Chapter 4

The great emperor of the Star Alliance, Aldrich Brick, skipped the evening charity dinner on the pretext of feeling unwell and scolded his younger brother for a full hour in the lounge.

The venerable Emperor of the Star Alliance began by recounting how his younger brother, in kindergarten, had thrown bugs into the cup of a snotty etiquette teacher. He then recounted how Arthur had smashed the windows of a bully's house in elementary school, how he had put a sack on the snobbish dean of the school in middle school, and how he had ripped off the wig of a diehard minister in a live broadcast in college...

When the Zerg invade, Arthur, disregarding his orders, personally leads a suicide squad to assault the Zerg's lair. Though victorious, he and the surviving members of the squad are left with incurable wounds: the Zerg's residual energy interferes with healing, and the aftereffects of overusing their special powers are incurable. These combined forces erode the heroes' vitality, gradually blurring their human consciousness and leading to their slow decline and death.

As the Iron-Blooded Emperor spoke, he choked up again.

Arthur squatted down obediently, his eyes wide open, and he looked like he was listening attentively to the lecture. The Emperor couldn't help but feel soft-hearted when he saw this.

After going through so much, his naughty kid Arthur finally grew up.

"Do you know you are wrong?" His Majesty the Emperor said in a deep voice.

Arthur's huge cat shrank and turned into a huge furry ball: "Ouch."

After shouting, he realized that his brother couldn't understand what he was saying through the screen, so he moved his claws like flying.

"Humility in listening to teachings, but refusing to repent, ( ̄▽ ̄)/Awoo!"

His Majesty the Emperor crushed the metal teacup in his hand with a "click".

Arthur raised his paw, pulled up the corner of his mouth, and stuck out his tongue: "Lululu!"

The metal teacup in the Emperor's hand turned into a metal ball.

Arthur turned around, lay down with his upper body, arched his furry butt high, twisted his butt left and right, and swung his tail left and right.

His Majesty the Emperor threw the metal ball in his hand into the trash can with an expressionless look.

"That's enough!" His Majesty the Emperor was so angry that he almost laughed. "I can see that you are in high spirits now?"

Arthur turned around, and the cat's head came close to the camera, filling the entire screen. "Ahhh."

Be energetic! Really energetic! So don't be sad! Smile!

Emperor Aldrich sighed deeply and rubbed his brows: "I know you don't want me to be sad, but how can I not be sad?"

The last time they talked, Arthur actually said that he felt his death was near and he didn't want to look his worst in front of his acquaintances, so he asked him to find someone who knew nothing about the matter to be the temporary keeper and replace him after he died.

Listen?! Is this what a human would say? Even a big cat wouldn't do!

Although Emperor Aldrich wanted to scold and refuse, he finally fulfilled Arthur's wish.

The average lifespan of the Covenant was two hundred years, and powerful psychics could live over three hundred. As his parents' health and abilities declined, they suddenly decided to live like ordinary people. Having a son in their old age, they said they wanted to live in seclusion in a picturesque place. However, as fate would have it, they passed away before Arthur was even a year old.

By then, Emperor Aldrich was already a hundred years old. The family treated their younger brother, younger than their son, like the apple of their eye. Arthur, less than thirty years old, was still a child in their eyes. They couldn't bear to see him go through so much hardship, but they could never control this naughty child, who had always had his own way.

"Don't be sad, come, laugh with me!" Arthur typed with his fingertips, and after finishing, he tilted his head towards the camera and showed a tiger smile *罒ω罒*.

"Naughty kid!" Arthur made countless funny faces, and Emperor Aldrich finally smiled helplessly. "You're in good spirits, aren't you going to wait for death? Should I send professionals to you?"

Arthur put away his funny expression, turned serious, and sent a text message: "Brother, please send me a copy of the investigation report of the person you sent this time."

Aldridge frowned: "What's his problem?"

Arthur hesitated. The situation was still unclear, and he didn't want to disappoint his brother. But if he didn't explain the situation, what if his elder brother transferred the young man, or even imprisoned and tortured him? Although the young man's behavior seemed perverted, he was still treating him well.

"He might have special healing abilities." Arthur concealed half the truth and selectively told his brother, "I want to observe him for a while. Don't send anyone else for now."

Aldridge was horrified. He stood up suddenly and said in a hoarse voice: "Really?!"

