Xie Shuhua
He turned around suddenly and saw Shen Qianyue standing in the corridor not far away, followed by the steward and two maids. She was holding an account book in her hand, her eyes calm as she glanced towards the north corner gate.
"My lord, your injury has not healed yet, and the wind is strong in the garden. Go back to the house and rest." Her voice was calm, but it carried an unquestionable majesty.
Xie Shangjia opened his mouth, wanting to ask her who was outside the wall, wanting to argue that his cold had healed, but when he met her all-seeing gaze, the words got stuck in his throat.
The only resistance he could offer was to stand still.
Shen Qianyue ordered the housekeeper: "Have someone send the minister back to his room."
"yes."
Xie Shangjia pushed the servants who surrounded him hard: "Chen Qianyue! Don't go too far! This is the Shangshu Mansion! I am the master here!"
Shen Qianyue turned around and left without any reluctance or change of mind.
Until a childish voice called out from behind.
"Mom, Dad, are you guys arguing?"
Shen Qianyue's expression relaxed, and she squatted down and opened her arms to Li'er.
The little girl threw herself into her arms like a young swallow returning to its nest, lay softly on her shoulder, turned her head to look at Xie Shangjia, and spoke in a soft voice.
"Mom, Li'er misses you. The hibiscus pastry Aunt Jinyu brought is really delicious. Li'er wants to eat more."
She was fair and delicate, as exquisite as a porcelain doll, and her words revealed a sense of complete dependence.
Chen Qianyue smiled slightly: "I'll ask someone to buy it this afternoon. Mom was just joking with Dad."
Xie Shangjia standing aside was almost petrified, the kind that would shatter into pieces if poked.
There were only two words echoing in my mind over and over again.
"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy—"
Is this correct.
He, Xie Shangjia, although he was not good at literature or martial arts, but at least he was famous for his face as the leader of the playboys in the capital. All the young girls and wives knew about his handsome face.
He had to sneak around whenever he went out, otherwise he would be blocked by sachets and handkerchiefs. When his peers were visiting brothels, he would have to take a detour if he passed by. With his face, who knows who would take advantage of him if he went there.
He was an eighteen-year-old virgin who had finally come to terms with the cruel reality that he was thirty-one and married to his enemy, and now he had a child out of nowhere.
He and Shen Qianyue... actually have a child.
A child with the same blood!
Xie Shangjia was completely stunned. He stiffly caught the soft ball in his arms and didn't know what to do with his arms. The little girl rubbed her face against him affectionately. The force was as gentle as a feather, but it was enough to make him feel helpless.
"Aunt Jinyu said that Daddy is sick and won't let Li'er come... But Li'er misses Mommy and Daddy."
Shen Qianyue pinched her nose lightly: "You will only cause trouble for your Aunt Jinyu."
Li'er's mouth pursed: "Mom is bad, Dad is good!"
Xie Shangjia hadn't recovered from the shock of becoming a father yet, but he subconsciously hugged the little guy in his arms tightly.
Shen Qianyue pinched her chubby cheeks and said, "Be good and stay with Daddy. Mommy has a distinguished guest to meet."
Xie Shangjia had lost his memory, but he was not a fool, and he could see that other people's families had a kind mother and a strict father, but in his family it was completely the opposite, with a kind father and a strict mother, so Li'er was more attached to him.
Shen Qianyue turned and left, and Xie Shangjia was led back to the warm room by the servants in a daze.
As soon as the door closed, he could no longer hold back and looked down at the child in his arms. She had two eyes, a nose, and a mouth, and she looked... not bad, but far inferior to her mother.
This is actually the child born by Shen Qianyue.
It was a heavy, warm ball, with the scent of milk and sunshine. He had never held such a small child before, and he couldn't help but rub the fluffy little head. It felt good, like the dog he had raised when he was a child.
"May I have your name?"
Li'er paused her dangling legs, looked at him carefully, then reached out to touch his forehead, her glass-like cat eyes filled with confusion.
"Daddy, are you okay?"
Xie Shangjia scratched his head and chuckled. He wanted to answer, but didn't know how to address himself. What was the relationship between the child of 31-year-old Xie Shangjia and him, 18-year-old Xie Shangjia?
"Hey, kid, amnesia, you know what amnesia is, right? It means you forget everything that happened in the past. Let's get to know each other again?"
Xie Shuhua felt that his father had become stupid, which might be a sequelae of his illness.
"Daddy, my name is Xie Shuhua, nicknamed Li'er, and I'm three years old this year. My mother's name is Shen Qianyue, and she's thirty-two years old. Your name is..."
"Stop!" Xie Shangjia waved his hand. "Very good, from now on, we'll talk on our own. You call me dad, and I call you sister. From now on, you'll be my number one lackey. As long as I have a bite to eat, you'll never starve to death!"
Li'er's eyes instantly filled with tears, but the tears hung in the air without falling. She just looked at him with a pout.
Xie Shangjia immediately panicked and was in a mess. He almost knelt down to beg her.
"No... kid, please don't cry! What are you dissatisfied with my changes? Otherwise, I can call you dad, and please forgive me, ancestor!"
Damn it, Shen Qianyue had just walked away for less than a cup of tea, and he made her daughter cry. How can this be explained?
Li'er's tears finally burst out: "Wow... I won't go to school anymore! I have a stupid dad. My classmates will laugh at me..."
Xie Shangjia quickly hugged her shoulders. What should you do when a woman cries? The first thing you should do is to obey her and not refute her. He agreed with her.
"Okay, okay, if you don't want to go, then don't go."
