Everyone chatted animatedly for a while, and then Nan Yanyan reminded Arang, "We're here."
"Um."
The elevator door opened, and Valan said goodbye to the group of uncles and aunts with a smile.
As he stepped out of the elevator, Valjean untied his tie and breathed a sigh of relief. "Let's never live in a high-rise building again. I can't handle such enthusiastic neighbors." In fact, Valjean was not one to talk to strangers.
If it wasn't for the fact that he wanted to make them have a good impression of Nan Yanyan's boyfriend and save face for his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arang really wanted to keep silent.
Nan Yanyan suppressed her laughter and teased him, "I think you are quite good at coaxing people."
"Coaxing people is a course that every man should learn." Agen, who was walking in front, suddenly stopped and Nan Yanyan almost got in on him, but fortunately she braked in time.
Arjan turned around and looked down at Nan Yanyan. He said affectionately, "But I just want to use all the sweet words to make you happy."
Nan Yanyan just thought he was farting.
Arriving at Nan Yanyan's door, she was about to ring the doorbell when she heard Arang say, "Wait a moment."
Valan put down everything, quickly retied his loosened tie, and smoothed his already neat hair. Then he picked up the gift, took a deep breath, and said, "Okay, open it."
Watching his series of small movements, Nan Yanyan asked him, "Are you nervous?"
Argen nodded seriously, "Of course, this is my first time meeting your parents, how can I not be nervous?"
"Don't be nervous, my father is very easy to talk to."
"And your mother?"
"My mother treats all the handsome men in the world with tenderness."
Valan smiled with relief, "Thank goodness I have a fairly pleasing face."
Nan Yanyan hummed a sound and then pressed the doorbell. She actually had the key in her bag, but pressing the doorbell was a way for her parents to be prepared and give them a heads-up.
Footsteps were soon heard in the room. "Here they come." A bright and mellow male voice sounded from behind the door. Valan saw the doorknob turned a circle and the door was pushed open.
Arang and Nan Yanyan took a step back and waited for the door to open before looking up.
The person who opened the door was Professor Nan. Professor Nan wasn't particularly handsome, and could even be described as average. Just looking at his appearance, it was hard to imagine that Nan Yanyan and Nan Guanguan were his children.
Thanks to Nan's mother for her genetic contribution! This is the survival of the fittest in the history of genes!
Professor Nan's sideburns were neatly trimmed, apparently having been to the barber shop just today. He wore a gray polo shirt, formal suit trousers, and a pair of black old-fashioned leather shoes.
With his polo shirt tucked into his belt, he looks energetic and scholarly.
It seems that Professor Nan also attaches great importance to today's meeting, so he dressed quite formally and handsomely.
As soon as Valjean saw his future father-in-law, his heart began to beat faster. He hadn't felt nervous for a long time. The last time he felt so nervous was the night he killed Edward.
Arang heard Nan Yanyan say, "Dad, this is Han Rang."
Professor Nan stared at Arjan with a scrutinizing look.
The daughter had already given them a heads-up, telling them that her future son-in-law was a mixed-race child, four years older than her, and came from a rather special family, and hoped that they would not ask about his father.
Professor Nan's eyes were obviously gentle, but Arang felt nervous.
Professor Nan is a highly respected professor, while Arang is a child who has never been to school. Standing in front of Professor Nan, Arang felt a little embarrassed.
He felt a little sad.
If he wasn't Edward's child, but just a child from an ordinary family, how great would that be? Then he could study seriously, take the college entrance examination, and become a university student just like his half-sister.
In that way, when he stood in front of Professor Nan today, he would be able to chat and laugh with Professor Nan, talking about his mother, his studies, the papers he had written, and the books he had read.
But this is all wishful thinking.
He never went to school. From a young age, he was taught by professional teachers hired by Edward. He learned gunmanship, horsemanship, tactics, fighting techniques, and various languages...
Nan Yanyan noticed that Arang was in a daze. She gently touched Arang's arm and reminded him: "Arang, call for help!"
Arang's brain went crazy and he shouted, "Dad, we're back!"
Professor Nan: “…”
Nan Yanyan was stunned for a moment, then lowered her head and smiled secretly.
Professor Nan found this quite sudden, but he did not blame Valan for his slip of the tongue. He just said, "Now that you're back, come in." Professor Nan is indeed a man who has seen the world and can handle himself well.
Valan now realized what a stupid thing he had done, but apologizing now would make him look clumsy, so he simply admitted to his little mistake.
As Arang was about to take off his shoes, Professor Nan quickly said, "No need to slip on. It's not raining outside, and your shoes won't be dirty."
Nan Yanyan said, "No need to take it off."
Only then did Arang stand up and walk into the Nan family in his leather shoes.
Entering the house and passing a screen at the entrance, the dining room is behind. Valanciunas stood in the dining room with a gift in his hand. Seeing Nan's mother cooking, he placed the gift on the dining table and said to the lady in the kitchen, "Hello, Auntie, I'm Valanciunas."
Mother Nan turned down the fire and turned to look at Arang.
Seeing a handsome young man in a suit standing in the restaurant, Nan's mother's eyes suddenly lit up. "Oh, Arang is here. Come and sit down. Your uncle made you some tea. It's too fumy here. Come back when the meal is ready."
Arjan nodded and said, "The food smells so good! I'm in for a treat tonight."
