Chapter 6: Willful Mrs. Yue

Chapter 6: Willful Mrs. Yue

Mrs. Yue's willfulness is inseparable from her good luck in life.

When Mr. Yue was young, he was a peddler in a small town in the northwest. After he got married and had children, he happened to have good luck and became a wealthy and famous merchant in Beijing.

Mrs. Yue is his daughter.

She grew up happily in a wealthy village until she was sixteen years old. She fell in love with the master of the Qi family who was visiting her home at first sight and was determined to marry him.

Old Master Yue also liked this handsome young man, but he thought the Qi family was too far from the capital and their assets were far inferior to those of the Yue family. However, he could not resist his daughter's wishes, so he prepared a grand wedding and married his daughter to Guangling City.

Although the Qi family has been engaged in business for generations, the family is large and complex, with a strong trunk and weak branches. The side branches can only make ends meet, and only the eldest branch can be considered rich and respectable.

Dalang of the Qi family is the eldest son of the family. He has two younger brothers and a younger sister, all of whom are born out of wedlock and are not as smart and capable as he is.

Therefore, Mrs. Yue became the eldest daughter-in-law as soon as she entered the family. She had everything she wanted, rich and respectable, and everyone in the family looked up to her.

What's more, Madam Yue is a rich lady who married into the capital city!

Be it her parents-in-law, sisters-in-law or sister-in-law, none of them dared to provoke her in the slightest. Even her own husband was tolerant and did not dare to neglect her at all.

Merry, what a merry day this is!

…until her first child died.

The child was born with deficiencies in the womb. From the time he was one month old, he had to ask doctors to see a doctor and prescribe medicine. The money he spent was like water, and he could have bought a silver doll that was fatter than him.

Even so, the child died before he was one year old.

Mrs. Yue's smooth life was hit by a storm for the first time, and it was such a fatal blow.

She held the child in her arms and cried until all her tears dried up, but she couldn't cry him back to life.

Master Qi was also sad for a long time, until Madam Yue became pregnant and gave birth to his second son, Qi Chengzhou, which made him feel a little relieved.

But Madam Yue, there is no way I can be relieved at all!

The couple disliked each other and kept smashing cups and bowls and quarreling for a long time. It was not until a few years later when Qi Huaijing was born that Mrs. Yue felt that life had some meaning.

As the saying goes, the more a hedgehog looks at a child, the brighter it becomes; the more a weasel looks at a child, the more fragrant it becomes.

Qi Huaijing is not only Madam Yue’s biological son, but also the precious child that Madam Yue found again after she lost her first son.

Mrs. Yue looked at him with eyes shining.

Ever since the child was born, she has been like a living phoenix that fell from the sky in her eyes. She holds the child in her mouth for fear that it will melt, and holds it in her hands for fear that it will fall. She pampers and protects it in every possible way.

Seeing that she doted on the child excessively, Mr. Qi had some complaints, saying that boys should not be spoiled like this, as he was afraid that the boy would not become a useful person when he grew up.

Mrs. Yue only hopes that her son grows up safely, not whether he can become a useful person.

Because of this, Mrs. Yue had a big quarrel with Mr. Qi. In a rage, she took Qi Huaijing, who was less than two years old, to the capital and returned to her parents' home, where she lived for many years.

Later, Guangling City suffered from an epidemic. Master Qi and Aunt Zhou, who gave birth to a bastard, died one after another, leaving Qi Chengzhou, who had just become an adult, to support the family business alone.

There was only an aunt named Luo left in the Qi family's backyard, who brought her little sister Qi Youlan, who had just learned to walk, to help with household chores.

Qi Chengzhou was only sixteen or seventeen years old. Seeing that he was young, had a large family business, and was born out of wedlock, his two uncles could not help but take advantage of the situation and instigated everyone in the clan, clamoring for a redistribution of the family property.

