Chapter 13, Chapter 13: "None of them..."
"Neither..." the little capybara said weakly.
"What's there to be afraid of?"
Yeah, what's there to be afraid of?
Pei Xi was speechless.
Actually, she didn't know what she was afraid of. It was clearly after get off work, and her husband was coming to pick her up.
It's not like my lover is coming to pick me up...
He couldn't explain what he was afraid of, so he decided to explain something else first.
"I haven't gone on any more blind dates. That phone call from my aunt last time... was a misunderstanding."
Afterwards, his aunt did indeed return the contact information of several boys to him, but the little capybara refused them all with righteous indignation.
Although he still doesn't know how to tell his third aunt about his marriage, he can no longer go on blind dates with other people.
"Oh, it's fine if you go." The man's tone was indifferent.
That's incredibly generous.
A big question mark appeared above the little capybara's head: "Huh?"
"But I can't remarry." The man said quietly, stepping on the brake, starting the engine, and gripping the steering wheel tightly.
She has the composure of an empress.
Pei Xi thought...that made a lot of sense.
No wonder the man was so calm before.
However, my thoughts drifted to a very bad idea.
Although I wouldn't do that, I can't help but think about it.
Does that mean that in the future, if he holds hands and hugs someone else, the appendectomist won't care, as long as the marriage certificate is still valid?
If I were that kind of person, wouldn't that be amazing?
"I heard from a colleague that a new hot spring resort has opened nearby. Are you interested?" The man asked, his long, slender hand resting lightly on the steering wheel.
Pulling the young man's wandering thoughts back to reality: "Hot springs?"
Guan Yue: "Mm."
Pei Qi loves being with water. He enjoys swimming in the summer and soaking in hot springs in the winter. One summer during his university years, he even learned to scuba dive.
Although it is summer now, after several days of rain, the temperature is not high, which is also suitable for soaking in hot springs.
"Sure, is it close?"
Guan Yue: "It's about a two-hour drive. The facilities are pretty good, and they have a specialty mushroom hot pot. Want to go?"
"We'll have to drive back later, won't Dr. Guan feel a little tired?" Pei Qi pondered. "Although I have a driver's license, I haven't driven much."
Sometimes he felt that his hands were quite magical; he could glue together such tiny scraps of paper and restore them, but he couldn't control such a large steering wheel.
Guan Yue: "You can stay one night and come back. Why don't you rest tomorrow?"
"Is Dr. Guan also taking a break?" He rarely saw a man taking a two-day weekend.
“Hmm,” the man replied. “Then stay at the resort for one night. I saw that there’s a special opening offer: a double room plus hot spring access is only 800.”
"So cheap?" The little capybara's eyes lit up. Not only was it cheap, but it was also exactly 800. "Hmm, are there only double rooms?"
"That's all I see. I'll ask about it when I get there." The man turned his car onto the elevated highway.
Pei Xi: "Should we go home and get something?"
Guan Yue: "I've already brought my toiletries and a change of clothes, and so have yours."
The young man in the passenger seat couldn't help but widen his eyes slightly.
"I thought you'd enjoy soaking in hot springs, so I brought the things beforehand to save time," the man added unhurriedly.
The young man asked, somewhat puzzled, "How did Dr. Guan know I would like it?"
"Just a guess."
How could a capybara not love playing in the water?
Pei Xi didn't think much of it and smiled, "You guessed pretty accurately, haha."
The man beside him kept his gaze fixed on the windshield, but his peripheral vision was drawn to the young man's dimples.
Friday, another evening rush hour, I lingered on the elevated highway for a long time.
Pei Qi was the type to fall asleep as soon as he got into the car. He leaned back in the comfortable, odorless leather seat and slept all the way to the gate of the mountain villa.
The villa, nestled halfway up the mountain, is decorated in a purely Chinese style. To enter the villa, one must climb a cobblestone staircase several dozen meters long.
It was already past seven o'clock at night, and dusk was approaching. The streetlights along the stone steps were not very bright, and the distance between each streetlight was quite long, so the light was not sufficient.
Pei Xi suffers from night blindness, and this mountain path with its stone steps is practically hellish.
After groping his way up the fifth stone step, the young man was completely lost.
Guan Yue carried his luggage bag and walked ahead with light steps, but the little tail behind him remained silent for a long time.
The man turned around.
The little capybara stood blankly on the stone steps. From this angle, he could see the whorl of hair on the young man's head and the slightly brownish strands of hair under the dim streetlights.
"Teacher Pei, are you looking down and studying how to repair the cracks in the stone?" Guan Yue raised an eyebrow.
Pei Xi could actually hear the sarcasm in the appendectomist's tone, but she still said seriously, "I haven't done much stone work, but I can give it a try."
My brain, which had just begun to awaken, suddenly realized why I hadn't used my phone for light.
So he started turning his pockets inside out.
"You want to perform a live restoration for me?" The man's eyebrows arched even higher.
"Hmm, maybe next time." The young man finally pulled out his phone, and as he turned on the flashlight, he said, "It's too dark here."
My vision was finally filled with bright light, and I couldn't help but exclaim that the mobile phone is truly the greatest invention of the 21st century!
The man's teasing tone faded, and he asked, "Can't you see?"
The capybara nodded, pointed the flashlight at the stone steps, and followed step by step: "Yes, I have a bit of night blindness, so I can see clearly by shining this light."
The world brightened, and the youth's tone became lighter, along with his steps.
He quickly caught up with Guan Yue ahead.
"Is it heavy? Do you want me to carry one?" Bright eyes scanned the two duffel bags on the man's shoulder.
Guan Yue turned his gaze to the side, his eyes landing squarely on the young man's clear, round eyes.
The appendectomist's eyes usually have a sharp edge, but this time, they were completely devoid of any sharpness.
Even the little capybara dared to raise its eyes to meet their gaze.
"W-what's wrong?" Although she dared to make eye contact, the little capybara still couldn't stand being stared at by those ridiculously beautiful eyes for too long.
So he asked, his ears burning with desire.
Suddenly, the man opened his large palm and offered it to the young man: "Hand."
The little capybara was puzzled, but still obediently stretched out its hand.
Her fingertips touched the man's knuckles and palm.
It attracted a temperature as hot as the man's gaze.
The fingers are held and enveloped by the palm.
If there were instruments to observe, Pei Xi thought that his fingers should now be covered with Dr. Guan's palm prints.
While he was thinking about the palm print, he was also wondering about the reason for Dr. Guan's sudden action, and asked bluntly, "Did you suddenly want to hold my hand?"
"I'm afraid you'll fall and die." The man's grip on his hand didn't loosen. "People say I'm a jinx to husbands."
"Besides, I won't suddenly have the thought of wanting to hold your hand."
He's too naive; all he ever thinks about is having a sudden urge to sleep with Pei Xi.
