Chapter 97 Stolen Tender Moments
Gu Manman watched him drink up the milk in the cup without leaving a drop.
Then he turned and went into the bathroom.
She looked around. On the sink was her facial cleanser, next to it was her electric toothbrush, her frequently used light blue towel was hung on the wall, and in the corner was her cat ear headband.
Everything was the same as before she left, as if she had never been far away.
After taking a shower, the door was just opened a crack——
Then I saw Feng Mingzhou standing outside the door waiting, motionless.
He reached out his hand, grasped her wrist somewhat mechanically, and gently pulled her out.
Gu Manman let him take her to the dressing table and sit down.
He picked up the hair dryer next to him.
The buzzing sound of warm air was heard.
He stood behind her, running his fingers softly through her hair.
Gu Manman looked at the man in the mirror who was concentrating on blowing her hair, and felt that Feng Mingzhou now looked like a puppet with a set program.
/
It was late at night, but Gu Manman still couldn't sleep.
The bedside lamp was still on, and the soft light covered half of the bed.
She lay on her side, looking at the carpet beside the bed.
Feng Mingzhou just sat on the ground, leaning against the edge of the bed, staring at her motionlessly.
His gaze was frighteningly focused, and he didn't blink, as if he was afraid that if he blinked any longer she would disappear.
Gu Manman felt uneasy when he looked at her: "You... don't want to sleep?"
"You didn't sleep." He answered as a matter of course, his voice a little hoarse.
"Then I'm going to sleep, you should go to bed too."
"Okay." He nodded, but his body showed no intention of getting up.
Gu Manman closed her eyes helplessly and forced herself to fall asleep.
But that gaze was still burning, making her feel uncomfortable. She secretly opened her eyes and found that he was still there, his posture had not changed.
"Feng Mingzhou..."
"Um?"
"I can't sleep if you look at me like this."
He was silent for a few seconds, and said softly, "But, as soon as I close my eyes, you will sink into the sea."
Gu Manman turned her head to look at him.
In the light of the desk lamp, she saw his face clearly.
There were deep bruises under his eyes and he looked exhausted, but his eyes were unusually bright, with a kind of almost paranoid clarity.
"How long have you been awake?" she asked.
He thought for a moment and said, "I can't remember clearly."
/
The sky was just beginning to show a hint of paleness, and light filtered through the gaps in the curtains.
Gu Manman slowly opened her eyes and felt her eyelids were extremely heavy.
She stayed awake all night, her nerves tense, guarding against Feng Mingzhou who might lose control at any time.
Even though she was extremely sleepy, she only dared to close her eyes and pretend to sleep, not daring to actually fall asleep.
On the carpet beside the bed, the man still maintained the same posture as last night, sitting there quietly.
Feng Mingzhou stood straight with his arms around his knees, his face turned towards her, his dark eyes staring intently at her on the bed.
His eyes were bloodshot, but his expression was unusually clear.
He didn't blink.
Even the posture has not changed.
A chill ran through Gu Manman's heart.
He just stared at her like that for the whole night?
"You didn't sleep all night?" Her voice was a little hoarse.
"You haven't slept either." Feng Mingzhou's voice became even hoarser, with a rough feeling from not having had water for a long time.
Gu Manman wanted to sit up, and Feng Mingzhou immediately took action.
He stood up quickly, his tall figure instantly appeared beside the bed, and reached out to help her.
Gu Manman instinctively stepped back, pressing her body against the head of the bed.
Feng Mingzhou's hand stopped in mid-air, his fingers trembling slightly.
He looked at the wariness and fear in her eyes and his face turned even paler.
"I won't hurt you."
His voice was soft, with a cautious plea.
Gu Manman didn't say anything, but just looked at him warily.
Feng Mingzhou slowly withdrew his hand and sat down on the carpet again.
He lowered his head and looked exhausted.
"I'm sorry." His voice was almost inaudible. "I...I scared you last night."
Gu Manman observed his expression and confirmed that he had temporarily regained his sanity before she carefully got out of bed.
