Half an hour later, Ishikawa, Yanagi, and others hurriedly arrived at the hospital.
"What's wrong with you?" Ishikawa was startled to see Li Ze lying on the hospital bed with a pale face.
"It's nothing, just a fever," Li Ze said casually, with a nutrient solution straw in his mouth. "I don't know which ward He Xingjue is in. If you want to see him, go ask the doctor yourself."
Ishikawa and Yanagi exchanged a glance and said, "Alright, we'll go see the commander first, and then come back to keep you company later."
Li Ze remained noncommittal, waving his hand to them, indicating that they could leave.
As soon as he left the ward, Ishikawa rubbed his face vigorously, his expression a mix of laughter and tears. "It seems it's true."
Liu Yanzhi nodded and quickened his pace. "This is a miracle!"
He couldn’t wait to find out what had happened and why someone could come back to life.
In the ward, Li Ze finished his IV fluids and then drank a glass of water, intending to sleep a little longer.
As for He Xingjue, they had signed a contract, and he could sense the other's physical condition whenever he wanted, without having to make a special trip.
Li Ze slept for another two hours.
When he opened his eyes, there was no one in the ward, but he could hear deliberately hushed voices coming from outside the door.
It was the voice of Ishikawa and the others.
Li Ze got out of bed, washed his face in the bathroom, and then opened the door to the ward and went out.
"Madam?" Ishikawa greeted her, his eyes sparkling as he looked at Li Ze, his admiration practically overflowing.
Li Ze frowned. "Aren't you going to find a place to stay? Are you planning to keep watch here all night?"
Aren't you tired with those dark circles under your eyes?
“We’ve booked a hotel right across from the hospital, and we’ve booked one for you too. The doctor said they’ll send someone to watch over the commander, so we can come back tomorrow,” Ishikawa said with a smile.
Li Ze nodded, "It's getting late, let's go out now."
Li Ze did not mention going to see He Xingjue.
Ishikawa and the others didn't think anything was wrong. The lady had saved the commander's life, so he must care about the commander. It was just that the lady was rather reserved and not good at expressing herself.
Another night passed, and early the next morning, Ishikawa and his guards rushed to the hospital. As for Dr. Liu Yanzhi, he was even more audacious; he hadn't returned the previous night.
Li Ze slept until late morning, and was later woken up by Ishikawa's communication; otherwise, he probably could have slept even longer.
"Madam, please come to the hospital quickly. The Commander has woken up, but it seems there's something wrong with his mind," Ishikawa said anxiously.
Li Ze frowned. Had something gone wrong with his brain? Could it be that the contract was wrong and had made He Xingjue stupid?
When Li Ze arrived at the hospital gate, he was led by the guards stationed there to He Xingjue's ward.
In the ward, besides Liu Yanzhi and Ishikawa, there was a group of doctors, all of whom had solemn expressions on their faces.
"Commander He?" the doctor called out to He Xingjue.
He Xingjue sat upright on the hospital bed, his back straight, his eyes empty and unfocused, without a trace of light.
“Commander? Do you remember me? I am your personal guard captain, Ishikawa.” Ishikawa’s expression was earnest.
However, He Xingjue still didn't give him any response.
Upon seeing this, the doctor sighed, his expression filled with helplessness and regret, "The brain has been deprived of oxygen for too long, I'm afraid—"
He didn't finish his sentence, but everyone present could sense the unspoken meaning.
"Is there really no way at all?" Ishikawa asked, unwilling to give up.
The doctor shook his head. "Medical methods are not an option at the moment."
"What other methods are there?" Ishikawa pressed.
The doctor cast a pitying glance at Ishikawa and comforted him, "Take good care of yourself; perhaps your intelligence will gradually return. Also, we examined Commander He's body and found that he—"
The doctor paused again, making Ishikawa and the others' hearts leap into their throats. Could things be even worse?
Under the tense gaze of Ishikawa and the others, the doctor said regretfully, "Commander He is no longer a Sentinel. His physical indicators are now no different from those of an ordinary person."
They survived, but lost their intelligence and their 3S-level Sentinel.
After the doctors left, Ishikawa and the others in the ward remained in a daze for a long time, and did not notice Li Ze at the door.
"Cheer up, at least you're out of danger," Liu Yanzhi comforted him.
Ishikawa's eyes were red as he looked up at Liu Yanzhi. "Dr. Liu, is there really no way at all?"
Liu Yanzhi shook his head. "The brain injury is likely irreversible, and recovery will be extremely difficult. As for the Sentinel's physique, that's also uncertain."
Li Ze was somewhat surprised, "Really stupid?"
Ishikawa glared at Li Ze. "Madam, is this all you're going to do?"
"Otherwise what?" Li Ze scanned He Xingjue from head to toe with his divine sense. "He looks pretty good."
It doesn't look like there's a problem with the contract at all.
Although it was his first time signing a contract with someone else, he had an inexplicable confidence that the contract was fine, and the problem was with He Xingjue.
Perhaps this contract is not suitable for ordinary people.
