Chapter 169 The Boy

Meng Tian was extremely anxious, wishing he could just grab the woman by the neck and demand, "Where's the child?"

But he knew he couldn't rush it.

Whether the child is his and Xu Ying's, and whether it is safe, are all unknown.

The forlorn expression on Meng Tian's face seemed to have faded considerably, replaced by a hint of curiosity. He followed up on Yu Man's words, saying, "Oh, what surprise? Someone like me, is there anything to be surprised about? I've known A Ying for over twenty years, but she always says I'm not good enough for her. What is there to expect from someone like me?"

"You can't think like that. How about I show you a picture?"

Meng Tian nodded: "Okay."

Yu Man pulled up a photo of the child: "Look, my child has grown up. Didn't you hold him before? You like this child, don't you?"

Looking at the eyebrows and eyes that resembled Xu Ying's, Meng Tian felt his heart clench violently for a moment.

"Yes, I felt an instant connection with this child. Actually, I've always remembered you. Before I went abroad, I met you all at a kindergarten. This child was quite small then, wasn't he? I never imagined he'd grow up so much."

"Yes. He's grown up now. I actually wanted to tell you back then that we go to the same school, but I was afraid it would be too presumptuous, so I didn't say anything. Senior Meng, have you really given up on Senior Xu?"

She called him Senior Meng, with a hint of ambiguity, as if she had returned to her youth.

Her youth was gloomy, filled with resentment as she watched Meng Tian and Xu Ying being so sweet and loving.

Watching Meng Tian awkwardly try to please Xu Ying, he gave her his whole heart.

However, from now on, this man will belong to her.

Yu Man's heart was pounding.

Upon hearing Xu Ying's name, Meng Tian's expression seemed to darken.

"Yes, I will never go back. I've given her up forever. I finally understand that these past ten years have been a joke. I went back every year to beg for her forgiveness. I did nothing wrong, so why should I ask for her forgiveness?"

"Exactly. Senior Xu doesn't know how to cherish you, but I will."

Meng Tian seemed a little tired.

"Shall I take you home? Are you going back now? By the way, is that child on holiday too? Maybe bring him out to play next time." He was such a gentleman, his smile was even gentle.

Yu Man was about to agree, but then she thought of something, and her expression changed unpredictably.

“He’s been sick lately. I’ll take him out to play when he gets better. I’ll go home by myself; I live nearby, so I don’t need to take him.”

"Alright." Meng Tian didn't press the matter further.

Meng Tian left, and Yu Man also came out and hailed a car.

She was very careful; she got off the bus a kilometer early, looked around, and then hurriedly ran to another place.

That place is a notorious slum in the city.

Before going in, Yu Man took a piece of clothing from her bag and wrapped herself up tightly before entering.

She went into the basement, opened the door, touched the child's forehead, and found that he had a fever. She cursed under her breath.

Yu Man gave the boy medicine, and the boy became delirious with fever, calling out for his mother.

Fortunately, the boy had a strong immune system and recovered quickly.

Yu Man had no idea that from the moment she appeared, her every move was being monitored.

The next day, when the boy woke up, he found Yu Man making breakfast and humming a song, looking like she was in a good mood.

At this moment, Yu Man radiated maternal warmth.

The boy stared blankly; this kind of mother meant he wouldn't be beaten anymore.

Sometimes Yu Man would hit him, but not much, and he was very grateful.

It's good that he occasionally hits his mother.

He stood up, and the chains on his feet had been loosened.

The boy bumped into something and made a sound as he walked. Like a frightened bird, he immediately looked at Yu Man in fear, expecting a scolding or beating.

Unexpectedly, Yu Man just chuckled lightly, seemingly in a very good mood: "Baby, you're awake? I touched your forehead, so your fever seems to be gone. I made breakfast, come and eat, are you hungry?"

"Mom, did you make some money?"

“You don’t need to worry about the money. It’s because your father will be taking you back soon. Do you remember? I told you before that the great painter Meng Tian is your father. He’s held more than thirty exhibitions abroad; he’s very talented. Now, your father has finally come to his senses and will soon be taking you and me home. Are you happy?”

Yu Man took out her phone and showed Meng Tian's photo: "This is your father."

The boy felt a mixture of resentment and anticipation towards Meng Tian.

The resentment stemmed from the fact that he had abandoned them, leaving him and his mother homeless and suffering for over a decade.

Yu Man had been instilling this idea in him since he was a teenager and could remember.

Meng Tian and she were once in love, and later she became pregnant and decided to give birth to the child. But Meng Tian did not acknowledge them.

Meng Tian was deceived by the women outside.

“I met your dad yesterday. You can go to school normally from now on. Your dad said he will stay, and the three of us will live happily together. Baby, are you looking forward to it?”

He had no expectations whatsoever; he hated him.

"I...I'm looking forward to it," the boy said, though he didn't mean it.

"Your foot is scraped. I'll take you to the hospital to get it checked out in a bit. Baby, eat more. Once you've gained some weight, I'll take you to see your daddy." Yu Man was very happy.

After breakfast, Yu Man took the boy to the hospital to see about his foot injury. When asked how he got hurt, the boy lowered his eyes and said, "I was trying to get some water and I accidentally hurt myself."

Yu Man went to get the medicine, and the boy sat there.

Suddenly, someone bumped into him.
