Hearing the word "child," there was silence for two seconds on the other end, followed by Noland's surprised and joyful cry, "Belle?" Noland immediately sat up from the bed and asked Su Beibei, "Belle, where do you live now?"
Su Beibei gave the address and ate all the cheese on the cheese stick in one gulp. She twirled the keychain in her hand and asked Noland, "Kid, are you coming to my house for dinner tonight? You haven't met my baby Neil yet."
Noland immediately agreed.
He said again: "Belle, I want to eat..."
"Braised pork trotters, shredded cabbage, and hot pot! I remember them all." Su Beibei completed Noland's words.
Noland laughed dumbly, "You are so kind."
"Okay, I'm going to buy groceries. Call me when you get there."
“OK.”
Su Beibei drove the children and her aunt to the supermarket to buy groceries, which took more than 40 minutes. When they got home, Li Ao was in the living room working on the puzzle Han Jun had given him, while Su Beibei and her aunt were cooking in the kitchen.
My aunt was preparing a steamboat, boiling the broth. Su Beibei was preparing braised pork trotters on another stove. Just as they were about to be served, her phone rang.
Seeing that it was Noland calling, Su Beibei turned off the engine, took the phone, and walked out of the house while talking on the phone. "Where have you been?"
Noland was sitting in a Mercedes-Benz, looking out at the houses. He said, "I was turning the corner and saw..."
"you."
Noland saw Su Beibei.
She was standing at the gate of a house, her black hair casually tied up, with two strands of black hair hanging down in front of her forehead, and cherry red lipstick, making her look very imposing.
She wore a white tight tank top, a black motorcycle-style leather jacket, and light grey jeans that covered her long legs. Her outfit was cool and sassy, but she wore a pair of black velvet slippers with two devil horns on them.
Those cute slippers broke her coolness and added a lot of cuteness.
Su Beibei heard the sound of a car and looked up at the cement road. She saw a black Mercedes-Benz coming. She squinted her eyes, as if trying to see the driver clearly.
Noland pulled over to the side of the road.
He put on his sunglasses, opened the car door, and walked out. Noland was wearing a long beige trench coat, a round-neck casual T-shirt, and light gray vertical striped casual trousers.
The white sneakers gently kicked the stones on the ground. Noland took his hands out of his pockets, opened his arms to Su Beibei, raised his lips and said, "Belle, come here, give me a hug."
Su Beibei walked down the stairs and stood in front of Noland.
She found that Noland was much taller than her.
Noland made a gesture to wait for a hug, but Su Beibei reached out and punched him in the chest, "Get lost, why are you hugging me? Do you still think you are a seven or eight-year-old child?"
Su Beibei was sent abroad by Mu Mian when she was less than seven years old. When she was ten years old, the housekeeper found that she could complete all things independently, so he left her and returned home.
Su Beibei was living alone in a foreign country, and it would be a lie to say she wasn't afraid. Luckily, there was an elderly couple living next door. The old lady was Chinese, and she was Norland's grandmother. The old lady treated Su Beibei like her granddaughter and often made delicious meals for her. Thanks to their companionship and protection, Su Beibei wasn't bullied by others.
When Su Beibei was ten years old, Noland came to spend the summer vacation at her grandparents' house. That was the first time they met.
Noland was kidnapped and ransomed as a child. When he was found, he was nearly dead and traumatized. After a period of treatment, the psychiatrist learned that Noland was very attached to his grandparents and suggested that he be sent to live with them.
The first time Su Beibei saw Noland was one afternoon after school. She got off the school bus and saw Noland being chased and bitten by a neighbor's puppy.
The little kid was very afraid of dogs. He ran while barking and even fell down.
Su Beibei picked up Noland and ran with him. Disliked by Noland's weak legs and slow running, Su Beibei picked him up and ran with him.
Later, when the dog chased Noland again, Su Beibei chased it away.
Noland lived with his grandparents for three years.
During those three years, whenever Su Beibei had school vacation, Noland would always follow her to play, like her little tail.
Noland thinks Su Beibei is a hero because she can beat the dog.
Knowing that Su Beibei was Chinese and a fan of Kung Fu superstar Bruce Lee, Noland pestered Su Beibei to teach him Chinese Kung Fu. Su Beibei didn't know any Kung Fu, so she bought two wooden swords to pretend to be swords and taught Noland the Emei sword.
With the company of Su Beibei and his grandparents day and night, Noland finally got out of his psychological shadow. He was taken back to his parents and received an elite education. He only came to his grandparents' house during holidays.
The two grew up together and did not separate until Su Beibei returned to China at the age of 20.
When she first returned to China, Noland flew to China to meet her.
Su Beibei still clearly remembers what happened on her 23rd birthday.
Su Beibei's birthday was on the 16th day of the first lunar month. It snowed in Wangdong City that day and there was no one in the cafe at night, so Su Beibei asked A Kun to leave work early.
She was about to close the door of the cafe and go upstairs to write, but she saw a tall figure standing in the middle of the road outside the cafe.
The 18-year-old boy was wearing a blue down jacket, a knitted hat on his head, and holding a large black umbrella, standing in the snow.
At that time, Noland was preparing for the SAT exam in March. He was not a very smart teenager and relied entirely on his own hard work to study.
