Chapter 276 Explosion

The battle plan has been arranged.

One of the agents kidnapped an innocent little boy as a hostage, and the one who was trying to arrest him was none other than Lu Zhengjun.

"Don't go any further, or I'll kill him right now!" the agent shouted, pressing the gleaming blade against the boy's neck. A string of fine beads of blood immediately seeped from the boy's neck.

"Ah—" The pain and fear made the boy scream.

Let alone children, even adults would probably find it difficult to remain calm in this situation.

"Help me! Help me!"

"I don't want to die! Please save me!"

The boy was stiffly controlled by the secret agents, the blade pressed against his neck making him afraid to move, and large beads of sweat slid down his forehead.

"Calm down!" Lu Zhengjun waved his hand, signaling the soldiers with him to retreat. "We won't go forward, calm down first!"

“So, you want a hostage? You release him, and I'll be your hostage,” Lu Zhengjun proposed the exchange.

He was confident that if he could get close to the spy, he could subdue him and save the little boy at the same time.

"Ha..." The agent didn't even consider Lu Zhengjun's suggestion. "Do you think I'm stupid?"

Having clashed with Lu Zhengjun multiple times, the agents were very familiar with him and knew how difficult he was to deal with. Being surrounded by him was basically a death sentence.

Why send him as a hostage? He probably thinks he's dying too slowly.

"Okay, calm down first!" Lu Zhengjun observed the surrounding environment and quickly calculated the possible escape routes of the other party in his mind in order to respond.

"If you don't want him to die, then get back! All of you, get out of here!"

The agent knew very well that he couldn't escape so easily in the current situation. His only chance was to use the hostages in his hands to secure the most favorable conditions for himself.

"Let's retreat!" Lu Zhengjun said, immediately signaling the soldiers behind him to retreat together.

However, they only retreated a short distance; the spies remained under Lu Zhengjun's control. The most difficult task now was how to safely rescue the hostages.

As the agents retreated, he also kept retreating in the opposite direction, mentally estimating the amount of gasoline he had prepared earlier.

The goal is to inflict damage on Lu Zhengjun and her group while simultaneously ensuring one's own safe escape...

Just after that critical point was reached, the agent sheathed his weapon and shoved the hostage forward abruptly—

With his free hand, he immediately pulled out the prepared gunpowder from behind his back, pulled the pin, and threw it towards the location where the gasoline was hidden.

"Boom——"

The explosion, accompanied by a burst of flames, instantly turned half the sky red.

"It exploded!"

The little boy, who was being held hostage, didn't even have time to feel happy about his chance to live before he was torn to pieces by the gunpowder explosion and died without a complete corpse.

Lu Zhengjun and his soldiers, unable to escape in time, were also severely injured in the bombing.

"Explosion! Come quick, save people!"

Fortunately, Lu Zhengjun had divided his subordinates into three teams. The team he led, except for himself and a few soldiers who stayed close together, kept a distance from the rest of the team and thus escaped the aftershocks of the explosion.

"The spy escaped, you continue the pursuit, the rest of you rescue the people!" The uninjured soldiers quickly continued to assign tasks.

Su Yueya, who was in a temporary medical tent at that moment, trembled all over after hearing the explosion.

"Boom——"

"What was that noise just now? Was it an explosion?"

"It should be!"

"Oh no, will our soldiers get injured in the explosion?"

"It's hard to say..."

Su Yueya was restless. She paced back and forth at the tent entrance, looking into the distance, but she couldn't see anything clearly.

"No, no, it can't be him..."

Su Yueya kept repeating it, without even knowing what she was saying; she just kept repeating it mechanically.

“Sister,” Qiao Xinruo walked over, held Su Yueya’s hand tightly, and looked at her with firm eyes, “Don’t worry, it’s definitely not your brother-in-law. He’s a top soldier, he can’t possibly get hurt, don’t worry!”

"Yes, you're right, he couldn't possibly be hurt, it's impossible..." Su Yueya nodded, tears welling up in her eyes again.

However, any words seem so pale at this moment.

No matter how many times you say it's impossible, it's not as reassuring as seeing Lu Zhengjun standing safely in front of you.

"Could you send someone over to inquire?" Qiao Xinruo asked the soldiers protecting them.

"Don't worry, a team has already been sent over there," the soldier said.

The explosion was so loud that we were going to go and check it out.

The team arrived quickly.

The explosion site was now a ruin, and on top of the ruins lay many uniformed soldiers lying haphazardly.

"Many soldiers are wounded, hurry!"

Although they arrived just in time, the outcome was not so fortunate.

After a thorough search, it was discovered that only three people were still breathing at the scene; all the other soldiers had perished, and some had even lost their limbs.

"Are there any survivors?" the soldier asked.

Another soldier shook his head with a solemn expression. He was also unwilling to believe the result. They had already checked twice, but there were indeed only three survivors.

"Get these three back for emergency treatment first; they might still be able to survive!"

Even the three people who were lucky enough to still be breathing might not actually survive; they were all on the verge of death.

The team consisted of four people, three of whom each carried one item and immediately headed towards the medical tent.

There was one person left who hadn't carried anyone. He was the lightest, so he sped up and ran to the front to get back to the tent and deliver the message.

"There's been an explosion ahead, and the casualties are severe. Three seriously wounded soldiers are being brought over immediately. Please prepare for their treatment as soon as possible!" the soldier said, helping to tidy up the scene.

"Explosion injuries? Are they serious? How many people died?"

The soldier's eyes were already red, but this was not the time for sentimentality. He had to do everything he could to rescue the three people he had brought back in order to minimize casualties.

"It's extremely serious. Many people died at the scene, only three were still breathing, and those three..." The soldier hesitated, unsure how to describe it, before continuing, "...they were almost unrecognizable!"

"So badly injured?!"

Listening to the soldiers' conversation, Su Yueya felt her legs go weak.

The unease that had been lingering around her suddenly felt tangible, enveloping her completely and making it almost impossible for her to breathe.

A voice told her that Lu Zhengjun was injured...

Or perhaps, he wasn't one of the three at all; he might have been a mangled corpse lying at the scene!

"Everyone, quickly set up the scene! Three wounded people are arriving soon, and they are seriously injured, so we need to cooperate in their treatment..."
