Chapter 66: Call Sister-in-law

Han Zhan exited the chat interface with his grandfather, and Song Ci happened to send another message in. It was a voice message, a total of three seconds long.

Han Zhan turned down the volume a bit before turning on the voice chat to listen—

Song Ci: [Brother Han, are you in the company? I'm downstairs from your company.]

Han Zhan quickly replied to Song Ci: [Where is it?]

Song Ci sent another voice message back: [Underground garage.]

Han Zhan: [Take the elevator to the seventh floor. I'll be waiting for you at the elevator door.] After replying to the WeChat message, Han Zhan stood up and walked out of the cafeteria. When Li Li came back with two meals, he found that Han Zhan was gone. He asked other colleagues, "Where is Mr. Han?"

"I don't know. He just left suddenly."

Li Li thought Han Zhan might have gone to the bathroom, so he set the plate and started eating first.

--

When Han Zhan led Song Ci into the staff cafeteria, the originally noisy restaurant suddenly became quiet. Everyone opened their eyes with curiosity and stared at Song Ci's face.

Is it really Song Dynasty porcelain?

Song Ci and Han Zhan appeared together! This means that the revelations on the forum are most likely true!

Song Ci was wearing a neck brace, which really detracted from her charm, but she was still beautiful. Someone whispered to a colleague, "Is it Song Ci? Really Song Ci?"

"She's white, tall, and beautiful. Who else could it be but Song Ci? I heard she was in a car accident a while ago, and it's obvious that her injuries haven't healed yet."

"It seems that what was said in the forum is true. Song Ci really married Han Zhan."

Only one woman was completely bewildered. She poked the steak in her bowl with her chopsticks, wondering, "This is unbelievable! How can a woman in this world look so good wearing a neck brace?"

Everyone's discussions entered Song Ci's ears.

Song Ci caught a glimpse of many people looking at Han Zhan with curiosity and contempt, and she suddenly felt uncomfortable.

What happened to Han Zhan?

What's wrong with him?

Song Ci suddenly held his left hand. Han Zhan paused, lowered his head and asked her, "What's wrong?" Han Zhan thought Song Ci had something to say to him.

Song Ci smiled at him, gentle and touching. "Shake hands and show your affection to Brother Han." Han Zhan may have guessed the deep meaning behind Song Ci's action, and there was a hint of warmth in his eyes. "Okay."

Li Li was so surprised when he saw Song Ci and Han Zhan walking in hand in hand that he almost choked. He swallowed the white rice in his mouth with difficulty, raised his right hand, and waved to Song Ci. "Hi... Miss Song."

Song Ci was about to nod when she suddenly heard Han Zhan's voice, very soft but very forceful, say to Li Li: "What's Miss Song? Call her sister-in-law."

Song Ci's face was slightly red, and who wouldn't be moved by that shy look?

Li Li's tongue was a little numb, but he still awkwardly changed his words and called out, "Sister-in-law."

Song Ci nodded awkwardly, then sat down next to Han Zhan.

Seeing this, Han Zhan was very satisfied.

"This is mine. Eat first. I'll get you some food." Han Zhan pushed the plate Li Li had prepared for him in front of Song Ci. Four dishes, one soup, two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, and a huge pile of white rice. It was Han Zhan's typical appetite.

Song Ci stared at the pile of rice, thinking of Han Zhan's housekeeping code of conduct, she shook her head and said, "I can't finish it, it's a waste."

"Then wait a minute."

Han Zhan turned and walked towards the food counter. After a while, he returned with a plate of rice. The dishes were all light, with only two spoonfuls of rice. "Eat this."

Han Zhan put the plate in front of Song Ci. Seeing Song Ci staring at the two spoonfuls of rice in a daze, Han Zhan knew what she was thinking. He frowned and warned Song Ci: "You must finish it. Not a single grain of rice can be left." It was ridiculous for someone who was just over 1.7 meters tall not to be able to finish two spoonfuls of rice.

Song Ci silently picked up the chopsticks and started eating.

Li Li watched the two of them interacting, feeling strange. Mr. Han's treatment of Miss Song was just like the way his mother treated him when he was a child...

After taking a few bites of her meal, Song Ci looked up to catch her breath, and her eyes met those of several employees sitting at the table in front of her. Noticing that they were all looking at her and Han Zhan, Song Ci guessed what they were thinking.

Han Zhan was eating in silence when a piece of fragrant and crispy roast duck meat suddenly appeared on his plate. The skin was thin and the meat was thick. Han Zhan looked up at Song Ci in confusion. Song Ci smiled sweetly at him and said in a soft and tender voice, "Brother Han, I gave you the biggest piece of duck meat. Brother Han, I love you."

Han Zhan nodded slightly under Li Li's gaze, as if he had seen a ghost, and replied to Song Ci: "It hurts."

After a brief pause, Han Zhan picked up the piece of meat and ate it.

After finishing his meal, Han Zhan was puzzled to find Song Ci still looking at him with a smile. He thought for a moment, picked up a piece of cold beef from his plate, and handed it to Song Ci's plate.

Song Ci shook her head and said, "No." She held Han Zhan's left hand and said as she taught him, "Do you know how to feed your wife? If not, I will teach you."

Han Zhan watched Song Ci hold his hand and pass the piece of meat to her mouth. Song Ci bit the beef, but Han Zhan felt as if his heart was bitten by Song Ci. It didn't hurt, but it was a little itchy.

Han Zhan pulled back his chopsticks and heard Song Ci say, "The meat that Brother Han feeds you is really delicious. I like it."

Han Zhan lowered his eyes slightly, not knowing how to respond to her teasing.

Li Li was blinded by the unbridled display of affection between the two. He could have eaten a few more bites, but he chose to put down his chopsticks. "I'm full, enjoy yourselves."

Li Li took the plate and slipped away.

As soon as Li Li left, Han Zhan secretly gave Song Ci a warning look. Fearing that Song Ci would do something strange again, Han Zhan said to her in a deep voice: "Eat your meal, or it will get cold."

"Brother Han really loves me." Song Ci smiled with satisfaction, then lowered her head to continue eating.

Their interaction was open and honest, and their colleagues witnessed this scene, feeling a mixture of emotions. It seemed that Song Ci and Han Zhan did have a genuine relationship, without any deception or intrigue.

Han Zhan finished his meal, not leaving a single grain.

On the side, Song Ci was also full. Han Zhan saw that her plate was very clean and looked quite satisfied.

Song Ci was also a little proud, feeling like being publicly praised by a teacher in kindergarten. At this moment, the phone screen lit up, and Song Ci took it out and saw that it was a WeChat message from Mu Qiu.

She frowned and opened WeChat.

Mu Qiu said, "Sister, I noticed a lot of people on the forum are talking about you and your brother-in-law. Do you need to delete the post? I can contact my friends and find a way to have it deleted."

So kind?

But Song Ci refused to follow the script.

Song Ci: [No, I'm getting married, not having an affair. There's nothing shameful about that.]

Mu Qiu: [...]

Mu Qiu had been editing the message. Song Ci waited for a while and Mu Qiu finally sent the message.

Mu Qiu: [I want to be discharged. I don't want to waste the rest of my life in the hospital. I still have a lot of things I want to do. I've made a bucket list, and I want to accomplish as many of the things on it as possible before I die, leaving no regrets.]