Feng Mingzhou immediately looked up at her, his eyes following her figure closely.
As she moved toward the door, his body visibly tensed.
"I'll go wash up." Gu Manman explained.
"Okay." Feng Mingzhou nodded, but still did not look away.
After washing up, she opened the door.
Feng Mingzhou was still in the same place, but his posture had changed.
He turned sideways toward the bathroom door, apparently waiting for the moment she would come out.
When Feng Mingzhou saw her coming out, he immediately said, "I'll go prepare breakfast for you."
When he passed by her, his steps were a little unsteady. It was obvious that his body was reaching its limit after a sleepless night.
Gu Manman followed him downstairs.
In the restaurant, the butler had already prepared a sumptuous breakfast.
Feng Mingzhou sat at the dining table and naturally pulled out the chair next to him.
He served her porridge and put two buns on the plate in front of her. His movements were so familiar that it seemed as if they had never been apart and had always lived such a plain and intimate life.
Gu Manman quietly drank her porridge with her eyes lowered, occasionally looking up at him.
He ate very little, and most of the time, his eyes were on her, a little too focused.
Because Feng Mingzhou knew very well that the stolen tender time would soon be over.
/
Huo Yunting stood in front of the desk, his face showing an anxious and annoyed expression.
"Grandpa! You're moving too fast, aren't you? Why didn't you discuss this with me before you decided to cancel the engagement?" He complained, "I've never seen you act so decisively before!"
Old Master Huo sat in a large armchair, holding a cup of freshly brewed Longjing tea in his hand. He blew away the hot steam slowly and raised his eyelids to look at him.
"Oh? Who told me that in this day and age, arranged marriages are still being arranged and that they don't respect the wishes of young people at all?"
Huo Yunting was choked, his cheeks flushed suspiciously, his eyes wandered for a moment, and he stiffened his neck to argue: "I... I didn't see anyone!"
He took a half step forward, and his tone softened, a little flattering: "Besides, arranged marriages are not completely impossible. After all, you have eaten more salt than I have eaten rice, so you must have a sharp eye and be able to judge people accurately!"
Mr. Huo put down the teacup, and the bottom of the cup hit the table with a crisp sound.
He snorted as he watched his grandson make a 180-degree turn.
"Now you know that I have a good eye? It's too late."
"It's no use. The marriage is already called off anyway."
Huo Yunting was anxious: "I can't bring it up again after I withdraw?!"
Old Master Huo glanced at him calmly and said, "Miss Gu came to my house in person and said so with a firm attitude. I can't lose my reputation, can I?"
Huo Yunting gritted his teeth, as if he had made up his mind: "Okay! Then I'll go after her myself! This doesn't count as taking care of everything for me, right?"
After saying that, he turned around and walked out without waiting for Mr. Huo to say anything else.
The door of the study swayed slightly as he opened it, but before it closed completely, another figure appeared at the door.
Huo Yunshen walked in.
"Grandpa." He walked to the desk.
Mr. Huo picked up the teacup, took another sip, and then asked slowly, "What's the matter?"
Huo Yunshen's eyes fell on the scattered documents on the desk, and he casually mentioned: "The marriage between our family and the Qin family..."
Mr. Huo raised his eyes, his sharp gaze swept across his face, and he smiled: "Why? Are you attracted to her too?"
Huo Yunshen paused for a moment, catching the word: "Also?"
"Who else?"
Mr. Huo put down his teacup and leaned back in his chair.
"When I asked you to try it out, didn't you say you weren't interested and didn't want to delay the girl? Didn't you even take the initiative to ask your brother to give it a try?"
"What? Do you regret it now?" Old Master Huo looked at him. "When I gave it to you, you didn't want it, so you gave it to your brother. Now you want it... it's gone."
He sighed, "You two are going to piss me off to death."
"Alas, beauty is a disaster..."

Feng: Manman, I want to force love.
Man: No.
Feng: Well... okay.