Qi Chengzhou had just lost his parents, but he was still quite courageous as a young man. Seeing his uncles were so aggressive and wanted to swallow up the huge business that his father had worked so hard to build, how could he be willing to accept that!

He planned to avoid the eyes of his clansmen and went north to the capital overnight. He knelt at the gate of the Yue family, dressed in heavy mourning, hugged his father's spirit tablet, cried loudly, and begged his stepmother and younger brother to return home to manage the Qi family's business.

Old Master Yue was a man of great sense. He thought that his daughter and son-in-law had never divorced, and no matter how angry they were, Huaijing was still a child of the Qi family. Now that his son-in-law had passed away young, it was reasonable for both mother and daughter to go back.

Just like that, Mrs. Yue brought Qi Huaijing back to Guangling City once again.

On that day, Qi Chengzhou welcomed his stepmother and younger brother into his father's mourning hall. In front of all the relatives, he knelt in front of the spirit and swore to the heavens -

His stepmother is still alive and his younger brother is the elder one, so he will never fight with her. If he breaks this oath, he will not have a good end in this life.

He was a bastard's son, and so were his two uncles. Seeing that Qi Chengzhou had sworn a poisonous oath in front of the coffin, and with the support of the wealthy and powerful Yue family in the capital, they could no longer open their mouths to fight for the family property.

So, Mrs. Yue took over the Qi family again.

She had no parents-in-law to support her, and a legitimate son to support her. She no longer had her husband, with whom she had grown tired of, and her sisters-in-law had long since separated and lived separately, and her younger sister-in-law had also married into the Shen family.

Thanks to the help of his stepmother's family, Qi Chengzhou was able to successfully take over the Qi family business, marry and have a daughter, and was particularly respectful to her.

Mrs. Yue is happy again today.

Unexpectedly, Mrs. Yue soon encountered the second crisis in her life.

The older Qi Huaijing gets, the more rebellious he becomes.

Mrs. Yue was full of maternal love and was very open-hearted to him, so she was naturally a little nagging. She gave him many instructions and warnings about every detail, always wanting to arrange everything for him.

"Good boy, just listen to your mother on this matter!

"My son, I am doing this for your own good."

"Jing'er, you are the only one I can count on in my life!"

The boy Qi Huaijing, who became more and more rebellious as he grew older, responded with——

"Mind your own business!"

“Forget it!”

"Are you annoying?"

Mrs. Yue was so angry that her liver ached, but even after the pain subsided, she still ran to him and continued to nag him.

Qi Huaijing was really annoyed.

The more Madam Yue wanted to control everything about him, the more he wanted to go against her.

For example, he was friendly and talkative in front of outsiders, but as soon as he got home he became lazy and didn't want to talk, and he didn't show up in front of Mrs. Yue for ten days or half a month.

For example, as soon as he returned to the Qi family, he moved to Wutong Garden, which was the farthest away from Yujin Hall, and strictly forbade Madam Yue to step into the house.

For example, Mrs. Yue had long wanted him to marry her cousin from the Yue family, but she had been nagging him for years and he refused to give in. He even turned around and proposed marriage to the Shen family.

This is a big event in life!

Not only was Mrs. Yue so angry that she was bedridden, even his grandfather, Old Man Yue, who had raised him, was so furious that he didn't even attend his wedding banquet.

To this day, Madam Yue still doubts very much that he insisted on marrying Chen Tang just to spite her.

But she couldn't get rid of him.

Until the moment before the bride came to serve tea, Mrs. Yue was still feeling indignant.

"This evil creature is really here to collect debts! The girl from the Shen family is my cousin, and the girl from the Yue family is also my cousin. They are both equally beautiful. It doesn't matter who I marry! But he has to go against me! I don't know who he inherited this temper from..."

Nanny Sun was Madam Yue's maid who came with her as a dowry. People still remember how she cried in front of Grandpa Yue when she was young, and insisted on marrying the master of the Qi family.

I almost laughed out loud.
