Chapter 27 "Good boy/girl".
Ji Chengnin was so shocked by this absurd statement that he almost jumped up. "Of course not..."
Before he could even utter the word "good," Cui Yao, who had been quietly watching him, suddenly raised his hand.
Ji Chengnin didn't even see his movements clearly. He only felt a chill on the back of his neck, and his vision went black instantly. His body leaned forward uncontrollably.
Cui Yao hugged him tightly.
Ji Chengnin's body was burning hot, as if he were embracing a raging fire.
Cui Yao suddenly felt like a moth, so she also raised her lips.
The person in his arms had absolutely no connection to the words "warm and soft jade." Ji Chengning was not yet twenty years old, and his figure still had the slenderness unique to young people growing up. Although his frame was gradually approaching the height of an adult man, when you picked him up, his waist was still narrow and flexible.
Through the clothes, Cui Yao's five fingers dug deeply into the flesh of Ji Chengning's waist.
Yet there was no hint of disrespect or profanity.
He just thought Ji Chengnin's obedient appearance was very nice, and just looking at him made him unable to help but smile.
“Go and call Zhe Luo here, and tell him,” Cui Yao’s eyes curved into a smile, her tone so gentle it was almost dripping with tenderness, yet it did not inspire any sense of closeness, only a chilling fear in those who looked upon her, “that the patient has been drugged with aphrodisiacs.”
In the shadows, the subordinate replied respectfully, "Yes."
After speaking, Cui Yao reached into Ji Chengning's knees, gently lifted him up, and strode into the bedroom.
If Ji Chengning were awake at this moment, he would definitely cry out that he had been deceived. Cui Yao had pretended to be weak and helpless in front of him, unable to even lift a musket weighing more than ten kilograms, but now she was holding a tall man without batting an eye, as easily as if she were picking up a cat.
Because few people live there, the bedroom, though clean, is extremely cold and desolate.
Cui Yao gently placed Ji Chengning on the bed.
The brocade quilt was a light color, something Cui Yao had never paid attention to before. However, when Ji Chengning lay on it, he suddenly felt that the color was lifeless and did not match him.
The more flamboyant and luxurious the clothes Ji Chengning wore, the more his features became strikingly beautiful. Cui Yao reached out and gently wiped his face with the back of her hand.
It's so hot.
Seemingly because his hand was cold, Ji Chengnin choked up with a muffled sob.
Instead of understanding her intentions and stopping, Cui Yao intensified her efforts, her hand sliding down the slope.
Straight bones that never bend.
Rugged, distinct, and hard.
The more excited Cui Yao rubbed his thumb ring, the more one wanted to break every bone in his body, inch by inch.
Cui Yao frowned as her fingers brushed against Ji Chengning's boot buckle, feeling its coolness. She then realized that the young marquis hadn't even taken off his boots yet.
Cui Yao paused for a moment, then abruptly withdrew her hand.
Although he liked the young master Ji's bone structure, he was not so low as to serve Ji Chengning by taking off his boots and changing his clothes.
Two quarters of an hour later, Zheluo pushed open the door.
Upon entering, he asked, "Who was so bold as to drug you? If this person is still alive, I would like to meet them..." He paused abruptly.
The entire bedroom was completely silent, except for the crisp, precarious sound of a boot buckle being ripped open in an awkward manner.
Zheluo stared wide-eyed in horror.
If he wasn't blind, then the person kneeling by the bed, struggling with a bootlace buckle and finally tearing it off expressionlessly, was—Cui Yao?!
What is that thing lying on the bed? Is it some kind of immortal descended to earth?
Zheluo suspected that he had gone blind from staying up all night reading medical books, and dared not confirm that this person was Cui Yao, so he couldn't help but rub his eyes.
It's Cui Yao.
Zheluo rubbed her eyes again, so hard that she almost pierced her eyelids.
He felt pain and went to see it again.
Cui Yao stared at him expressionlessly.
Zheluo shuddered.
It is undoubtedly Cui Yao.
Zhaluo, being extremely pragmatic, said, "I didn't see anything."
Cui Yao asked calmly, "What?"
Practice makes perfect. With the experience she had just gained, Cui Yao smoothly tore off the lace of Ji Chengnin's other boot and took the shoe off.
Zhaluo was terrified.
He saw Cui Yao serving people. With such a broad mind, surely he wouldn't let him leave alive?
What are you waiting for?
Zhelu swallowed hard, quickly stepped forward, and bowed to take Ji Chengning's pulse.
He didn't recognize Ji Chengnin, and suddenly, when they were only half a step apart, he couldn't help but sigh in his heart, "What a handsome and charming young man!"
However, given Cui Yao's actions just now, although he was curious about Ji Chengnin's identity, he didn't dare to look at her too much. He could only hear the sound of running water. He glanced at Cui Yao out of the corner of his eye. Cui Yao seemed to dislike the person on the bed and was washing her hands, her movements were extremely careful and meticulous.
