Chapter 64 A Ray of Light in My Life
"You seem quite relaxed and carefree. It seems I punished you too leniently!"
Lu Zhaoxue hurriedly kowtowed to beg for forgiveness. Chu Huaiyu did not say anything more and strode out. After taking a few steps, he turned around and saw that Lu Zhaoxue was still kneeling on the spot. Finally, he turned back with a look of disappointment and bent down to pick her up in his arms.
This hateful woman, every move she makes tugs at his heartstrings, she is utterly detestable!
Lu Zhaoxue didn't struggle. She pouted and let Chu Huaiyu hold her. Perfect, she could just treat him as a sedan chair carrier.
After returning to his bedchamber, Chu Huaiyu left Lu Zhaoxue on the bed and then ordered her to help him change. Lu Zhaoxue looked bewildered as she propped herself up and helped him undress.
Chu Huaiyu noticed Lu Zhaoxue's expression, took her hand, and asked with a half-smile, "Lu Zhaoxue, what was that expression you had just made?"
"Your Majesty, this servant showed no expression whatsoever."
Chu Huaiyu raised his hand again and caressed Lu Zhaoxue's lips. His gaze lingered on Lu Zhaoxue's lips, and then Chu Huaiyu leaned down and kissed her lips.
"Zhaoxue, were you jealous just now?"
Lu Zhaoxue remained expressionless and did not answer the question, but inwardly she cursed: Chu Huaiyu is a lunatic, always coming up with something out of nowhere!
Chu Huaiyu stared intently at Lu Zhaoxue, certain that she was jealous of Liu Ruohua.
Chu Huaiyu pulled Lu Zhaoxue to the bed. Lu Zhaoxue pushed him away abruptly, scrambled to her feet, and said softly, “Your Majesty, it is late. You should rest. I will take my leave now.”
After saying that, Lu Zhaoxue turned and strode away.
"Lu Zhaoxue! How dare you! You..." Chu Huaiyu shouted angrily, then watched helplessly as Lu Zhaoxue's figure disappeared at the palace gate.
Chu Huaiyu slammed his fist on the bed. He wondered if he had spoiled Lu Zhaoxue too much, letting her become so bold as to leave without a second thought!
On her way back to the palace, Lu Zhaoxue's thoughts kept drifting. She was thinking about Chu Siheng, wondering how he was doing, whether he was healthy, and whether he still missed her.
Thinking of this, Lu Zhaoxue shook her head again. Chu Siheng must have forgotten about her long ago. She smiled bitterly, took bigger steps, and decided to go back as soon as possible.
Under the bright moonlight, as she walked, Lu Zhaoxue's steps began to become unsteady. She stumbled and fell on the cobblestone path.
Lu Zhaoxue felt her head growing heavier and heavier. Suddenly, a familiar voice came to her ear: "Ah Xue".
Lu Zhaoxue looked up abruptly, and the person in front of her was Chu Siheng. Her eyes instantly welled up with tears, and Lu Zhaoxue could no longer hold back, hugging him tightly, "Siheng...you're back..."
"Ah Xue, I'm back. We'll never be apart again." Chu Siheng gently patted her back, his voice so tender it could melt the ice.
"Okay, we'll never be apart again." Lu Zhaoxue repeated these words over and over, tears streaming down her face.
Over the past four years, she and Chu Siheng have relied on each other and gone through their most difficult and painful times together. To her, Chu Siheng is a ray of light in her life, illuminating her originally dark and desperate life and giving her hope for life.