Li'er cried even harder: "If I don't go to school, I'll be uneducated... Mom and Dad are so great, I'll be looked down upon if I'm uneducated... wuwuwu..."
Xie Shangjia: "Then go!"
Li'er: "I have a stupid dad, woooo..."
Xie Shangjia was really at his wit's end. He sank to his knees and used his ultimate move, covering his eyes and pretending to cry.
"I'm going to die! What should I do with the noise coming from the kids at home? I'm only eighteen! I'm being filled with the devilish noises of a three-year-old! I'm deaf! Why can't I hear anything?"
Li'er was so scared that she ran over and hugged him: "Daddy is not deaf! Li'er, don't cry anymore!"
The servants outside the door didn't take the little princess crying seriously at first, as their Shangshu was the best at coaxing children. But when they heard Xie Shangjia's wails, they looked at each other in bewilderment.
Xie Shangjia really admires himself. When Chen Qianyue comes back, he will make her kowtow to thank him... But she will probably slap him in the face, hehe...
He carried Li'er, who was a little tired after crying, to the bed. He wanted to coax the child to sleep, but he himself fell asleep in a daze.
As the sky gradually darkened, he felt a warm feeling in his arms. The chubby little hands tightly grasped his clothes, and the little head was buried in his chest, showing complete dependence.
His arms were numb and his mind was still unclear, but his hands instinctively patted the child's back.
"It doesn't matter if Daddy is stupid, Li'er will protect you."
A tiny cub nestled in his arms, tear marks still lingering on its milky white face, looking both pitiful and adorable.
Xie Shangjia felt mixed emotions. He was still a virgin, but how come he had aged so much and become a father after waking up?
Li'er seemed to be disturbed by a nightmare, with beads of sweat oozing from her forehead. He subconsciously hugged her tightly, and a gentle soothing sound came out of his throat that was unfamiliar even to himself.
"Don't be afraid... Li'er, don't be afraid... Daddy is here."
His movements were so awkward that they were almost funny, and his arms were stiff and awkward, but strangely, they calmed the child's panic.
The charcoal fire in the house was burning brightly, driving away the coldness of deep winter.
Outside the window, Shen Qianyue and a tall man stood quietly in the corridor.
She watched him hugging her daughter in an almost pious and clumsy manner, his lowered brows and eyes focused and gentle, without his usual deepness or the cynicism that came with amnesia.
Li'er moved in his arms, her tear-stained little face looked like a calico cat, her black eyes clear under her wet eyelashes.
"Daddy."
"Li'er?" Xie Shangjia called out tentatively, his voice so soft that he felt a little nauseous.
Xie Shuhua pouted, stretched out his chubby little hand, and poked his high nose bridge curiously.
The soft touch carried the unique warmth of a child. Xie Shangjia's whole body stiffened, and then a warm current flowed through his limbs.
He couldn't help but grin and even rubbed Li'er's chubby fingers with the tip of his nose.
"Pfft..." Li'er was amused by her father's sudden funny smile and made a nasal sound.
The door was pushed open with a creaky sound.
Shen Qianyue stepped into the house. The sunset cast a layer of gold on her body. She was wearing a gorgeous white silk robe flowing down, a satin ribbon of the same color tied around her waist, her bun was tied up high, and the firebird hairpin made of gold thread was shining. She was graceful and dignified, showing the style of a mistress.
There was someone following closely behind her.
The man was tall and strong, wearing a black robe and a dark cloak, with a stern face, deep facial features that seemed familiar, and an overwhelming aura.
"Li'er still sleeps restlessly as she did when she was little. The winter chill has not yet subsided. My dear nephew, you are being too negligent."
Xie Zhiyun's skin color was slightly darker, but he looked even more handsome. Standing there with a body of nearly two meters, even the tall Shen Qianyue looked a little frail.
Chen Qianyue stepped forward and tucked the corner of the quilt for Li'er, saying in a normal tone, "Your Highness has a good memory. You already know Shangjia's situation. Thank you for your help this time."
The smile on Xie Shangjia's face suddenly froze, and then faded away like the tide, leaving only a heavy haze.
This is actually his uncle, the God of War? !
The man in front of me was handsome and elegant, with an awe-inspiring demeanor. He looked like an emperor or a nobleman, majestic without even getting angry. How could he look like the warrior I remembered?
He was obviously his biological uncle, but he did not feel the slightest bit of intimacy with him. Instead, he felt even more uncomfortable, as if a big hole had been poked in his heart and cold wind was rushing in.
An inexplicably strong disgust, mixed with vigilance and rejection, like a cold vine, instantly wrapped around his heart, making his breathing a little difficult.
Xie Zhiyun stepped forward to greet Xie Shangjia, but her eyes were fixed on Li'er.
"I heard that my nephew was ill, so I came to visit him on behalf of the royal family. Now that the matter has been settled, my nephew, please take care of your health in the future."
He emphasized the last four words.
The guards behind him brought a plate of exquisite children's toys. Xie Zhiyun naturally picked up a wooden bird, and her tone was unprecedentedly gentle.
"Pear, look, the bird is saying hello to you."
Li'er's little hand was still clutching Xie Shangjia's sleeve, but her big round eyes were fixed on the bird's head which moved up and down as her fingers fiddled with it.
Xie Zhiyun raised her eyes and smiled softly at Shen Qianyue, fiddling with the bird's head with her fingers nonchalantly: "These are just some small things I collected from the people. I brought them to Li'er to enjoy on the way."
Xie Shangjia subconsciously reached out, unnoticedly blocked the wooden bird, and held Li'er in his arms again.
Xie Zhiyun's eyes darkened and the wooden bird on his fingertips stopped.
