Chapter 251: This level of difficulty is truly not something an ordinary person could handle.

Su Yueya blushed and said coquettishly, "So you realize you've been tormenting me too much lately?"

“I don’t care,” Lu Zhengjun said stubbornly, “but I still want to hold you while I sleep.”

On the day of departure, Su Yueya and the other three waited at the hospital entrance early in the morning.

Soon, a car drove up.

"Dr. Qiao, Dr. Su, let us help you with your luggage," Duan Chenyi said, taking over the physical work with Gao Haomiao.

"Okay, thank you." Qiao Xinruo didn't stand on ceremony at all, and got into the car with Su Yueya empty-handed.

"Doctors, it's about a five-hour drive to the mission location. Please rest in the car first. I'm the driver who will pick you up and drop you off. Feel free to ask me anything if you need anything or have any questions," said driver Xiao Zhao.

"Thank you, Xiao Zhao," Duan Chenyi said.

When they first set off, Duan Chenyi took the initiative to say some things to get closer to the other three, and they were passively drawn into the conversation.

However, the journey was long, and the road conditions were occasionally bad, making everyone very uncomfortable due to the bumpy ride.

Gradually, the sound of speaking ceased.

All four of them sat in the car and closed their eyes for a short rest.

"Doctors, there's a rest stop ahead. I'll stop there so you can use the restroom," Xiao Zhao said.

They set off early in the morning, and luckily Su Yueya had eaten breakfast in advance, so she wasn't too hungry.

Knowing that Qiao Xinruo was a bit of a sleepyhead and that there might not be anyone at home preparing breakfast in the morning, she brought a few steamed buns and pickled vegetables.

"Xinruo, would you like to have something to eat first?" Su Yueya took out the steamed buns.

"Yes!" Qiao Xinruo was starving. She had wanted to drink water to stave off her hunger, but she was worried about going to the toilet. She was both hungry and thirsty.

Over here, Qiao Xinruo was already wolfing down her steamed bun, which was filled with pickled vegetables. It was fragrant, spicy, and had the chewy texture of noodles.

Duan Chenyi didn't eat anything either. Seeing the bag of steamed buns in Su Yueya's hand and seeing Qiao Xinruo eating so deliciously, he unconsciously swallowed.

He's too embarrassed to speak up.

"Dr. Duan, we still have plenty of steamed buns here. Would you like some?" Su Yueya asked.

After all, they will be working together for some time to come, and as members of a team, they naturally need to help each other.

"Then... I won't be polite!" Duan Chenyi hesitated for a second before picking up the steamed bun and starting to eat.

“Here, don’t just eat steamed buns, there are also pickled vegetables here. My sister made them herself, they’re really delicious.” Qiao Xinruo generously shared the pickled vegetables.

Qiao Xinruo always maintained a cool and aloof image, like a flower on a high mountain. Usually, Duan Chenyi didn't have much of a chance to talk to her at the hospital. Now that Qiao Xinruo had taken the initiative to share some pickled vegetables with him, he was quite flattered.

"Dr. Qiao, thank you so much!"

Duan Chenyi put some pickled vegetables into the steamed bun, took a bite, and found it even more delicious!

"Delicious, Dr. Su. I didn't expect your homemade pickled vegetables to be so good. I thought they were store-bought," Duan Chenyi praised.

"As long as you like it, that's fine," Su Yueya said.

She noticed that Gao Haomiao hadn't said a word, his eyes closed as he leaned back in his chair, and she couldn't tell if he was asleep or not.

They had met a few times before, but Su Yueya and Gao Haomiao were really not familiar with each other.

"Dr. Gao?" Su Yueya asked, "I brought a lot of steamed buns. If you don't mind, you can share some with me."

Gao Haomiao opened his eyes.

Su Yueya: "..."

Turns out I wasn't asleep.

"Thank you, but I've already eaten and I'm not hungry right now." Gao Haomiao remained very polite and distant, but his attitude was normal.

A few hours later, Xiao Zhao brought the four doctors to the base and unloaded the supplies.

Apart from Qiao Xinruo, who had some experience, the other three were participating in this kind of mission for the first time. They were not mentally prepared beforehand, so when they found that they would have to help rescue the wounded soldiers as soon as they got off the vehicle, they were a little stunned.

"So fast? Not even a moment to catch your breath?" Duan Chenyi exclaimed in surprise.

The long journey left them physically and mentally exhausted, and their condition was certainly not good at that time. They could not be as ready as they were when working in the hospital.

"Stop talking nonsense, grab the first-aid kit, and follow the soldier leading the way," Qiao Xinruo said.

The four were taken to a makeshift tent, where several wounded soldiers were already lying in crooked positions.

"These conditions are terrible; the hygiene is substandard," Duan Chenyi said.

This is a common problem among academics: they want to do everything perfectly, but in reality, in extreme situations, there aren't that many requirements.

Who doesn't want a clean and sterile environment?

Given these conditions, does that mean we should ignore the soldiers' injuries just because the environment isn't suitable?

"Don't be picky. This is the best we can offer in an emergency. You should be grateful that you still have a tent."

The one who spoke was a military doctor who had been busy here.

"Time is tight, so let's skip the introductions for now. Duan Chenyi, you'll be in a group with Gao Haomiao, and I'll be in a group with Yueya. Let's deal with the most urgent injuries first."

As the only one with experience, Qiao Xinruo had to step up at this time.

"Okay!" The group nodded.

They first categorized the wounded soldiers. Those with bleeding wounds were stopped first, and those with broken bones were set first. In the current situation, most of them had serious external injuries.

"I've run out of gauze here, Xiao Gao, do you have any more?" Duan Chenyi's once clean clothes were now covered in dirt.

“I have more here!” Gao Haomiao immediately took out two rolls of gauze.