Zheluo: "..."
If Cui Yao disliked it, then he didn't need to personally take off the man's boots. Were all the servants outside broken-handed? If he didn't dislike it, then why was he acting this way?
Cui Yao raised her eyes indifferently.
Zheluo abruptly shifted her gaze, focusing intently on diagnosing Ji Chengning's illness.
The pulse was rapid and taut like a bowstring, with sudden drops. Zheluo pondered and said, "Young master has been poisoned. Although the medicine is potent, it is not deep. Please rest assured, young master. I will immediately prescribe a medicine to calm the mind and relieve dryness. The high fever will subside soon after the medicine is taken."
Cui Yao nodded. "Is this poison harmful to the human body?"
Zheluo cautiously replied, "This is an aphrodisiac in brothels. It doesn't cause much harm, but its effects are quite strong and may damage your kidney energy."
Before he could finish speaking, he felt a murderous intent coming straight at him.
Zhelu hurriedly said, "Young master, I'll go get the medicine for the young master."
Cui Yao nodded slowly.
His gaze was cold and deep.
Using such despicable and filthy means to win people's hearts is truly... despicable!
He sat down on the edge of the bed.
Ji Chengning seemed to sense the chill emanating from him. Just moments ago, she had been avoiding him as if she had seen a ghost, but now she was whimpering and snuggling into his arms.
Cui Yao's expression softened slightly.
A cold hand touched Ji Chengnin's cheek, and the latter pressed against it affectionately. He leaned down, knowing that Ji Chengnin couldn't hear him, but still gently comforted him, "Don't worry, it'll be over soon."
Ji Chengning rubbed his cheek against his fingertips.
"Good girl." Cui Yao murmured.
Their breaths mingled and intertwined, indistinguishable from one another.
Before long, Zheluo brought over the decocted medicine.
Ji Chengning was supposed to drink the medicine himself, but the young marquis was asleep, so Cui Yao had no choice but to do it for him.
He put his arm around Ji Chengning, supporting Ji Chengning's waist. The skin under his palm was not exactly soft, but it was very resilient, the feel of muscles that had been relaxed through long-term training.
Using this position, he encircled Ji Chengnin in his arms, letting the latter's head rest in the crook of his neck.
Limbs overlapping.
The person in a deep sleep was obedient and docile, not to mention resisting, he wouldn't even struggle. Cui Yao held him as if he were holding a delicate doll.
With his other hand, he used a spoon to scoop some of the medicine from the bowl, first touching his lips with it to confirm the temperature was just right, before bringing it to Ji Chengnin's lips.
The wet stain he left was right next to Ji Chengnin's lips.
The jade spoon forcefully pried open the young marquis's soft lips and fed him the medicine.
Ji Chengning was half asleep and could only open his mouth, swallowing the food Cui Yao gave him, bite by bite.
Unable to object or resist, this behavior greatly satisfied Cui Yao's desire for control.
Cui Yao's heart pounded even harder.
As Ji Chengning's body radiated heat continuously, Cui Yao was suddenly startled to realize that she herself had somehow acquired a bit of human warmth.
After the bowl of medicine was finished, Cui Yao's hair was a little damp.
Cui Yao's ink-black hair and Ji Chengning's long hair had already become entangled due to Cui Yao's movements.
Cui Yao stared at it for a moment, then reached out and wrapped the strands of hair she was holding even more tightly together.
He was even more satisfied, murmuring softly, "If only you could stay like this forever..."
That would be perfect.
His voice was erratic; the annoying voice-changing lock had long been removed, so his voice, which usually sounded only slightly low, was now unusually deep and soft, drifting aimlessly, like an irrational, morbid murmur.
After feeding Ji Chengning a bowl of medicine, Cui Yao did not let go of him, but instead hugged him even tighter.
Ji Chengning felt uncomfortable from being strangled, but Cui Yao's body temperature made him feel comfortable. He subconsciously reached out, but only managed to extend halfway before gently placing his hand on Cui Yao's chest.
I don't know whether to push or to let the other person get closer.
He slept very restlessly.
Ji Chengning had a nightmare.
In his dream, he was entangled by a python. The python's powerful muscles slowly tightened, and its cold scales clung tightly to his skin, leaving marks on his body.
He was already struggling, but then spider webs started to pounce on his face.
He couldn't brush away the spider silk, and could only endure the fine web occasionally brushing against his neck.
The more you resist, the tighter the snake coils around you.
Ji Chengning remembered that he had a knife in his sleeve pocket, so he reached out and tried his best to reach for it, and finally he managed to grab the scabbard.
He clenched his fingers, as if to draw his sword.
But it wouldn't budge.
Cui Yao let out a muffled groan.
...
