Li Ao was like a frightened bird, with every hair on his body standing on end.
Is she going to hit herself?
Li Ao loudly admitted his mistake: "I shouldn't have fought back! I won't fight back again next time! Please, don't hit me!"
Han Miao hugged Li Ao tightly and said to him, "Neil, I am Miaomiao! Neil, no one dares to hit you, and no one will hit you anymore. Neil, you are safe. You are safe now."
Li Ao was trapped in his own world and couldn't hear what Han Miao was saying at all. He neurotically kept repeating words of begging for mercy and admitting his mistakes.
Han Miao was so distressed that she cried. She leaned her head on Li Ao's thin shoulders and said in a choked voice, "Neil, I will protect you. Don't be afraid. Ah! I will protect you. No one can hurt you!"
Han Miao's hands were wet with tears, and the phone slipped from her palm, the screen falling to the ground. The light from the phone's flashlight shone directly onto the classroom ceiling, and the dark classroom became bright under the illumination of that beam of light.
Li Ao saw the light.
Light?
Li Ao looked at the dazzling light, and gradually his confused consciousness returned.
He realized he was in a classroom, not a basement.
The crazy woman who hurt him was dead long ago.
Li Ao lowered his head and saw that his arms were being held by a pair of hands.
He tilted his head and saw a face that was crying profusely. It was chubby and had put on makeup tonight, but after crying, the false eyelashes, eye shadow and liquid foundation mixed together, looking like a paint palette that he had stained.
Li Ao looked at Han Miao, and something in his eyes was quietly changing.
Han Miao noticed that Li Ao was no longer trembling and no longer muttering those neurotic words, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Han Miao relaxed her hug to Li Ao. She gently patted Li Ao's back with her palm and sang: "Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are..."
When Han Miao was a child and couldn't sleep well, Song Ci would sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to her. Han Miao used the most clumsy and innocent way to comfort Li Ao's panicked and painful heart.
Hearing the girl's clear and gentle singing, Li Ao gradually relaxed. He sat down on the ground, leaned his head on Li Ao's shoulder, and felt weak all over.
“Twinkle, twinkle little star…”
Bang!
When Han Miao sang for the fourth time, the entire floor suddenly became as bright as day!
Someone turned on the power.
The light was blinding, and Li Ao blinked before pushing Han Miao away and sitting up. He looked up at the lights in the classroom and heard footsteps running towards him from the end of the corridor.
A few seconds later, Han Jun, Han Zheng and their bodyguards all appeared at the classroom door.
Seeing that Han Miao and Li Ao were there, the bodyguards breathed a sigh of relief and quickly picked up their phones and went to the corridor to call Li Li to inform him of the news.
Han Jun and Han Zheng walked over to the two men. They said nothing. Han Jun bent down and pulled Han Miao up, while Han Zheng stretched out his hands to Li Ao.
Li Ao hesitated for a moment before placing his hand in Han Zheng's palm.
Han Zheng pulled Li Ao up. He noticed that Li Ao's cheeks were pale and his lips were bleeding from being bitten by his teeth due to fear.
He thought of Li Ao's tragic childhood and felt sorry for his brother. "Brother Li Ao, can you still stand?"
Han Zheng didn't laugh at Li Ao, nor would he laugh at him. Who hasn't been afraid sometimes?
Li Ao's legs were weak and he couldn't stand up at all. Li Ao shook his head at Han Zheng and pointed at the stool, signaling Han Zheng to help him sit down.
Han Zheng helped Li Ao walk towards the stool.
Li Ao sat on the stool and glanced at Han Miao secretly.
Han Miao was wiping her tears and telling her younger siblings, "He scared me tonight. When I found him, he was huddled in the corner by the door, shaking. When I approached him, he even kicked me!"
Han Miao squatted down, lifted the hem of her skirt, then pulled down the zipper on the side of her leather shoes, and lifted up her flesh-colored leggings to reveal her calf skin.
Han Jun saw a purple scar on Han Miao's calf. She wondered what had happened and looked at Li Ao with a look full of condemnation.
Han Miao pointed at the scar and looked up to accuse Li Ao: "Neil, look, I'm hurt again because of you. Ever since I met you, I've been hurt non-stop!"
Li Ao stared at the scar and realized that it was caused by his previous kick. He felt very sorry and didn't dare to look Han Miao in the eye.
Han Miao was not really blaming Li Ao, she just wanted Li Ao to know how good she was and not to look down on others in the future.
Han Miao put down his leggings, put on his shoes, stood up, looked at Li Ao's frail face, and asked with concern: "Are you feeling better now?"
Li Ao nodded.
Han Miao asked again: "Can you speak now?" Han Miao pulled Han Jun's arm and said excitedly: "Neil can speak now. I heard him speak before."
Han Jun and Han Zheng both looked surprised.
Han Zheng asked Li Ao, "Brother Li Ao, can you speak now?"
Li Ao looked at the three siblings. He tried to open his mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
He still can't speak!
Li Ao shook his head at Han Miao and the others.
Seeing this, Han Miao was somewhat discouraged. "Oh." She sighed and said, "I thought you could speak."
Li Ao knew better than anyone that he couldn't speak because of a psychological barrier, but psychological barriers were not something that could be overcome just by saying so.
They rested in the classroom for a while, and when Li Ao was able to stand up and walk, they headed out of the school. Before they reached the school gate, they met Li Li halfway.
