Chapter 11 Guess, does Mingzhou believe you or me?
Gu Manman stood alone in front of the guest room window.
The room behind him was spacious and luxurious, with exquisite and extravagant decoration.
Outside the window, the mountains were shrouded in mist, and the moonlight shone on the stone path leading to the main building.
Three hours ago, Feng Mingzhou sent her to the guest room, answered a phone call, went out, and never came back.
She remembered Lin Jinyun's words in the bathroom, which were like a sharp knife, ruthlessly cutting the last layer of veil between her and Feng Mingzhou.
The woman's smile was a smile of victory, and her eyes were flickering with pity and contempt for her.
The moon outside the window was gradually obscured by clouds. She saw Lin Jinyun and Feng Mingzhou walking side by side in the courtyard. Their silhouettes looked so well-matched under the moonlight.
The moonlight made the outlines of the two people clearer, and their backs gradually moved away and finally disappeared around the corner.
Gu Manman stood in front of the window, forgetting even to blink, her eyes were sore and unbearable.
She was in a daze until midnight and fell asleep. When she opened her eyes, it was already eight o'clock in the morning.
She instinctively reached out to touch the place beside her, but only felt a cold bed sheet - Feng Mingzhou did not come back last night.
She swallowed the breakfast brought by the waiter without any taste and decided to take a walk in the courtyard. Perhaps the fresh air could clear her confused mind.
The garden design of Jiangjia Villa is exquisite and elegant, with winding paths passing through bamboo forests, crossing trickling streams, and reaching the lake.
Gu Manman didn't want to see Lin Jinyun by the lake. She wanted to leave quietly, but was stopped by Lin Jinyun.
"Young writer also likes taking walks?" Lin Jinyun's smile was perfect, but there was a look of condescending indifference in her eyes.
Gu Manman nodded stiffly: "I'm ready to go back."
"So anxious?" Lin Jinyun raised his hand and pointed to the pavilion by the lake in the distance, "Mingzhou and the others are all over there."
Gu Manman couldn't help but look in the direction of her finger. Sure enough, several men were chatting in the pavilion, and Feng Mingzhou's tall figure was particularly eye-catching.
"I have a question for you," Lin Jinyun suddenly approached her and lowered his voice, "What would happen if you pushed me into the lake right now?"
Gu Manman was confused by this question, but then she realized what she was trying to do and sneered, "This old trick is too uncreative. I wouldn't even use it when writing a novel."
Lin Jinyun smiled and stared at her: "It doesn't matter if the plot is old-fashioned, as long as it works."
She paused, her voice sickeningly sweet: "Guess, does Mingzhou believe you or me?"
Before Gu Manman could react, Lin Jinyun had already grabbed her wrist tightly. The force was so great that the sharp nails dug into her skin, causing her to gasp in pain.
"What are you doing? Let me go!" Gu Manman struggled and tried to pull her hand back.
Lin Jinyun's eyes flashed coldly: "Let me help you."
Gu Manman felt a strong force coming from her wrist, and she lost her balance and stumbled forward. Lin Jinyun cleverly used the force to fall backwards, sliding towards the lake as if someone had pushed her down.
With a "splash", the lake water was stirred up.
The sound of the lake water splashing startled the people in the pavilion. Gu Manman looked at the lake in horror, only to see Lin Jinyun struggling and making sharp cries for help.
"Help!"
The figures in the pavilion immediately ran towards this side, led by Feng Mingzhou.
Without any hesitation, he threw off his coat and jumped into the lake. After a few powerful strokes, he came to Lin Jinyun, put his arm around her waist, and lifted her out of the water.
"It's okay, I'm here." Feng Mingzhou's calm voice comforted the frightened woman in his arms.
Feng Mingzhou carried Lin Jinyun to the shore, and Jiang Shao and Zhao Yang hurried forward to help. Lin Jinyun was soaked, his hair stuck to his pale face, his eyes were closed, and his whole body was trembling.
Feng Mingzhou picked her up and held her sideways. His white shirt was completely wet and stuck to his body.
"What did you do?" The look he gave Gu Manman was bone-chillingly cold.
Gu Manman opened her mouth to explain, but no sound came out. The eyes of the people around her were like invisible arrows, all shooting at her.
"Mingzhou..." Lin Jinyun leaned weakly in Feng Mingzhou's arms, her voice as thin as a mosquito, "It's so cold..."
Feng Mingzhou looked down at Lin Jinyun in his arms, and his eyes softened instantly. He tightened his arms and held her tighter in his arms: "Don't be afraid, I'll take you back right away."
He took big steps, holding Lin Jinyun in his arms, and walked towards the main building, leaving a trail of wet footprints on the gravel road.
She stood there, shivering in the morning breeze from the lake, but the chill in her heart was even greater.
Gu Manman didn't know how long she stood by the lake. She looked at the lake surface wrinkled by the morning breeze, and in a trance she seemed to see the smug smile on Lin Jinyun's face before he fell into the water.
She had never thought that things would turn out like this, and she had never expected Feng Mingzhou to look at her like that - cold, accusatory, and even a little strange.
Finally, she moved her stiff legs and walked towards the main building step by step.
In the lobby of the main building, Jiang Shao's wife was talking in a low voice with several female guests. When they saw Gu Manman come in, their voices stopped abruptly.
"Boss Feng has already sent Miss Lin to the hospital."
She nodded, but her throat seemed to be blocked by something and she couldn't make a sound.
In the hospital corridor, Feng Mingzhou put his hands in his suit trouser pockets, his brows furrowed.
The shirt he had just put on was dry and fresh, with no sign that it had been soaked in lake water a few hours ago.
Zhao Yang came over with two cups of coffee and handed him one: "Jin Yun is fine, just a little frightened, just take a rest."
Feng Mingzhou took the coffee, but his eyes drifted away, and no one knew what he was thinking. His profile was angular, and his tightly pursed lips revealed that he was in a bad mood.
"Don't be too angry," Zhao Yang said tentatively, "Women are bound to be a little jealous."
"I have spoiled her so much during this period that she has lost her mind." Feng Mingzhou said in a low voice with a hint of self-mockery, "She has become spoiled because of her spoiling."
Zhao Yang was stunned for a moment, and asked uncertainly: "Are you saying Manman did it on purpose?"
Feng Mingzhou did not answer, but his eyes became more serious.
"I know Manman well. To be honest, I don't believe she would do such a thing." Zhao Yang said, stroking his chin, "But things between women are indeed complicated."
Feng Mingzhou drank the coffee in one gulp, then crushed the paper cup and threw it into the trash can.
"Find a driver to take her back." He said in a deep voice.
"You don't personally..."
"Let the driver take you there." Feng Mingzhou interrupted him, his eyes as cold as iron.
Zhao Yang shrugged, took out his cell phone and made a call, instructing the villa's housekeeper to arrange a vehicle to take Gu Manman back to the city.