He glanced around and waved his hand. Footsteps were immediately heard on camera, and then a protective shield was erected.

"Go on." Aldridge sat back on the sofa and frowned.

"He possesses a strange energy fluctuation that temporarily alleviates my injuries," Arthur typed. "He's overly friendly and trusting of me, yet his words and actions seem to indicate he doesn't recognize me, treating me like an ordinary animal."

Arthur tilted his head and thought for a moment before adding, "No, he doesn't treat me like an ordinary animal. He calls me a spirit beast because he probably knows I'm not an ordinary animal."

Aldridge fell into deep thought.

The term "spiritual beast" wasn't surprising; they referred to the beasts transformed by S-level psychics as "exotic beasts" or "spiritual beasts." Strangely, the fact that S-level psychics had achieved another breakthrough and could transform into beast form was considered a core Star Alliance secret, known only to S-level psychics and a few high-ranking members of the Star Alliance and major factions.

As an ordinary person, Mingyou should not know the existence of spiritual beasts.

While transforming into a spirit beast significantly increases a psychic's strength, their intelligence decreases, and their behavior becomes influenced by their animalistic nature. This is both the Covenant's secret weapon and the inherent weakness of S-class psychics. Only "special" psychics can fully retain their human rationality after transforming into a beast. Arthur is one of the most exceptional.

However, users with special abilities need to consume foods containing energy of the corresponding attribute to supplement their nutrition. Otherwise, consuming their special abilities will consume their mental energy. As for "special" abilities, no high-efficiency energy supplements with the corresponding attributes have yet to be found.

Special abilities could inflict massive damage to the Zerg. After discovering this, the Covenant finally drove the Zerg back to their home lairs on the outer battlefield, preventing the war from spreading to the Covenant itself. However, because they couldn't replenish their energy through food, they could only consume their vitality and mental strength. Many special ability users paid a heavy price, including his younger brother.

While Aldridge was lost in thought, Arthur finished reading all of Mingyou's information, and a puzzled look appeared on the cat's face.

Mingyou's nineteen years of life were uneventful. Born into the Tan family, a wealthy family in an autonomous star region, he had no special abilities and was raised in a boarding school, where he wasn't even allowed to leave during holidays.

Mingyou's life turned around after the college entrance exams. The Tan family suddenly announced that he had been taken away by mistake, took the "real" rich young master home, and kicked him out of the house.

Arthur looked at the photos of Mingyou's scumbag father and deceased mother - two long black scrolls.

Arthur looked at the photo of the "real" young master of the rich family again - a long straight red hair.

So, Mingyou, who has fluffy black natural curly hair, is not the real child of the couple with long black curly hair, but the mutant with straight red hair is the real child of the couple?

Oh no, I learned biology for nothing!

As expected of a wealthy and powerful family in the autonomous star zone, their ability to lie with their eyes open is truly amazing! I, Arthur Tiger, am ashamed of myself!

Arthur finally figured out how this family maintained their reputation as a family full of superpowered people—any child who wasn't superpowered was mistakenly adopted! Ha! ~

"Mingyou's mother, Ping Wanshu, was a martyred soldier who served in the army. Her eldest son, Tan Chenxi, is an S-rank psychic who hasn't yet awakened his beast form. He's currently assigned to your direct unit and is considered your subordinate," Aldridge added. "After retiring, Ping Wanshu was severely injured by interstellar pirates in retaliation and died giving birth to Mingyou. The military doctor who delivered her was one of the rescuers, so it's impossible that she took the wrong child."

"Mingyou's original name was Tan Changgeng. After being expelled from the family, the Tan family asked him to change his name, and he changed it to Mingyou. Given his life experience, he should have had no chance of coming into contact with hostile forces of the Star Alliance."

"Not only does he not have a student status now, but even his household registration has been cancelled. I was planning to temporarily place him in the collective household registration of the nursing home where you are."

Aldridge chose Mingyou because he wanted to help this poor child for the sake of his mother.

Arthur's eyes fell on the last paragraph of the investigation report.

Mingyou, who ranked first on Sky Blue Star, was accepted into Star Alliance Agricultural University. This time, he came to the animal sanatorium to work part-time for three months to raise enough money for university tuition.

But what Mingyou didn't know was that the moment he was kicked out of the house and changed his name, his family found someone to cancel his student status and used their connections to withdraw his file from Xingmeng Agricultural University.

