan the latest limited edition men's bracelet as a gift.

Mr. Zhang laughed heartily and responded happily: "As long as the child likes it!"

Because of the conversation between the two, the somewhat stagnant atmosphere around them suddenly became lively again, and some bigwigs who had not yet given gifts asked their assistants to hand the gifts to the housekeeper and several assistants.

No one paid any more attention to the abrupt gentleman.

Lu Manxi, who had just finalized a collaboration, saw that there were fewer people around Yu Haoyuan and walked forward happily.

"Long time no see, Aunt Chu, you look even more elegant." After saying that, she raised an eyebrow at Yu Haoyuan and said, "Happy birthday, little brother."

After exchanging greetings, Lu Manxi clapped her hands, and the assistant handed two gifts to her.

"Here, these cufflinks are from me. The larger ones are from Xixi." Lu Manxi looked at Chu Yueyin with a smile and said, "Aunt Chu, Xixi is still abroad and can't make it back in time, so I had to deliver this gift to her on her behalf. Please don't mind."

There was a hint of kindness in Chu Yueyin's smile. These younger generations had been good friends with Hao Yuan since they were young, and she had watched them grow up, so how could she blame them?

She asked with concern: "Is Xiaoxi doing well recently?"

"I'm doing fine. I'm much more lively now and even got a boyfriend. I'll bring him to you someday."

Hearing this, Chu Yueyin was filled with relief, but her brother Yu Haoxuan, who had always been invisible, changed his expression.

After being tugged at by the girl next to him, he realized that he had lost his composure and said, trying to cover it up: "It's quite big. What's the gift?"

It’s not a gift for you, why are you asking?

Lu Manxi endured it, but didn't roll her eyes outright. She said calmly, "Wheelchair, this is something Qiqi specially made..."

Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by Yu Haoxuan, causing an uproar at the scene.

Giving a wheelchair as a gift at a birthday party was a blatant provocation. For a moment, everyone's attention was focused on the bold lady in red at the scene.

Yu Haoyuan glanced at the wheelchair with dissatisfaction. He knew from one look that Sister Qi was blaming him for not taking care of himself, just like his own mother. Humph.

Yu Haoxuan's face turned pale. It seemed that Xiao Xi still disliked him and even ruined his brother's birthday.

He interrupted Lu Manxi and looked at Yu Haoyuan with a guilty look on his face, saying, "I'm sorry, it's all because of me..."

"Shut up. What's your business? You're so rude." Chu Yueyin's expression fell for a rare moment, and she glanced at her silly son with disappointment.

Yu Haoxuan's words were meant to sow discord between Tong Yanqi and Haoyuan. He bluntly said that Tong Yanqi was angry about breaking up with him, so she gave Haoyuan a random gift on his birthday.

He didn't consider at all whether Tong Yanqi's reputation would be damaged by saying this.

After scolding Yu Haoxuan, Chu Yueyin looked at Lu Manxi, a smile returning to her face, and said kindly, "Manman, please continue."

No one expected Chu Yueyin to choose to defend this girl. For a moment, everyone's eyes were focused on the tall and bright Lu Manxi in front of them.

There were also some insiders who knew about the feud between Mr. Yu and his ex-girlfriend Tong Yanqi, and their expressions suddenly became intriguing.

Facing everyone's gaze, Lu Manxi didn't even glance at Yu Haoxuan.

She was dressed in a scarlet fishtail dress that outlined her graceful curves as she walked towards her carefully packed wheelchair. Her steps were unhurried, her skirt fluttering as she moved, and her steps were like lotus flowers.
