Then, the scene changes.
It's still the same room.
But my mother-in-law is gone.
My husband has disappeared too.
A dim light enveloped the surroundings, casting everything in shadow.
Su Yueya saw herself desperately searching.
"husband?"
"Mother-in-law?"
Where did you go?
At first, she was searching normally, but then she started running faster and faster...
The surroundings turned into indistinct, blurry shadows.
The next moment, Su Yueya collapsed to the ground, surrounded by her luggage that had been thrown out.
Her former neighbors, with whom she had previously gotten along well, were all watching her and saying all sorts of hurtful and hurtful things.
"Su Yueya, your man doesn't want you anymore!"
"You don't know yet, do you? They ran away a long time ago, before dawn!"
"That mother and daughter are off enjoying their retirement, you might as well just die!"
"Hahaha... How pitiful, abandoned woman, you're an abandoned woman!"
Su Yueya felt helpless. She wanted to stand up, but none of her neighbors were willing to make way for her.
It was like a shrinking encirclement, layer upon layer, making it hard for her to breathe.
They wanted to force her to die.
"I'm not a discarded woman, I'm not!"
"Husband, mother-in-law, where are you?"
"I'm not, I'm not—"
In the middle of the night, Su Yueya waved her hands wildly and shouted something. Suddenly, she sat up abruptly from the bed.
"Whoosh—whoosh—"
At night, the heavy breathing sounds were so clear.
"Crescent moon?"
Lu Zhengjun was awakened by the reaction of the people around him, and he quickly sat up as well.
"Crescent Moon, what's wrong?"
Su Yueya acted as if she couldn't hear anything. She buried her head between her knees and clasped her hands tightly behind her head in a defensive posture.
"No, I'm not, they didn't abandon me, they didn't..."
Her words were mumbled and unclear; Lu Zhengjun couldn't understand what she was saying at all.
But he could tell that Su Yueya's condition was quite abnormal at the moment.
"Crescent Moon, did you have a nightmare?"
We can't let her continue like this.
Lu Zhengjun forcefully pulled Su Yueya's arm away, cupped her face in one hand, and made her look into his eyes.
"Crescent Moon, look at me, look at me."
"I am the ruler, and we are now at home, sleeping in the bedroom."
"That was just a nightmare. Don't be afraid. Nightmares are all fake. I'm here, so you don't need to be afraid."
Lu Zhengjun gently patted Su Yueya's back with his other hand, coaxing and comforting her.
However, Su Yueya wouldn't listen to any of it.
When she was forced to look up and meet Lu Zhengjun's gaze, tears instantly welled up in his eyes!
"husband!"
Su Yueya was trembling from crying, her whole body sobbing.
But she couldn't stop, wanting to tell her husband how terrible her nightmare had been.
"It's so scary, it's really scary."
“I saw you come to pick me and my mother-in-law up to join the military. We were having a happy meal as a family, and then you disappeared, and my mother-in-law disappeared too. I looked everywhere but couldn’t find you…”
"The landlord kicked me out, the villagers cursed at me, I felt like I was going to die..."
Su Yueya was heartbroken.
She tearfully recounted her dream to Lu Zhengjun.
Because the people in her dream didn't have faces, but she knew who was who.
Therefore, she subconsciously assumed that the "husband" was Lu Zhengjun, who was standing in front of her.
Although Su Yueya's words were incoherent and hurried, Lu Zhengjun still managed to understand what she was saying from her fragmented sentences.
She did have a nightmare.
But it wasn't just a dream; it was a truly tragic past that happened to Su Yueya.
Lu Zhengjun was alarmed.
What does this dream represent?
Will Su Yueya realize that everything is real and thus regain her memories?
How should he comfort Su Yueya?
Before he could come up with a solution, Su Yueya, having finished confiding her story, seemed to have finally calmed down a bit.
"husband?"
Su Yueya gazed at Lu Zhengjun's face through teary eyes.
How silly of her, how could she be so frightened by a random dream?
Her husband clearly brought her to the capital to be with him while he was away at work. Isn't he sleeping right next to her now?
What could be more real than the warmth you can feel with your own hands?
"husband!"
Su Yueya suddenly threw herself into Lu Zhengjun's arms, tightly hugging his strong waist.
A voice inside me told her to hold me tighter.
So Su Yueya snuggled closer to Lu Zhengjun, almost inseparable.
"Honey! I'm so stupid!"
"Why would I have such a strange dream?"
"How could you possibly leave me behind? You've already brought me all the way to the capital, and we're already married."
With each sentence she spoke, Su Yueya felt she should be even more grounded.
But strangely enough, she couldn't control the empty feeling in her heart.
Even though she held Lu Zhengjun tightly, the warmth emanating from him and the strong, powerful beat of his heart could not shake off the panic and intense fear in her dream.
Why is this happening?
Su Yueya closed her eyes and told herself to stop overthinking.
"husband……"
She called out to Lu Zhengjun repeatedly without saying anything, as if just to confirm his presence.
"Yes, I'm here."
Lu Zhengjun hugged Su Yueya back, patiently responding to her calls again and again.
"husband……"
"I am here."
Even if Su Yueya didn't say anything, she just kept calling his name.
