Chapter 131 Extra - An Ordinary Day

Chapter 131 Extra - An Ordinary Day

The first rays of sunlight in the morning filtered through the gaps in the heavy curtains, casting a thin golden line on the dark carpet.

Feng Mingzhou had already woken up. He lay on his side, staring motionlessly at Gu Manman who was sleeping beside him.

Her breathing was even and long, a few strands of hair were scattered on the pillow, and her cheeks had a warm luster like jade.

He stood up quietly, stepped barefoot on the carpet, and walked into the bathroom.

After washing up, he came back with a glass of water.

He tested the temperature with the skin on the inside of his wrist, and it was about the forty-five degrees she was used to.

Putting the glass of water on the bedside table, he went into the cloakroom again.

The intelligent system shows the weather in Jiangcheng today: sunny, light breeze, maximum temperature of 22 degrees, and moderate ultraviolet intensity.

He passed over the overly bright or revealing dresses and picked out a champagne-colored silk shirt and a pair of neatly cut white trousers for her.

He ironed the clothes flat and hung them in the most conspicuous place.

After doing all this, he went downstairs to the kitchen and tied his apron skillfully.

Gu Manman woke up and immediately saw the water at the head of the bed and the complete set of matching clothes hanging there.

She picked up the glass of water and drank it all.

For ten years, this man treated her like a child who couldn't take care of herself.

In the restaurant, Feng Mingzhou had already prepared breakfast.

Freshly squeezed orange juice, perfectly fried sunny-side-up eggs, a few slices of golden and crispy toast, and a small bowl of soft, sweet seafood porridge.

Feng Mingzhou was putting the peeled shrimps into her bowl of porridge.

"I'm stuffed."

"No." Feng Mingzhou picked up another piece of green asparagus with chopsticks and placed it next to her bowl. "Eat these."

Gu Manman looked at him helplessly: "Boss Feng, I'm going to be late for work."

"Qin's will not go bankrupt if it opens five minutes later." He put her spoon back into her hand and stared at her. "You have a three-hour meeting in the morning. If you don't eat enough, what will you do if you have low blood sugar in the middle of the meeting?"

"I have prepared snacks."

Feng Mingzhou's brows immediately frowned, as if he had heard something unforgivable.

"No junk food. Finish your porridge."

Gu Manman looked at his stubborn look, as if to say "I will never let you go until you finish eating", and felt both angry and amused.

After breakfast, Feng Mingzhou insisted on sending Gu Manman to Qin Group.

"I can drive myself. It's not like I don't know the way."

“There are too many cars on the road, it’s not safe.”

Feng Mingzhou started the car and gave a plausible excuse.

The car drove into the underground garage of Qin's Building.

Feng Mingzhou held Gu Manman's hand, and the employees coming and going bowed to greet them.

In the conference room, Gu Manman sat in the main seat and listened to reports from various departments.

Feng Mingzhou did not participate, but just moved a chair and opened his laptop to handle official business.

But his powerful aura silently enveloped the entire space, causing all the executives present to sit upright and even breathe carefully.

A new project director, young and promising, was probably a little nervous when reporting, and his eyes always fell on Gu Manman unconsciously, with undisguised appreciation and admiration in his eyes.

Halfway through his report, he suddenly felt a chill on the back of his neck, as if he was being stared at by some ferocious beast.

He looked up subconsciously and met Feng Mingzhou's gaze.

The look was cold and scrutinizing.

The young director's heart skipped a beat and a layer of cold sweat instantly broke out on his back. His originally fluent words began to become halting.

Until the man in the corner withdrew his gaze and looked at his computer screen again.

The young director finally breathed a sigh of relief, but he dared not look at the female president sitting in the main seat anymore.

It was already evening when the last meeting ended.

The two arrived at the riverside.

The afterglow of the setting sun dyed the surface of the river into a golden glow, and the evening breeze blew away the noise of the day.

The two walked side by side on the trail along the river, without speaking a word, but there was a kind of unspoken tacit understanding flowing between them.

Not far away, a white-haired old lady was selling fruit from a bamboo basket.

The oranges and pears in the basket were crooked, with dirt and spots on their skin. They were far inferior to the shiny and bright imported fruits in the supermarket.

"Let's buy some fruit." Gu Manman pulled his sleeve.

Feng Mingzhou frowned. He always stayed away from such street stalls, always feeling that they were not hygienic enough.

"Feng Mingzhou," Gu Manman saw through his thoughts and shook his arm with a bit of coquettishness, "Just buy a little bit."

How could he stand her like this?

Gu Manman went forward and picked out a few oranges and two pears. When she was paying, the old lady selling the fruit raised her wrinkled face and looked at them with a smile.

"The young couple has such a good relationship," the old lady said in a soft and sticky accent unique to the local area, "the gentleman's eyes have never left you."

Gu Manman was stunned and looked back. Sure enough, Feng Mingzhou was staring at her without blinking. His eyes were so focused that it seemed as if he wanted to carve her into his bones.

Before she could say anything, she heard Feng Mingzhou say to the old lady in his deep voice, "I want all the rest."

The old lady was stunned, looking at the stack of cash he handed over, feeling a little overwhelmed.

In the end, while Gu Manman was at a loss whether to laugh or cry, Feng Mingzhou still bought the whole basket of fruit and asked the driver to come and take it away.

The two continued walking forward, and Gu Manman peeled an orange, broke off a slice and handed it to his mouth.

Feng Mingzhou opened his mouth and took it in, the sweet and sour juice exploded in his mouth.

"Boss Feng is really rich," Gu Manman ate a slice herself and squinted her eyes because of the sourness. She couldn't help but tease him, "Are you planning to buy all the stalls along the river?"

Feng Mingzhou didn't respond to her. He just took the remaining orange from her hand, peeled it slowly, tore off the peel from each segment, and then fed it to her.

"I just think she's right."

He looked at her, the sunset reflected on the river surface fell into his deep eyes, spreading gentle ripples.

Gu Manman's heart seemed to be gently warmed by the sunset.

She was about to say something when Feng Mingzhou suddenly stopped, and on the busy riverside, he pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly as if no one was around.

His chin rested on the top of her head, and his voice was so low that it was almost blown away by the wind, but it reached her ears clearly.

"Gu Manman," he said, as if sighing or swearing, "My eyes will never leave you in this life."

The old lady was right.

It's not that he doesn't want to move, it's that he simply can't move.

Ten years later, everyone says that no matter how strong the feelings are, they will be diluted by time and eventually turn into ordinary family affection.

But he is not.

For him, time is not a panacea to heal his wounds, but a poison that makes him sicker.

Afraid that she might have any accident, afraid that she might frown, afraid that she might feel bored one day.

He arranged everything for her in detail.

Zhao Yang always laughed at him for being morbid and said that he was raising a daughter.

But none of them understood.

I don't understand how it feels to have your heart taken out and left out in the wind and rain.
