Chapter 125 Observatory
Outside the porthole, there was an all-encompassing orange-red glow, dyeing the endless sea of clouds into a burning warm hue.
The sun was slowly sinking into the horizon, with a dazzling golden edge on its edge.
Gu Manman curled up on the large sofa bed, her cheek pressed against the slightly cool window, looking lost in thought.
Feng Mingzhou sat next to her, looking at the tablet computer intently.
Gu Manman looked out the window for a while, then turned her head to look at him.
She moved her body and reached out to tug at his sleeve.
Feng Mingzhou raised his eyes and moved his gaze from the screen to her face, asking inquiries.
"Don't look anymore," Gu Manman pointed out the window, "Look, the sunset is so beautiful today."
He followed her gaze out the window. The setting sun was like melting gold and the clouds were like fire. It was indeed beautiful.
Gu Manman was not satisfied with him just taking a look, so she simply stood up and moved closer, leaning half of her body on him, and forced his head to turn towards the window.
"Watch it with me." She said half coquettishly and half commandingly.
Feng Mingzhou let her fiddle with it and simply turned off the tablet. He naturally put his arms around her waist and pulled her into his arms. The two of them looked at the gorgeous scene outside the window together.
The light of the setting sun dimmed little by little, and the color of the sky transitioned from deep orange to gentle pink and purple.
"Hey," Gu Manman leaned on his shoulder, her voice lazy, "Why are we leaving at this time?"
Feng Mingzhou tilted his head, his nose brushed against her hair, and his deep voice rang in her ears: "We are not going back to Jiangcheng."
Gu Manman was stunned and raised her head from his arms: "Not going back to Jiangcheng? Then where are we going?"
He looked at the curiosity in her eyes, the corners of his mouth curled up, but he didn't answer directly, he just reached out and pinched her cheek.
"Take you somewhere."
When the plane landed, it was completely dark outside the window.
There was no helipad, only a simple runway extending to the seaside. A black SUV was parked next to it with its lights on and the driver was waiting respectfully by the door.
After getting in the car, we drove along the coastline in the night.
On one side is the dark sea with the faint sound of waves hitting the shore, and on the other side is lush tropical vegetation with hazy shadows.
"Where exactly is this place?" Gu Manman couldn't help but ask again, looking at the completely unfamiliar environment outside the window.
Feng Mingzhou held her hand and kept her in suspense: "We'll be there soon."
The car turned a corner and a brightly lit area appeared in front.
The building is not high and is hidden among the coconut trees. It has a simple and modern style and low-key luxury.
The car stopped in front of a villa.
Feng Mingzhou led her out of the car and took her through a small garden full of exotic flowers and plants to the terrace of the villa facing the sea.
The night breeze blew her hair.
The sound of waves was heard in the distance, and overhead was a sky full of stars, so clear that they seemed within reach.
"Here..." Gu Manman looked around. The air was fresh and the environment was quiet, completely different from the bustling city.
"Nanfeng Island." Feng Mingzhou hugged her from behind, resting his chin on the top of her head. "I bought it before, but I never had the chance to bring you here."
Gu Manman followed his gaze and found a dome-shaped building on a slightly higher ground not far away.
"What's that?" She pointed in that direction.
"observatory."
"Could it be... that you also built it?"
Feng Mingzhou lowered his head, rubbed her cheek with the tip of his nose, and said with a smile in his voice: "Yes, it was built for you."
He looked at her stunned expression, the tenderness in his eyes almost overflowing.
"Didn't you say before that you liked looking at the stars?"
Feng Mingzhou looked down at his watch and said, "It's about time," and took her hand, "Let's go."
Gu Manman let him pull her and walked up along a winding path.
Entering the observatory, there is a huge curved glass dome on the top. The deep and boundless night sky is completely presented before your eyes. The stars are dotted like overturned diamonds, covered with black velvet.
Just as Gu Manman was immersed in the quiet sea of stars, an unusually bright white light suddenly broke the tranquility of the night sky, dragging a long tail, and instantly disappeared into the darkness.
"Ah..." Gu Manman cried out subconsciously, her eyes wide open.
Immediately afterwards, the second and third meteors followed.
More and more, more and more dense.
Meteors are like a sudden shower on a summer night, falling all over the sky, leaving short and brilliant tracks in the night sky, like silent fireworks.
Gu Manman was completely captured by the magnificent and dreamy scene before her and even forgot to breathe.
She could clearly hear her own heartbeat like a drum.
This moment of splendor seemed like a grand performance gifted by the universe to the two of them alone.
After an unknown amount of time, this grand meteor shower gradually became sparse.
Feng Mingzhou didn't move or speak, he just turned his head and looked at her quietly.
Gu Manman also turned her head and met his deep gaze.
His eyes were incredibly focused, filled with complex and burning emotions: seriousness, tenderness, and... nervousness.
Then he pulled a small black velvet box from his pocket.
With a soft "click" sound, the box was opened.
A diamond ring lay quietly on the dark velvet.
The main diamond has amazing brilliance, as if all the brilliance of the meteors in the sky just now has been condensed into this small space.
Gu Manman's heart began to beat wildly, hitting her chest and making a deafening sound.
She looked at him, at the deep affection and unmistakable seriousness in his eyes, and at the ring shining under the starlight...
Feng Mingzhou's Adam's apple rolled slightly.
"Gu Manman," he said, enunciating each word clearly and solemnly, "marry me."
Gu Manman looked at the man kneeling on one knee in front of her and was speechless for a moment.
Under the starry dome, after just experiencing a thrilling meteor shower, Feng Mingzhou's proposal came so perfectly yet unexpectedly.
She lowered her eyes to look at the diamond ring, which was shining like stars, as if it had condensed the brilliance of the entire universe.
"This is..." Gu Manman murmured, her voice trembling slightly.
"I customized it especially for you." Feng Mingzhou's voice was low and gentle. "This diamond was cut from the rarest pink diamond."
He held her hand: "Gu Manman, be my wife, legitimately."
"I thought we were already. Didn't you announce it in Tianjin?" She teased him deliberately.
A hint of smile flashed across Feng Mingzhou's eyes: "That was just a unilateral announcement."
He held her hand, his eyes firm, "I want you to promise me in person. I want you to be my wife willingly."
