Chapter 49 How come this woman looks exactly like Su Yueya?

At this time of year, many military dependents in the compound would usually go out to buy groceries or run errands.

I will greet acquaintances when I meet them.

Just then, Zhang Cuihua finished eating at home and decided to take advantage of the early hour to go to the market.

She hasn't been feeling well lately and has to walk slowly, so she thought she should leave early so she wouldn't be too late when she got to the market and could buy cheap and fresh vegetables.

Liu Dekai is away on a mission and hasn't returned yet. She's the only one eating at home, so naturally she's reluctant to spend money on food.

Even though her son is now a deputy battalion commander with a monthly income of one hundred, Zhang Cuihua knows that she is in poor health and her son is very filial. If she gets sick one day, her son will definitely pay for her medical treatment, so she has to be careful with her money.

As soon as she stepped outside, Zhang Cuihua spotted a woman in a green dress in the distance—

Oh no!

This woman looks exactly like Su Yueya!

Zhang Cuihua was terrified.

Despite his leg injury, he quickly hid in a corner with his shopping basket.

Am I seeing things?

Zhang Cuihua peeked out and sized up the seemingly intimate couple over there.

The man was very tall and looked like a soldier. The woman was a spitting image of Su Yueya. She was wearing a green dress and looked very stylish. The two were arm in arm, clearly a couple, or at the very least, dating!

But how could Su Yueya possibly have come to the capital?

Zhang Cuihua was completely baffled. When she and Liu Dekai secretly left the village, they left behind only three yuan!

Three yuan isn't even enough to buy a train ticket.

Even if Su Yueya realized what was happening and came to the military base to find someone, she wouldn't have the means!

Something's not right...

Zhang Cuihua sized up the man and "Su Yueya" while pondering to herself.

It's probably just that people have similarities.

Where does Su Yueya get the air of a city dweller?

Moreover, upon closer inspection, the woman in the green dress was clearly prettier than Su Yueya, and a bit more rounded, unlike Su Yueya's skinny appearance.

Even so, Zhang Cuihua remained cautious.

She watched the two people leave the compound before emerging from the corner to continue selling vegetables.

"My old eyes are so blurry, I must have seen it wrong!" Zhang Cuihua slapped her forehead.

In reality, Su Yueya had simply gained some weight because the food had been good lately.

She is indeed rounder than she was in the village.

But it also makes her figure look better.

Lu Zhengjun and Su Yueya arrived at the cinema just in time for the movie to start, and they prepared to enter.

"etc."

Lu Zhengjun suddenly stopped.

"What's wrong?"

Su Yueya looked at him in confusion, only to see Lu Zhengjun walking towards the small shop next to the entrance.

It turns out he spent money to buy a bottle of soda.

"It's hot, something cold will make you feel better." Lu Zhengjun handed the glass bottle with the straw inserted to Su Yueya.

Why did you buy it for me?

Su Yueya took the soda, took a sip, and found it sweet; her heart felt even sweeter.

“This orange soda is for girls. What kind of grown man would drink soda?” Lu Zhengjun explained.

Among the many people who came to watch the movie, only girls and children were holding sodas; I didn't see a single man holding a bottle of soda.

Su Yueya nodded as if she understood, thinking that the man was probably just embarrassed, but the soda was really delicious.

"Honey, I'll sneak you a sip."

As she spoke, Su Yueya quickly held the soda bottle to Lu Zhengjun's lips, urging him to drink.

"Honey, take a sip."

Lu Zhengjun wanted to refuse, but Su Yueya's big, watery eyes were full of expectation as she looked at him, as if she wouldn't take her hand back until he drank. So he had no choice but to bite the straw and take a small sip.

"Is it delicious?!" Su Yueya asked happily.

Lu Zhengjun nodded, a suspicious blush appearing behind her ears as she stared blankly at the straw opening.

The straw he just bit was the one Su Yueya had bitten first.

Let's go.

Su Yueya took Lu Zhengjun's arm again and followed the crowd into the screening room.

Today's screening is an imported comedy film. Its vibrant colors and witty dialogue drew bursts of laughter from the audience in the theater.

Su Yueya found it extremely interesting when she saw it for the first time. She laughed so hard she almost fell over, and kept pulling Lu Zhengjun to tell him how funny the scene was.

The theater was dimly lit, but her smile was bright.

Lu Zhengjun gazed at the large screen, but was frequently distracted by Su Yueya beside her, always managing to steal glances at her.

"Haha! Honey, look at him, he's hilarious!"

When the main character tumbled off a large horse, rolled forward a full circle, and all the surrounding props tumbled over with him, the audience burst into laughter again.

Su Yueya grabbed Lu Zhengjun's hand and excitedly pointed at the screen.

"Honey, he's so silly!"

Lu Zhengjun didn't find this act of feigning madness particularly amusing, but seeing Su Yueya's eyes crinkling with laughter—like her name, resembling two small crescent moons—a genuine smile appeared on his face as well.

After watching the movie, Su Yueya was still worried about Lu Zhengjun's back and insisted on going home.

"No, we're already out here, so we're definitely going to wander around outside."

Lu Zhengjun took Su Yueya's hand and prepared to stroll around the nearby streets to see if there was anything suitable he wanted to buy for her.

I happened to come across a small vendor with a stall displaying a wide variety of hair ties, hair clips, and other accessories for girls.

Lu Zhengjun was immediately drawn to a moon-shaped hair clip.

"You have excellent taste! This moon hair clip is one of a kind, exquisitely crafted, and reasonably priced. It's perfect for your beautiful girlfriend!" the vendor said sweetly as he promoted it.

Lu Zhengjun held the hair clip up and compared it to Su Yueya's hair to see how she looked with it on.

"She's not my girlfriend..." Su Yueya whispered in defense.

"ah?"

The vendor was surprised, staring at the two holding hands, his suspicious gaze sweeping over their faces.

Look at those hands covered in glue! They still say they're not dating? Who would believe that?!

“He is my husband,” Su Yueya explained softly.

Her tone carried a hint of shyness, as well as pride.

"Oh, so you're a young couple. I must have misspoke. Sir, your wife is so beautiful. I think not only this moon hair clip suits her, but I also have many other accessories here that would be perfect for her!"

With his silver tongue, the small vendor launched into a sales pitch.

Lu Zhengjun was pleased by what she said and said she would buy them all.

"This is too much, I can't use that much." Su Yueya tried to bring Lu Zhengjun back to his senses.

Although she was pleased by the small vendors' flattery, making money is not easy. Right now, only Lu Zhengjun in the family has an income, so she can't help him or hold him back.

"It will work!"

The vendor brought out all his best items and enthusiastically introduced them: "Wear this hair clip on Monday, use this tie on Tuesday, switch to this hair tie on Wednesday, and so on... Let's change our look every day, change our mood every day, isn't that great!"

Su Yueya, however, did not buy it.
