Chapter 101 The Two's Past (Part 3)

The two got out of the car, and Jiang Wanning looked around.

Something seemed to flash through her mind.

"We met here? If we met here, according to the driver, the village was almost entirely full of bad people at that time, how could I have left here safely?"

Fu Chenyuan led her forward, and finally stopped in front of an abandoned house.

Although the village has undergone a major transformation, it's still clear that the conditions aren't very good.

Along the way, there are many abandoned houses, and many people have left from here.

Fu Chenyuan stopped: "We didn't meet here. I just wanted to show you the place I used to be."

As far back as Fu Chenyuan can remember, he was kept on a leash like a dog.

At first, he was young, and he was tied up with a rope.

Later, when he grew older and was able to rebel, he was chained up with two iron chains.

He had the hardest bones; there was no way he would submit to that beast.

That beast had a very deep scar on his left cheek. He didn't call him Dad; he called him Scarface.

He was a little over eight years old that year.

Scarface was notorious, and their house was at the foot of the mountain, relatively remote, so no one came here.

Xiao Chenyuan doesn't know how to talk to people. In fact, he doesn't speak at all and just looks at people with his eyes.

His activity area was limited to that courtyard.

He was chained and walked around, unable to even reach the courtyard gate.

At first, he asked the villagers for help, but everyone looked at him with such indifference.

The boy's eyes were filled with resentment; he refused to yield.

But if you don't yield, you'll be beaten.

Scarface didn't just raise one child; he had two others.

The other two, one missing a hand and the other missing a leg, were both cruelly severed by Scarface.

Scarface sent them begging, without breaking his arms and legs, simply because he knew Scarface was the most agile and that Scarface had more important things to do: stealing.

If he doesn't comply, he will be beaten.

To survive, he stayed with his two other children.

The two children were begging, so he went to steal.

He doesn't steal from the elderly, the weak, women, or children; he doesn't steal from those who are poor; and he doesn't steal from those who urgently need money.

You can't steal much of value in a day.

He was young, and people didn't guard against him, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Scarface would beat him every time he came back.

He tried to escape, but he was always being watched.

Every time he tried to escape, he was beaten. Once, he even developed a high fever that lasted for five days before it subsided. He didn't die from the fever, but he also didn't have any good fortune afterward.

He thought that if he died like this, he would be free.

But where are Mom and Dad? Will Mom and Dad look for him?

He's dead. Will they never find him again?

Later, he stole from a man who looked wealthy. When the man discovered his wallet had been stolen, he chased him into an alley and beat him mercilessly, as if he wanted to kill him.

Finally, a clear voice rang out, filled with anxiety and a sob: "Stop hitting me! Uncle, if you hit me again I'll call the police! My mom and dad are here, I'm going to call for help!"

The man vented his anger, and seeing that someone had seen it—a very young baby—he raised his hand to hit her, but seeing the little girl's clothes and appearance, he ultimately didn't do it and walked away.

The boy was beaten so badly he could barely get up.

A small, white hand reached out: "Brother, why did he hit you? Brother, does it hurt? I'll give you candy."

She had a seven-colored windmill candy shaped like a flower in her hand, still wrapped up, and it looked like she was very reluctant to part with it.

The boy looked up. The little girl was exquisitely beautiful, like a fairy, with a pair of big, bright eyes that blinked and were filled with tears.

Why are you crying? She wasn't the one who got hit!

He looked up, and there was blood at the corner of his mouth.

A pair of cold eyes.

The little girl seemed startled by his gaze, but she still bravely unwrapped the candy and held it to his lips.

He instinctively opened his mouth and licked it; it was very sweet.

These are luxuries; there's no way Scar would give them to him.

Scarface squandered all the money he got, leaving them nothing.

The little girl seemed a bit reluctant to part with it, but when she saw him lick it, she smiled brightly and put the candy in his hand.

"Brother, don't be afraid. You'll grow up, things will be alright when you grow up."

The person watching him from afar looked over, and when he saw the little girl, a greedy look appeared on his face.

The boy understood better than anyone what that look meant.

Their small county town wasn't considered wealthy, and even a young man like him could see that the girl's clothes and demeanor were completely out of place in this small county town.

She looks like a rich girl.

Scarface had said more than once that if he could meet a rich man's son, he would pull off a big heist, collect a huge ransom, and live a life of luxury.

The man gave a signal, and another accomplice quickly ran towards them.

The boy spoke for the first time, as if he didn't know how to speak well. His voice was a little hoarse, and he spoke each word with difficulty: "Where are your family? Go find your family quickly."

She shook her head blankly: "Mom told me to wait for her here, but I waited for a long, long time. Mom didn't come. It's been a long, long time."

She is young and has little concept of time.

Therefore, what she meant by "a very long time" must have been a very, very long time for her.

The boy's heart sank. Without thinking, he grabbed her hand and said, "Come with me."

He pulled her along, but she didn't run very fast. She had a smile on her face and seemed very happy. Her laughter echoed all the way, clear and crisp like bells.

"Brother, will you play with me? Brother, can I still play with you in the future? Brother, I have money on me, take it all, please play with me, okay?"

He gritted his teeth and remained silent, listening to the footsteps of the two people behind him getting closer and closer. She was completely unaware of the approaching danger and continued to laugh happily.

She fell, her knee bleeding, and tears welled up in her eyes from the pain, but she comforted him first: "Brother, it doesn't hurt. Brother, don't be afraid."

There was no time to lose. The boy rushed forward, grabbed the girl, and dragged her into a store. He knocked over a large LCD TV, damaging it. He then let go of the girl's hand and ran out.

He didn't stay; there was no point in staying.

He was so dirty and thin. He had asked for help before, but Scarface took him back.

They dared not take the little girl with them, nor could they take her away.

Sure enough, the shop assistant grabbed the girl and wouldn't let her leave: "Are you all in cahoots? The TV is broken, you have to pay for it, you're not allowed to leave."

"Brother, brother..." she cried, watching the boy disappear.
