Two lumps of fragrant, soft, and tender white meat.
"How can you be so good!" Su Yueya pinched Da Bao's little feet, which were chubby and incredibly cute.
“Our little one is so chubby! Look, there are creases all over his wrists, haha!”
"Our Da Bao and Xiao Bao smell so good!"
Su Yueya dug out her previously idle phone and started using it again, this time mainly for taking pictures.
She takes photos of her two babies almost every day: their bare teeth showing when they smile, their eyes wide open as they look around curiously, their faces as they sleep contentedly after drinking milk, and their eyes crinkling with laughter when their uncle makes them laugh...
Su Yueya meticulously recorded the growth and changes of her various babies every day, capturing those moments that brought her immense happiness.
“Da Bao and Xiao Bao, come here and look at Mommy, smile!” Su Yueya said, pointing the camera at the two little ones who were “sparring”.
Da Bao seemed to understand, turned to look at Su Yueya, his mouth agape, drool dripping from his lips...
Xiao Bao was very focused on snatching the food from his older brother's mouth, completely ignoring his mother's reminders, and sticking his fingers into his brother's wide-open mouth.
"Haha!" Su Yueya was amused by this scene. After taking the photo, she admired it over and over again.
The thought of the two little ones growing up and never seeing them like they are now made Su Yueya feel a pang of regret. She even felt that the two little ones were growing up far too fast.
“Luckily, we have cell phones to record these moments. When your dad comes back, you two can watch them with him, okay?” Su Yueya said to the two little ones. This was one of the reasons why she insisted on using her cell phone to record these moments.
Only after becoming a parent did she truly realize how important and how happy it is to experience and witness a child's growth.
Lu Zhengjun had more important things to do, so he couldn't participate in her pregnancy or the birth of the child. By the time he returned, the child was already talking. How much regret must he have felt then?
Every day spent with my two children is incredibly fun.
Whether it's discovering any changes in them compared to yesterday, or the two little ones doing something strange and funny again, it's all incredibly fun.
Su Yueya could never get enough of looking at the two children; she wanted to hold them, pinch their fingers, and play with them every day.
The two little ones are very well-behaved and rarely cry, but if they accidentally cry from hunger or from being upset because their mother keeps holding the other one, then Su Yueya has to comfort them herself; no one else can do it.
"Wah—" Da Bao suddenly wailed, staring at his mother and Xiao Bao, who was being held by his mother, in his uncle's arms, and suddenly started crying.
"What's wrong, Da Bao?" Qiao Shouyan held Da Bao in his arms, shaking him back and forth.
When they were in the hospital, the maternity nurses taught them that babies like to be shaken when they are held, as it makes them feel comfortable.
So Qiao Shouyan thought that shaking him a few times would stop Da Bao from crying, but it was no use at all. No matter how much he shook him, the little guy was still crying very seriously, and it seemed like he couldn't stop.
"How about I try to comfort him?" Su Yueya asked worriedly, wanting to hand Xiaobao over to Qiao Xinruo and go hold him herself, but Qiao Xinruo volunteered instead.
"Sister, let me try!" Qiao Xinruo said.
“You can’t try it. Kids recognize people, so you have to coax them with your own hands,” said Liu Yuying, who had been through this before, as she took the baby from her.
"I don't believe it." Qiao Xinruo was very stubborn. "Don't my sister and I look exactly alike? I don't believe that Dabao can tell us apart now. He can recognize my older brother, but he definitely won't recognize me. It's the same if I try to coax him!"
As she spoke, Qiao Xinruo took Dabao from Qiao Shouyan's arms and began to comfort him.
"Dabao, don't cry, Mommy's here to hug you, don't cry." Qiao Xinruo even pretended to be Su Yueya, deliberately calling herself Mommy, thinking the little guy definitely wouldn't be able to tell the difference, however—
"Wah—" Da Bao's wailing became even louder.
Qiao Xinruo: "..."
The others couldn't help but laugh. Liu Yuying joked, "Well, you didn't believe me before, but now you do, right? Da Bao can tell people apart. He wants the crescent moon right now."
"Little one, are you being naughty? Why can't your auntie comfort you? Don't cry, or I'll throw you away." When gentle persuasion failed, Qiao Xinruo resorted to force and simply threatened the child.
"What are you saying? Don't scare the child. We won't listen to her, Da Bao. Auntie is mean, so ignore Auntie," Qiao Gaoyang said, quickly trying to coax her.
But Da Bao is more stubborn and persistent. He insists on being held by his mother. Since he can't speak yet, he can only use crying to attract the attention of adults and express all his needs.
"Wow--"
Su Yueya couldn't bear to see the child cry like that, so she stretched out her hands.
"Xinruo, let me comfort him first, lest he cry himself sick," Su Yueya said.
Qiao Xinruo is an adult, she can't possibly throw a tantrum just because she couldn't appease the child, can she?
"Here, here, here," Qiao Xinruo shoved Dabao into her sister's arms, pouting, "I don't believe it! Do you think letting my sister hold me will stop Dabao from crying—"
Before she could finish speaking, Da Bao, who had just nestled into his mother's arms, immediately stopped crying.
Qiao Xinruo: "...?"
Okay, that's really good!
"See, you really have to believe it!" Qiao Gaoyang was almost dying of laughter, and reached out to poke Qiao Xinruo's sour face.
It's so strange. Why are there two identical faces? They're even pretending to be the mother. Qiao Xinruo can't coax Dabao either. She really doesn't understand.
"Why?" Qiao Xinruo asked, feeling wronged.
Su Yueya didn't understand why either, but judging from the past times when her two children cried, it was true that as soon as she held them in her arms, the little ones would stop crying. This was one of the reasons why she thought the children were easy to take care of, because she didn't have to put in any effort to soothe them; just holding them was enough.
So, why is that?
Da Bao finally got his wish and was held by his mother. He kept rubbing his little face against his mother's chest. Su Yueya stared at the child's face up close and felt that she could even see that the little guy was secretly smiling. The corners of his mouth were curved!
Besides that, Da Bao's nostrils were twitching slightly, which meant...
Oh, and the smell!
Su Yueya immediately understood the key point.
“I understand now. Da Bao really can tell who is who. However, he doesn’t distinguish us by our faces or voices, but by our scent,” Su Yueya said. This also explains why the two little ones love to rub against her.
"Smell?" Qiao Xinru murmured.
That's quite possible; perhaps children have a more sensitive sense of smell than adults.
