Li Li has the same attitude towards boys and girls. After hearing what the aunt said, he was too lazy to argue with them.
Aunt Zhang continued, "When we were playing mahjong yesterday, your mom said Beibei's due date was three or four days away. How did she give birth so suddenly? When your wife called to say she was about to give birth, your mom was so excited. She must be overjoyed now that she's having a grandson."
Li Li's expression remained unchanged. He smiled and said to Aunt Zhang, "Yes, the attack happened a few days in advance. When Beibei had the attack yesterday, my mom was still playing mahjong with you guys, right?"
"Yeah, I didn't expect your wife to give birth a few days earlier." Aunt Zhang didn't realize that Li Li was trying to trick her, so she spoke without thinking.
Li Li chatted with Aunt Zhang for a few more words, then turned and left.
On the way back to the community, Li Li's expression was gloomy.
It turns out that last night when Beibei was bleeding heavily at home and almost lost her life, her mother was not on the way to buy fish, but at the mahjong table!
Ever since Li's mother had the operation, Li Li didn't allow her to go to work anymore, so Li's mother found a hobby of playing mahjong.
Before he got married, Li's mother spent every day at the mahjong parlor. After Su Beibei became pregnant, they got married and moved in together. Li's mother was very happy during that time. Thinking about becoming a grandmother, she stopped playing mahjong and stayed at home with Su Beibei.
Li Li thought that his mother never went to the mahjong hall again after that.
They even play mahjong during meal times. You can imagine how big my mother's addiction to cards is.
And Su Beibei had never told him these things!
Why didn't she say it?
Li Li was lost in thought all the way home, but when he returned, he didn't see his mother in the living room or dining room.
Guessing that Mother Li might be hiding in the room sulking, Li Li walked to the door and was about to knock when he heard his mother crying.
Li Li stood at the door, waited for a while, and then knocked on the door.
Some things cannot be avoided by crying.
Hearing the knock on the door, Li's mother quickly wiped away her tears.
Li Li turned the doorknob and walked into the house. Looking at his mother, whose face was covered with wet tears, he asked, "Are you crying?"
Mother Li's wrinkled face was filled with self-mockery. "My son bullied me like that for a woman. Shouldn't I be crying?"
Li Li felt very tired.
This kind of fatigue is more tiring than working overtime for a week.
He walked over to the bay window in his mother's room and sat down.
Looking at his mother's aged face, Li Li couldn't bear to stare at her. He looked away and said, "I just ran into Aunt Zhang."
Not understanding why Li Li suddenly mentioned Aunt Zhang, Li's mother asked him, "What happened when you met her?"
"She told me that you received a call from Beibei yesterday and learned that Beibei was about to give birth. You were so surprised that you dropped your mahjong and ran away."
Hearing this, Mother Li’s expression froze slightly.
She felt a little guilty, her eyes flickering, "She must have remembered it wrongly, I didn't even go to play cards yesterday..."
"mom."
Mother Li glanced at Li Li guiltily and asked him, "Hmm?"
Li Li clenched his fists and said, "I know a service company with a very good reputation. They have excellent nannies."
Mother Li frowned and said, "Why? Do you want to hire a nanny? I can take care of Beibei. I'm in good health, so taking care of a new mother shouldn't be a problem."
"Mom!" Li Li interrupted his mother's chatter and said, "I will find a reliable and capable nanny to take care of you."
Mother Li was dumbfounded.
"Li Li, what do you mean?" Li's mother's face changed.
Li Li said, "Perhaps every child's love for their parents is not as great as their parents' love for them. I know that my mother has suffered her entire life for me, so I should be filial to you."
"But Mom, everything in this world is a dilemma. If I obey you, I will be letting down Beibei and my child."
"I'm a family man now. I have to protect my wife and my children. Mom, I'm sorry. I plan to move out with Beibei."
"Let Mom live in this house alone. When I'm resting, I'll bring Beibei and my grandson back to see you. Since you love playing mahjong, then focus on playing mahjong and take good care of you in your old age. Leave the cooking, mopping the floor, and washing clothes to the nanny."
Li Li calmly finished explaining his plan.
After saying that, Li Li saw his mother sitting still on the bed, staring at him without saying a word, as if struck by lightning.
Li Li lowered his head.
He knew that his decision was cruel to his mother, but there was no other way. He couldn't think of a way to have the best of both worlds, so he had to do this.
He couldn't possibly let Su Beibei suffer in order to satisfy his mother, and he certainly couldn't possibly change his wife.
Mother Li suddenly grabbed her cell phone from the bedside table and smashed it hard against Li Li's chest.
Li Li endured the critical hit without moving.
Mother Li broke down in tears and cursed Li Li: "Li Li, you are such a piece of shit! You really have been bewitched by Su Beibei! You actually left me for her!"
"Have you forgotten what kind of life we lived in the early years? I worked so hard to raise you. You, Li Li, couldn't be where you are today without me! Now that you've grown up, do you really not want me anymore?"
"Li Li, are you worthy of me?"
Li Li lowered his head, and apologized with red eyes: "I'm sorry, Mom, I am unfilial."
"Don't apologize!"
Mother Li pointed at her own face and cried, "Look at my face! Look, we're both in our fifties, but Aunt Zhang looks like she's in her forties, and me? I look like that old woman in her sixties or seventies!"
