Chapter 82 Biting the Corner of Mouth

Chapter 82 Biting the Corner of Mouth

This time when they went out, Chen Tang originally thought that the couple would stay at Yue's house for a while, just like he did in previous years.

But Qi Huaijing said that he was going to the capital only to run the shop and take her out for fun, and he would not go to the Yue family.

Chen Tang was very puzzled and leaned over the car window to ask him.

"Huai Jing, why don't we go to the Yue family? Grandfather is your closest relative, and we are the younger generation. Now that we have arrived in the capital, we should go and visit the old man."

Qi Huaijing didn't reply, and Chen Tang lowered his voice slightly, with a hint of mockery in his eyes.

"What's wrong? Are you afraid that I'll meet the little cousin you discussed marriage with?"

Before he could finish his words, the man on the horse suddenly turned down, lifted the curtain, and strode into the carriage.

Chen Tang hurriedly stepped back, but was still a step late.

"Ah, let's talk nicely. You can't... um."

When the corner of his mouth was nearly bitten, Shen Tang changed his words pitifully.

"I was wrong. My cousin has only discussed marriage with me in his life."

Qi Huaijing finally let go of his hand and gently rubbed his chin which had just been pinched red.

"That's more like it."

Although Chen Tang failed temporarily, he still persevered and asked him why he couldn't go to Yue's house.

Qi Huaijing always avoided the question.

In theory, he grew up under the care of his maternal grandfather, and even his name was given by the old man. Even if they were angry with each other in the past, now that the marriage has been decided, he should try to ease the relationship between the grandfather and grandson.

Along the way, she asked many questions in a roundabout way, but Qi Huaijing really couldn't get enough of her.

"It's not that we won't go, just not this time. Let's wait a little longer, wait... wait until we have a child before going."

"But even if we don't have a child now, can grandpa still kick you out?"

"Grandfather...he likes children very much. In the future, we will bring the child to his house to give him a surprise, understand?"

Chen Tang smiled and nodded, but he didn't believe it in his heart. Seeing how cautious he was, he guessed that Old Man Yue was a person with a very strange temper.

Qi Huaijing was a child he raised himself, no matter how noisy he was, he was still a family member. But he himself... probably wouldn't be well received.

Chen Tang secretly thought that he was afraid that Old Man Yue would not recognize him as his grandson's wife whom he had never met.

Well, this world is vast and I can’t ask for everyone to love me.

Just after the beginning of spring, a cold rain fell again. It was the time when the grass looked green at a distance but was not green nearby. The further north you went, the more crowded it was, and there were more shops and markets along the way.

Qi Huaijing travels between the two places all year round, and he always walks on the familiar official road. However, it is the first time for Chen Tang to travel so far. He observes and travels along the way, secretly sighing that the world is really so big, and the scenery along the way has its own merits.

After traveling for many days, the team of carriages and horses finally arrived at the outskirts of Beijing.

Another thirty miles ahead is the gate of the capital.

The official roads in the suburbs of Beijing are wide. It is early spring now, and there are many people going on outings on the road. There are also small vendors selling all kinds of daily necessities such as fruits, chestnuts, candies, kites, etc., who carry their loads on their shoulders and set up stalls along the road to sell their goods.

Qi Huaijing rode his horse slowly and was telling Chen Tang in the car about the interesting things that happened during his travels between the two places in the past few years. Occasionally he raised his eyes, then suddenly stopped talking and stared into the distance motionlessly.

Chen Tang followed his gaze and looked into the distance. There was a thick weeping willow tree on the roadside ahead. There was a thatched shed under the tree. On the sign hanging on the branch was a big word "Tea" written on it.

Qi Huaijing stared for a few moments and suddenly spoke.

"parking!"

He dismounted and knocked on the wall of the carriage.

"Come on, Tang'er, let's go have a cup of tea."

Chen Tang was surprised: "You usually don't buy food from the stalls outside, why did you change your mind today?"

Qi Huaijing didn't say anything. He waited for her to put on her veil hat and then went to the tea stall together.

The tea stall is not big, with a thatched roof supported by several thick wooden beams. Under the roof are four or five old tables and a dozen benches, with three or five tea drinkers sitting on them.

A clever waiter was shuttling back and forth beside the tea table, diligently pouring tea and water for the guests.

Under the big awning, an old man in a grey coat was lying on a wooden chair to bask in the sun, with a tattered straw hat covering his face to block out the midday sun.

Qi Huaijing pulled Chen Tang and walked into the room. He sat down at the tea table closest to the door, bent his index finger and tapped the table.

"Master, a guest is coming."

The old man only raised his head slightly, without taking off his straw hat, and spoke in a muffled voice.

"Dog, serve the tea."

“Here it comes!”

The waiter came over immediately and quickly poured two bowls of hot tea.

Qi Huaijing picked up the tea bowl, blew away the hot steam, and took a sip slowly.

“What a great tea!”

Qi Huaijing was very picky and would not easily praise the tea and food for being delicious. Chen Tang took a sip and nodded, saying that it was indeed a good tea.

She looked at the rough tea bowl in her hand. Could it be that the capital city was so prosperous that even the inconspicuous little tea shop outside the city gate could have such delicious tea that lingered in the mouth?

After Qi Huaijing finished praising, he put his feet on the bench, put his hands on his knees, and talked to the old man on the recliner.

"Old man, your tea tastes good. When did you open this tea shop?"

The old man was half asleep and didn't look like he wanted to talk to anyone. It took a while for him to speak.

"last year."

"Last year? I just passed this road at the beginning of last spring. How come I didn't see such a shop?"

"That's because your eyesight is bad."

Qi Huaijing smiled lightly, "How is the business of that shop?"

"It's so-so, just fine."

Qi Huaijing looked up and saw that it was just the beginning of spring. The grass in the suburbs was slightly green, the willow leaves were golden, the spring breeze was not cold on his face, and the sunshine was surprisingly warm.

"The world is bustling with people, all for profit. The world is bustling with people, all for profit. The old man is just enjoying the breeze, drinking tea, and not delaying his business. He has money and free time. He is really blessed."

The old man snorted through his nose.

"Blessings? The children and grandchildren in the family are more unfilial than each other. They don't get to enjoy the blessings, but they are quite angry."

When Qi Huaijing heard this, he smiled and said nothing, just lowered his head and drank tea.

Chen Tang looked at the disgruntled old man through his veil, then looked at Qi Huaijing.

"How can I, an old man without any luck, compare to a young man like you? Look at you, riding a big horse and driving a luxury carriage...

The old man tilted his head and looked in the direction of Chen Tang through his rotten straw hat.

"Oh, you're newlyweds! Congratulations! You're so blessed! Unlike an old man like me..."

Qi Huaijing still had a smile on his face.

"Old man, after talking for half a day, I'm sure you must be thirsty. I'll give you a sip of tea, and I'll save two cents on the tea. Okay?"

The old man ignored him, as if agreeing.

Qi Huaijing stood up with a smile, and really wanted to share the tea in his bowl with the old man.

Chen Tang stood up before him, held his shoulders, took off his veil, took a new tea bowl from the table, and poured himself a cup of fragrant hot tea.

She held the tea with both hands, walked lightly up to the old man and bowed gracefully.

"Granddaughter-in-law Shen, pays respects to grandfather."
