When Li Ze learned that someone had already notified those people on his behalf, he immediately felt relieved.
Just then, the food he ordered arrived. He had ordered a lot, and the table was full of dishes.
"Shall we grab something to eat together?" Li Ze invited the three of them.
"Is this for lunch or dinner?" the captain asked with a smile, not bothering to be polite with Li Ze, and immediately picked up the cutlery.
"Let's have dinner," Li Ze said. After this meal, he probably wouldn't eat anything else tonight.
"Oh right, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Cheng Qiao." Cheng Qiao's eyes were bright and piercing, and he unconsciously exuded a touch of authority when he looked at people.
Li Ze hummed in agreement, glanced at Cheng Qiao, and then focused his attention on the food.
Cheng Qiao smiled helplessly; it seemed he wasn't as appealing as the food.
He had originally planned to talk to Li Ze about those laboratories, those amazing creatures, and the experiments conducted there, but seeing Li Ze's lack of interest, he hesitated whether to tell him.
Because of the addition of Cheng Qiao and two other men, Li Ze ordered a few more dishes along the way.
After the meal, Cheng Qiao paid the bill.
“There are three of us, and you’re the only one, so it’s my treat,” Cheng Qiao explained immediately when he saw Li Ze frowning.
“But I ate more by myself than the three of you combined,” Li Ze retorted.
“You helped us so much yesterday, it’s only right that we treat you to as many meals as we can,” Cheng Qiao said, then casually mentioned the underground laboratory from yesterday. “Behind the laboratory is a force called ‘Qi,’ and this force has many such laboratories. The appearance of those monsters on Greedy Wolf Star was also the work of that force. Their purpose is still unclear, but based on the information we’ve gathered so far, their infiltration of the Empire is very deep. The most frightening thing is that our people have deduced from the data left behind in the laboratory that this force called Qi seems to have mastered the rules of how Void Beasts break through the void.”
At first, Li Ze's expression was nonchalant, until Cheng Qiao said the last sentence, at which point his clear black and white eyes suddenly narrowed, "The laws governing how Void Beasts break through the void?"
Cheng Qiao nodded, his face grave. "We don't know the specifics, but it seems to be true. What's even more mysterious is that they seem to be able to control the location where the Void Beasts break through the void. For example, this time at the Mech Competition of the Ten Military Academies, and the last time, the Professional Mech Competition on Vermilion Bird Star. You were there both times, so you should remember."
Li Ze naturally remembered that time on Suzaku Star, which was the first time he piloted a mecha.
Li Ze, who had initially paid little attention to the underground laboratory, now became interested. He solemnly asked Cheng Qiao, "If you gather more information about Qi, could you inform me without violating your work regulations?"
“Okay.” Cheng Qiao agreed quickly, but added cautiously, “You’ve ruined their plans three times. Now, you’re probably a thorn in their side, and they wish they could get rid of you as soon as possible. Be careful.”
Li Ze nodded, "Thanks for reminding me, I will."
"On Taotie Star, you can ask me for help with any difficulties you encounter. But once we leave Taotie Star, I can't help you anymore," Cheng Qiao said with a smile.
Li Ze said thank you again.
"When do you plan to go to the square again?" Zhao Qiao asked.
Li Ze thought for a moment, "Tomorrow morning at nine o'clock."
"I heard that after you teach someone a lesson, they feel particularly comfortable. What's the reason behind that?" Zhao Qiao asked.
Upon hearing this, the two police officers beside him immediately perked up their ears and stared intently at Li Ze, their curiosity practically written all over their foreheads.
Li Ze shook his head. "I don't know. Fighting is legal on Taotie Star. Isn't it just to let the Sentinels vent their frustrations? It's normal to feel relaxed after venting, right?"
Zhao Qiao: "...Your expression doesn't change, but whether you're lying or not, I'm a policeman, I can still tell."
Li Ze wasn't embarrassed by being exposed, and changed his story, "Actually, it's nothing. I just suppressed their mental seas quite a bit during the fight. Their mental seas were restless, like an inflating balloon, and I just deflated that balloon."
Zhao Qiao and the two police officers: "........."
That's a very vivid metaphor.
only--
"They were trying to guide and channel the flow, but you just crushed it?" Cheng Qiao unconsciously used polite language.
“It’s too slow and troublesome to guide people through this,” Li Ze said casually. “And who knows, I might also be affected by the emotions within my mental sea.”
Cheng Qiao licked his dry lips. "After the guides have sorted out the sentinels' mental seas, their emotions will indeed be affected by the sentinels. Therefore, after sorting out a sentinel, they usually need several hours or even several days to recover."
“But isn’t that normal? Why doesn’t anyone think about changing it?” one of the officers chimed in.
"Is it possible that it's because everyone else isn't that strong?" another officer said, looking at Li Ze. "Perhaps only someone of Mr. Li Ze's level can suppress other people's mental seas so blatantly."
Li Ze nodded seriously, "That's right."
Indeed, his divine sense was powerful enough and his control was extremely precise; otherwise, it wouldn't have been just crushed, but burst.
Cheng Qiao and the two police officers seemed to be deep in thought. Cheng Qiao spoke first, "Why don't you put some pressure on me too?"
The two officers looked at their captain with unreadable expressions. "What you said is very ambiguous."
"Ahem." An unnatural look crossed Cheng Qiao's face, but he quickly added, "I need to calm my mind."
