Chapter 16 Su Yueya Arrives in the Capital

Lu Zhengjun beat Liu Dekai up that day and didn't take him to heart.

He was thinking about how to inform Su Yueya.

Earlier on the train, Lu Zhengjun wanted Su Yueya's contact information. He was in the military and often went on missions to other provinces, sometimes even to other military units.

It would definitely be more convenient for him to go find Liu Dekai, the deputy battalion commander, than for Su Yueya.

Who would have thought that, by sheer coincidence, Liu Dekai had come to the capital's military unit.

But he didn't have Su Yueya's contact information, nor did he know where she lived. How could he contact her?

At the time, on the train, all I knew was that she was going to Shanghai to find someone first, and if she couldn't find them there, she said she would come to Beijing.

Oh, what a silly girl.

Thinking of what Su Yueya had said back then, Lu Zhengjun couldn't help but sigh.

Liu Dekai's actions were so obvious; he didn't believe Su Yueya knew nothing. But she was stubborn and insisted that Liu Dekai say it to her face.

Although Su Yueya was dressed plainly, she was beautiful, intelligent, and quick-witted; a woman like her would never have trouble finding a husband.

How could she abandon her family and travel thousands of miles to find her husband for such a man, just for an explanation? It's really unnecessary.

Lu Zhengjun couldn't figure it out. She pondered whether to wait for Su Yueya to come to her on her own, or to send someone to Shanghai to see where Su Yueya had gone.

At this very moment, Su Yueya had already boarded the train to the capital.

She checked her wallet; although the cost of living in big cities is high, she still had a dozen or so yuan left, enough to take a train to the capital.

The population of Beijing is much larger than that of Shanghai, so the prices should be about the same. I simply bought a train ticket.

If Liu Dekai isn't in Shanghai, then the chances of him being in Beijing or Guangzhou are about 50/50.

That night, Su Yueya returned to the guesthouse and began packing her things. The next morning, she boarded a train to the capital.

After buying the ticket, Su Yueya only had ten yuan and three cents left in her hand.

She was traveling alone by train, so she didn't have much luggage with her; the rest was in the space.

When eating, like most people, I take out the flatbread I made myself from my backpack, sometimes with some pickled vegetables, and get some water when I'm thirsty.

On the train to Shanghai, Su Yueya met the enthusiastic Sister Wang and even uncovered two human traffickers. Together with two soldiers, they subdued the traffickers.

Su Yueya was even taken hostage for the first time, with a knife held to her neck, and she almost bled.

Even now, thinking back on the harrowing experience of that day still fills me with lingering fear.

However, this train journey was peaceful and uneventful, without any unexpected incidents. After three days and three nights, we finally arrived in the capital.

After getting off the train, the scenery here is quite different from that in Shanghai.

Hopefully, we can find Liu Dekai this time.

Her wallet couldn't support her finding anyone in Beijing, so she went to Huadu instead.

If she still can't find anyone after a few days of hard work, Su Yueya will have to find a way to make money, otherwise she might not even have a place to stay.

As usual, there were many uncles and aunties soliciting customers at the train station entrance. Su Yueya carried her small bag and quickly walked through the crowd, then found a guesthouse nearby.

Although the guesthouse is a bit more expensive than those small hotels, it is state-run and at least safe. For Su Yueya, a woman, to survive in an unfamiliar place, safety is the first priority.

I paid for three days' rent as usual, and after entering the room, I locked the door and drew the curtains.

After turning around and entering the space, Su Yueya cooked two dishes for herself.

Spicy and sour bok choy, stewed potatoes and eggplant, and some steamed buns.

Su Yueya has excellent cooking skills and often comes up with novel ideas. Combined with the ingredients in her space, whether it's vegetables or spiritual spring water, they all have flavors that can't be found elsewhere, making her dishes incredibly delicious.

During the three days on the train, she couldn't sleep well and could only eat dry biscuits. When she finally had a meal that she had made herself, Su Yueya finished it quickly.

She didn't leave the space until she was full and satisfied. After washing up, she prepared to go to bed.

Last time she took the train to Shanghai, she slept in a guesthouse for almost two days to recover her energy.

This time, I wasn't too tired.

It seems that he was frightened by those two human traffickers before getting off the bus.

Su Yueya packed everything up, then turned off the lights and went to sleep.

She needed to conserve her energy to prepare for visiting the troops in the capital tomorrow.

Six o'clock in the evening.

Liu Dekai finished get off work and returned to his family compound.

"Deputy Battalion Commander Liu, are you off work?"

"yes."

"Have you eaten? If not, come and eat with us."

"Let's do it another day. My mother has already prepared dinner at home today."

Ever since Liu Dekai arranged for Zhang Cuihua to come here, she has often come back for meals.

There are many acquaintances here. If it's dinner time, there will be more people in the residential compound, and a few people will always greet you.

Zhang Cuihua prepared three dishes and steamed some millet rice. She then set the food on the table, timing her son's return.

"mom."

"Dekai's back! Go wash your hands and come eat."

One tomato and egg dish, one stir-fried vegetable dish, and one Mapo tofu dish.

It looks good, but tastes just average.

Liu Dekai didn't think anything of it. When he was on missions, he often ate in the open and was often hungry. He could eat anything, and even these ordinary meals tasted delicious.

Soldiers need to train, so they eat more than ordinary people, and they eat faster. Zhang Cuihua hadn't finished half a bowl of rice, while Liu Dekai had already finished his second bowl.

Once he had filled his stomach a bit, Liu Dekai slowed down and started chatting.

It was then that he noticed his mother seemed to have a poor appetite; she had only been in the capital for less than a month, and she had already lost weight.
