Chapter 172 Farewell

He Xingjue's words moved Li Ze deeply, but he still reminded him, "What if we don't even make it to the cultivation world? We might die in the spacetime turbulence, leaving not even bones behind. Are you willing to take that gamble?"

He Xingjue smiled and said, "As long as I'm with you, what's wrong with taking a gamble? I kill people every day in the world of Void Beasts, and I could lose my life if I'm not careful. But I can't bear to die. I want to live and come back to accompany you to the cultivation world."

The world of the Void Beasts was rich in spiritual energy, so he fought and slaughtered them almost without stopping. Only after he had killed all the Void Beasts in a region could he stop and rest for a few days. This was how he had lived for the past twenty years; he was exhausted, but his cultivation level was also increasing.

Later, the Void Beasts would run away whenever they saw him. He had seen them try to break through the void countless times, but he had not yet mastered their method of breaking through the void. So he wouldn't let them leave, and this went on for twenty years.

His cultivation level had risen to the Golden Core stage, but he still couldn't see Li Ze's cultivation level or sense the fluctuations of spiritual energy on his body.

Following He Xingjue, Li Ze also began to dispose of his assets, donating them all to the Li Ze Charity Foundation.

The two men made little movement, but ever since He Xingjue returned, countless eyes had been on them, and their every move was closely watched. So when there were changes in the assets under their names, it quickly attracted attention.

That evening, He Xingjue received several communication requests, including one from his grandfather.

He Xingjue hesitated for more than ten seconds before finally answering the call.

"You donated all the assets under your name?" Old Master He questioned as soon as the call connected.

After twenty years apart, He Xingjue never expected that his own grandfather would not say a word of concern, but would immediately question him about the inheritance.

He Xingjue was both surprised and unsurprised; he felt nothing at all.

"Yes, they've all been donated," He Xingjue said casually.

"Why did you donate it?" Old Master He's voice suddenly grew louder as he glared angrily at He Xingjue.

"If you want to donate, just donate. Why is there a reason?" He Xingjue looked at the old man on the screen. Twenty years had passed, and the old man had aged a lot.

"You'd rather give your money to a stranger than to your blood relative?" Old Master He's temples throbbed with anger. He looked at his once most beloved grandson with utter disappointment. He couldn't understand how their relationship had deteriorated to this point.

They are clearly the closest people in the world, so why can't they help each other?

Grandpa He raised his own question.

He Xingjue laughed mockingly, "Mutual support? Are you sure?"

"Are you still blaming us for the marriage?" Old Master He's face hardened. "If we hadn't acted on our own initiative, how could you have married Li Ze? If he hadn't married you, with his looks and abilities, he could have easily chosen any member of the royal family. You got a good deal but aren't grateful to us; you're even holding a grudge?"

Grandpa He looked at He Xingjue with disbelief, which showed that he really thought so.

He Xingjue was unwilling to waste any more words on him and changed the subject, "You and your second uncle's family should live well. This is probably our last communication and our last meeting."

"What do you mean by that? What are you going to do?" Old Master He asked.

"Going to a very far place." And there is a high probability that they will not return.

Grandpa He waved his hand, "Even if you're gone for twenty or thirty years, your grandpa will still be alive and well."

Although Grandpa He now has a great-grandson, he is only a little over 120 years old, and it's no problem for him to live another 70 or 80 years.

However, he never imagined that his eldest grandson would never return, and he never saw his eldest grandson again until the day he breathed his last.

That night, when He Xingjue returned, Li Ze was already asleep. He Xingjue went to Li Ze's door and tried to turn the doorknob, but to his surprise, it opened easily.

He Xingjue looked up, his eyes flashing with surprise and relief.

He tiptoed into the room and went straight to the large bed. The darkness couldn't block his vision; he looked at the sleeping person on the bed, and his expression softened.

He Xingjue gently took off his shoes and clothes, lifted a corner of the quilt, and lay down.

A faint, cool fragrance wafted into his nose, and He Xingjue's entire body relaxed. He pulled Li Ze, who was standing beside him, into his arms, rested his chin on Li Ze's soft hair, and let out a soft sigh.

Li Ze groggily opened his eyes, glanced at He Xingjue, then closed them again and fell asleep.

"You trust me that much?" He Xingjue chuckled softly.

Li Ze, who was asleep, did not answer He Xingjue's question, but instead rubbed against his neck and fell into a deeper sleep.

The next morning, before Li Ze even opened his eyes, he heard the voice of a child.

"Who's here?" Li Ze nudged the person next to him.

He Xingjue didn't move away, but instead hugged the person even tighter, "Never mind them, let's sleep a little longer."

"You sleep by yourself, I'm getting up." Li Ze reached for the large hand on his waist.

He Xingjue let go of Li Ze's hand, but cupped Li Ze's face and lowered his head to kiss him.

When Li Ze came out of the room, it was already half an hour later.

"Good morning, boss." Wang Duan greeted Li Ze warmly.

Li Ze nodded to him. "When did you arrive?"

“An hour ago. This time, not only did I come, but my family came too—my parents, my wife, and my daughter and son,” Wang Duan said, waving to his family not far away.

Li Ze was taken aback, looking at Wang Duan, then at the person walking not far away.

“Boss, my people are here too.” Chen Kaiyang pointed to the people not far away.

“Me too.” Xu Zhou chimed in.

"What's going on here?" Li Ze had a guess in his mind, but still wanted to confirm it.

"Boss, are you planning to leave?" Chen Kaiyang asked.

Li Ze remained silent, tacitly agreeing.

“We guessed that you and Commander He were leaving. Are you not planning to come back this time?” Chen Kaiyang asked again.

"Perhaps, even if he comes back, it will be a long, long time from now." A thousand years, or even several thousand years.

Upon hearing this, Chen Kaiyang and the other two looked reluctant, and their mood visibly somber.

Seeing this, Li Ze didn't say anything to comfort him. He had to leave, even if it meant dying in the spacetime turbulence.

He doesn't belong here.

Li Ze met with the families of Chen Kaiyang, Wang Duan, and Xu Zhou. If they were sentinels, he would help them relieve their mental tension; if they were guides, he would teach them some techniques for controlling their mental power; if they were neither, he would give them mechs.

Li Ze's Xuan Ying and He Xingjue's Snow Wolf remained on Vermilion Bird Star, standing like mascots in the most conspicuous place on the star.