The medicine was so potent that Ji Chengnin slept until noon the next day before finally waking up.
He woke up feeling numb all over.
A tall, slender figure sat on the edge of the bed. Before Ji Chengning could even see clearly, he said, "Cousin."
His voice was frighteningly hoarse.
Cui Yao turned her head.
When their eyes met, Ji Chengning was the first to be at a loss for words.
After all, yesterday was just too embarrassing!
As reason gradually returned, the young marquis wished he could dig a hole and bury himself. He awkwardly looked away, avoiding eye contact with Cui Yao.
Looking down, I saw that Cousin Cui was wearing a plain white robe today, her hair was tied in a bun, and apart from a jade hairpin inserted in the bun at the back of her head, she had no other adornments, and her appearance was so plain that it was cold.
Ji Chengnin glanced at it.
Even though the occasion was inappropriate, Ji Chengnin still had to admit that he was very fond of Cui Yao's pure, aloof, and unattainable appearance.
I couldn't resist taking another look.
Cui Yao looked down and their eyes met.
Ji Chengning was startled, feeling a tingling sensation on his scalp as if it had been scratched. "I had a nightmare," he said, extending his little finger to gently hook the sleeve of Cui Yao's dress, which was embroidered with lotus branches. He said pitifully, "I dreamt that my cousin turned into a big, burly man."
Cui Yao smiled slightly as he feigned ignorance, "Your Highness, you're not dreaming."
"It is true that I dressed as a man to pick up the prince."
Cui Yao continued calmly, "It is true that the Crown Prince was plotted against and poisoned."
Ji Chengnin experienced for the first time what it meant to be on pins and needles. He resignedly lay down, pulled the blanket over his face, and whispered, "Yesterday's events were due to my carelessness..."
"Click!"
A cup of tea was slammed onto the table, and Ji Chengnin's words stopped abruptly.
Cui Yao continued to smile, but there was no hint of amusement in her eyes. "Not at all, the young master is extremely cautious and meticulous, and his plans are flawless."
What would Ji Chengning do if he didn't come?
Should one resist with all one's might, or go with the flow and accept it with utmost gentleness and consideration, just to find a way out?
Ji Chengning touched his nose.
After all, it was indeed his rash decision that led to this, and he had no way to defend himself.
Seeing that he remained silent, Cui Yao took it as a tacit agreement and his expression darkened slightly. He then changed the subject, "If something had happened between me and the Crown Prince last night, what would the Crown Prince have done?"
Ji Chengnin was taken aback.
He immediately pointed to the sky and the ground and said, "There is absolutely no such possibility!"
Although the drug was potent, it wasn't enough to make him lose all his senses. Moreover, if the situation became too critical, he would cut his own arm before the effects took hold.
He may not be a gentleman, but he is definitely not a beast.
But he didn't expect that this denial, which left no room for negotiation, would be interpreted in a different way by Cui Yao—that the young marquis had no desire for him whatsoever, and that even if he were poisoned, he was not even worthy of being the antidote.
The sharp teeth pierced deep into the lips, and the taste of blood quickly spread in the mouth.
Cui Yao showed no sign of pain, instead revealing an exceptionally gentle smile, "What if it really is?"
If he had taken advantage of someone in distress last night...
This idea was immediately rejected by Cui Yao.
He knew perfectly well that it was impossible, but it wasn't that he trusted the young marquis's resolve; rather, he had no interest in Ji Chengning and would never lay a finger on him.
The current aggressive questioning is nothing more than a way to kill time when one is bored.
Cui Yao stared intently at Ji Chengning.
He knew without even having to guess what Ji Chengnin would say.
It's nothing more than using sweet words to deceive me, saying that if that's the case, I will definitely take responsibility for my cousin and marry her.
But Ji Chengnin remained silent.
He stared intently at Cui Yao for a moment, then struggled to his feet like an old man in his eighties.
Cui Yao stared coldly for a few seconds, then reached out to help Ji Chengning.
Ji Chengning smiled at him, his expression somewhat ingratiating.
Cui Yao remained unmoved, her heart as hard as stone, and simply supported Ji Chengning with a blank expression.
The young marquis's gaze swept around the room, and his eyes suddenly lit up when they landed on something.
He picked up the musket that Cui Yao had taken off the day before and presented it to Cui Yao as if it were a treasure.
"Your Highness?"
Cui Yao frowned at the cold, heavy feel of the black iron.
Ji Chengning lowered his head and fiddled with Cui Yao's fingers, making him put his finger into the trigger.
His movements were extremely focused and serious, his thick, fan-shaped eyelashes gently pressed down, half-concealing his owner's clear, spring-like eyes, which were also full of affection.
Ji Chengning grabbed Cui Yao's gun-wielding hand and pressed it against his chest. He smiled and said softly, "Then, cousin, just kill me."
Cui Yao's breath suddenly caught in her throat.