This was, of course, illegal. But the Tan family was the local tycoon of Sky Blue Star, and the Star Alliance had no control over it. No one investigated, and the matter simply passed.

Poor kid, he doesn’t even know that he has no school to go to.

"Stupid Tan family, don't you know what a big opportunity you've missed? This kid is ours!" Arthur's tail swung like a windmill. "Why send him to Agricultural University? He studies spirit beasts, he should go to the Star Alliance Central Military Academy! Why register him in a collective household? Put him in my household registration! I'll be his recommender! I'll recommend him directly!"

Aldridge asked doubtfully, "Since you're certain he possesses special healing abilities, he's indeed qualified to attend the Star Alliance Central Military Academy. But why would you go to such great lengths to become his guardian and recommender, specifically protecting him?"

Arthur's beard stood up proudly. "I became his guardian and recommender, and he always gives me all the good things he has!"

Like Nutrition Cube! Nutrition Cube! and Nutrition Cube!

"It seems that he has more than just the secret of his healing talent." Aldridge said sharply.

Arthur looked alert and slapped down half of the camera. "Don't mess around! Leave his business to me! I have ten subordinates waiting for his help!"

"Okay, I'll take care of it. But don't force him. If he doesn't want to go to military school, Agricultural University is also good." Aldridge sighed deeply and said tiredly, "As long as he can save you, no matter what secrets he holds, I will protect him."

"Even though he is a Zerg spy."

Arthur Mao was furious: "Hey, hey, hey! Big brother! Don't raise flags like this randomly! Look at how stupid he is, he doesn't even look like a spy! At most, he can be used by others! But as long as he is on our side, he is ours, right? Don't be like this, brother is afraid! You are the selfless Emperor!"

Arthur finished typing and raised his paw to wipe away the nonexistent tears. He wiped once, glanced at his brother, wiped again, and then, woooo!

"Stop pretending to cry." Aldridge said helplessly, "Are you missing something?"

"Missing! Missing a lot! And who's the idiot who brought the young man here this time? Huh? Employee training? If it weren't for me, the young man wouldn't even be able to start the underground freezer! He doesn't even reply to emails! It made the young man afraid to give me food. I just had plain boiled meat today! Plain water! Boiled meat!"

Arthur's two claws in front of him and the long tail behind him both left afterimages when they were waving.

Complain! Complain like crazy!

The expression on Aldridge's face became softer and softer, and a crack finally appeared in the dark cloud of despair in his heart, revealing a ray of hope.

Chang Geng means enlightenment. I hope this child lives up to his name and brings him the dawn of hope.

It was past four in the morning when Arthur returned to his bedroom.

He squatted beside the big bed and looked at Mingyou with sympathy. He was sleeping in a very bad posture and had kicked the quilt to the ground.

Bright, Blessed. Is this the name this young man hopes for himself?

Tsk, poor kid. You were just trying to save enough for tuition to start a new life, but you didn't expect your school registration to be revoked? The Tan family really didn't want to give you a chance.

Yet, this kid had managed to leave Sky Blue Planet alive, even happened to see his brother looking for work, and come to this place beyond the reach of the Tan family. Was it luck? Or was there some other secret?

In any case, Arthur has confirmed that Mingyou definitely has no subjective malice and is at most being used by others.

Arthur still needs to observe the intentions of the person behind Mingyou for a while.

"A-choo." A cool breeze blew by, and Mingyou kicked off the quilt and curled up into a ball, shivering.

"Little fool." Arthur picked up the quilt, climbed onto the bed, and tried to cover Mingyou with it.

But he didn't realize how heavy he was, and once he got on the bed, he made a dent. Mingyou rolled over to him and used his hands and feet to wrap around him like an octopus.

He unconsciously rubbed it and sniffed it, and it was the soft fur of a big cat. Mingyou fell asleep contentedly.

Arthur: “???” Wait! Let me go! Don’t use me as a pillow…

"Ouch..." Light blue energy fluctuations emanated from Mingyou's body again, causing Arthur to relax unconsciously, and his eyelids began to droop.

I’m so sleepy… It feels like my body hasn’t had a good rest in a long time… Huh… Huh…

No... I have to push him away... push him away... huh Zzzzzzz...

Moonlight streamed in from the window. On the large bed, a large black cat lay sprawled, occupying most of the bed. A young man in a T-shirt and shorts, entwined with his arms and legs, slept soundly.
