Chapter 383: Making people happy is God's business, making you suffer is my business

The rented house I used to live in has been rented out by someone else, the vegetable market is still bustling, and the underground boxing gym is open again, but the owner has changed.

Jiang Zhen revisited his hometown. After three years of wandering, he finally felt a sense of security at home.

He didn't stay in Nanxing City for long and went to the county town. He remembered Jiang Bi's home and was stopped by the security guard when he arrived downstairs of Jiang Bi's community.

Seeing Jiang Zhen wearing a baseball cap and looking awful, the security guard stopped him outside and asked, "Who are you looking for?"

Jiang Zhen lowered his head and said, "I'm looking for Professor Su. I'm the nephew of Professor Su's wife and I just came back from abroad."

"Professor Su?" The guard thought for a moment before remembering who Professor Su was. His expression changed slightly. He gave Jiang Zhen a strange look and said, "Professor Su and his wife drowned while traveling three years ago. Didn't you know about this?"

"What?"

Jiang Zhen looked up in astonishment at the guard and asked in disbelief, "You said Professor Su and his wife passed away?"

"Yes!" The guard felt that Jiang Zhen's identity was suspicious. He said, "You are Teacher Jiang's nephew. Don't you know that Teacher Jiang passed away?"

Jiang Zhen didn't answer the question, but asked anxiously, "Where's my sister?"

Doorman: “Huh?”

Jiang Zhen grabbed the guard's shoulders, and that grab probably left finger marks on the guard's shoulders.

Jiang Zhen was worried when he thought about Jiang Bi's adoptive parents who had died two years ago and Jiang Bi had been living alone for the past two years. "Where's Su Run? Where's my sister Su Run?" Su Run was the name Jiang Bi had been given after she was adopted by Professor Su.

The guard hesitated for a moment before saying, "Not long after Professor Su and the others died, your sister, heartbroken, committed suicide by lying on the railway tracks. Don't you know about this?"

The guard looked at Jiang Zhen with a questioning look in his eyes. "Who are you? You're not Teacher Jiang's nephew, are you? How could you not know about something so serious happening in Professor Su's family?"

"Who are you? You look suspicious. Show me your ID card!"

Jiang Zhen pushed the security guard away and ran away.

He ran all the way to the studio where Jiang Bi had studied art, and only then stopped. Jiang Zhen leaned against the railing, looking at the shimmering water, his mind in a turmoil.

My sister committed suicide by lying on the railway tracks?

How could my sister commit suicide by lying on the railway tracks!

Even if her adoptive parents died, she still had herself!

Jiang Zhen's vision became blurry. He refused to accept that his sister had passed away so soon after he left!

Just then, the children in the studio next door all finished school and walked out of the studio with their painting bags.

Jiang Zhen heard the noise and turned his head to look over there. He stared at the group of energetic boys and girls, and when he thought of his own sister, his heart ached.

After the art teacher saw off the students, he returned to his office to get his bag and car keys, and was about to leave work. Coming downstairs, he saw a tall, slender young man standing in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the studio.

Thinking he was a student who wanted to learn painting, the teacher approached him enthusiastically and introduced him to the painting, saying, "The painting in front of you is the work of a student from our school. It won the first prize in the Southwest Youth Painting Competition."

It was an oil painting of a starry sky, a testament to the artist's mastery of color and understanding of light. Jiang Zhen would never be able to paint such brilliant colors in his entire life.

He stared at the signature on the painting and murmured, "Su Run..."

The smile on the teacher's face gradually dimmed. "Su Run, you are the best student I have ever had. Unfortunately..."

Jiang Zhen lowered his head, half of his face hidden by his cap, and asked the teacher, "Which school is this student Su Run from? I really like her paintings and would like to meet her."

The teacher's face showed a trace of pain. He said, "Student Su Run is gone."

"Where did she go? To another art studio? Or to college?" Knowing that Jiang Bi was dead, Jiang Zhen felt more pain in his heart with every question he asked.

If she died, she would never be able to paint again, let alone go to college.

The teacher didn't want to talk about Su Run any more, and just said, "Su Run is no longer with us. Student, if you're here to sign up for painting lessons at our studio, you can go upstairs and ask the dean."

After saying that, the teacher left without looking back.

Every time Su Run is mentioned, the teacher feels sad.

Jiang Zhen stared at the painting, clenching his fists tightly. He returned to the hotel and searched for a long time before finding a report on the internet about Jiang Bi's suicide by lying on the railway tracks.

The news report was very short, only a few sentences -

On November 23, 2018, local time, a young woman committed suicide by lying on the railway tracks in our county. An investigation revealed that the woman, a local resident, had lost her parents two months prior. Interviews revealed that she had suffered from depression following her parents' death and that she committed suicide by lying on the tracks.

This is the content of the news report. It is brief and concise, and it easily concludes that Jiang Bi committed suicide by lying on the railway tracks because of depression.

Jiang Zhen didn't believe this was true!

When my younger sister was in Yue State, she was locked up by her adoptive father for several months and never saw him. She became depressed and attempted suicide. How could she commit suicide by lying on the railway tracks just because of the death of her adoptive parents!

Jiang Bi looks thin and petite, but in fact her heart is as hard as a rock. She is stronger than anyone else. If she hadn't encountered something that really made her desperate, she would not do such a thing!

Jiang Zhen suspected that this was a conspiracy!

He must find out what happened to his sister!

Jiang Zhen hacked into the archives and found the person who handled Jiang Bi's suicide case.
