Li Ze remained unmoved; he didn't want to see He Xingjue, much less ask for help.
When the space pirate saw that he wasn't taking the bait, he spat, "Tsk, you're really stubborn! You don't have to beg me, but I'll start a live stream later, so don't come over to watch."
At this moment, Li Ze turned to look at the space pirates and asked, "You have a live stream here?"
"Heh, I thought you were deaf," the space pirate sneered. "Pretending to be indifferent, but you're actually worried sick about He Xingjue, aren't you?"
Li Ze didn't reply, because he knew that even if he denied it, the space pirates wouldn't believe him.
"Call me 'brother,' and I'll show you," the space pirate said with a roguish grin.
Li Ze glanced at the space pirates, then turned his head back to look out the window.
Space pirates: "..."
I really want to punch someone!
Unfortunately, Li Ze's health is too poor; he could easily die, so he can't be touched!
Although he didn't hear a "brother" from him, the space pirate still started the live stream. The battlefield he could see from here was limited, and he wanted to watch the live stream himself.
The space pirates deliberately placed the screen next to Li Ze, side by side with him.
A deafening roar exploded in his ears. Li Ze froze for a moment, then instinctively turned his head, only to see a lightsaber several meters long slashing down at him—
Li Ze's pupils dilated suddenly, and he was about to retaliate when he noticed something amiss.
No energy fluctuations!
It's fake!
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be the space pirate's light screen. The lightsaber wasn't meant to kill him, but rather the void beast within the screen.
At this moment, the lightsaber had already struck the Void Beast's body, cleaving the black Void Beast in two, and a blood mist filled the air, staining the entire screen.
"Stunned?" The space pirate looked at the stunned Li Ze and sneered, "Stunned by your own husband's impressive skills?"
Li Ze blinked. "Was that He Xingjue, the person inside that mecha just now?"
"You can't even recognize your own husband's mecha?" The space pirate suspected that Li Ze was faking it, but judging from his appearance, he seemed to genuinely not know.
But is that even possible?
Li Ze ignored what the space pirates were thinking; his attention returned to the battlefield, or more precisely, to He Xingjue's mecha.
It's no wonder he's an SS-rank Sentinel, the youngest commander in the Empire's history. He Xingjue's control over the mecha is the best I've seen in the past few days. His movements are swift and decisive, with minimal effort, striking the Void Beast's vitals with speed and precision, achieving the best possible effect.
Seeing Li Ze so engrossed in watching, the space pirates felt a pang of envy. If he had such a beautiful wife watching him fight, he could fight even more fiercely than He Xingjue!
The battle lasted for five days and five nights. During this time, Li Ze mostly watched the battle from the window, and would take a nap when he got tired.
As for He Xingjue's battle videos, he only watched them for one day on the first day, and the space pirate didn't come on the second day. Li Ze guessed that he had gone back to fighting.
In the following days, Li Ze didn't see the space pirate again, and didn't know if the man was still alive. Every day, mechs were falling apart in the sea of stars; perhaps one of his was among them.
This wasn't Li Ze cursing him. Li Ze had calculated that by the fifth day, the death rate among the space pirates had reached 60%.
At eight o'clock on the morning of the sixth day, the gunfire outside the warships subsided.
The battle is over. All the Void Beasts within the Death Starfield have been annihilated, and those that were not killed have already escaped.
Next came cleaning up the battlefield and discussing the specific allocation of energy resources on different planets. These planets varied in size and had different energy reserves.
After two days of wrangling among the three factions, Els insisted on giving the Federation and the Empire the two stars deep within the Death Starfield and the fourteen stars on the outer perimeter.
"If you don't give me those two planets, I won't give you the map to those two planets either." Els sneered. Don't think he didn't know why the Empire and the Alliance wanted those two planets; they wanted to piece together a map of the Death Starfield.
They, the space pirates, spent over a hundred years, lost countless lives, and destroyed countless mechs to figure out the distribution of asteroid belts in the Death Starfield. How could he possibly give it away to the Empire and the Federation for nothing?
Besides, once the Empire and the Federation figure out the route to the Death Starfield, will the space pirates still be alive?
With Els refusing to budge, the Empire and the Federation had no choice but to agree. As for the fourteen energy planets on the outer perimeter, they marked them and decided their ownership by drawing lots.
The war was over, the energy planets had been divided, and no one mentioned leaving. The Empire and the Federation couldn't leave because if they did, space pirates would steal their energy from their energy planets. The space pirates didn't leave because Imperial and Federation warships had simultaneously and secretly moved closer to their ships, preventing them from leaving.
"What are you doing? We signed an agreement! You're breaking your promise! Aren't you afraid of becoming the laughingstock of the entire intergalactic world?" In the command room, Els's blond hair stood on end, like an angry lion. He turned to his subordinates and instructed, "Go and bring that Li Ze here."
"There's no need to keep your word with space pirates," He Xingjue said calmly.
"When space pirates slaughter our Federation citizens, they have no concept of faith or righteousness," the Federation commander added.
Els's face was ashen. "He Xingjue, your wife is in my hands. Are you sure you don't want to save him?"
He Xingjue remained expressionless and said in a cold tone, "Anyway, he doesn't have many days left to live, so he might as well sacrifice himself for the empire."
Unfortunately, Li Ze overheard this as he arrived at the door of the command room.
"This is He Xingjue's wife?" A flash of amazement crossed Els's eyes, but that was all. He valued power more than beauty.
“Yes, it’s him,” the subordinate replied.
"Did you hear what your husband just said? He told you to sacrifice yourself for righteousness. What do you think?" Els's rugged face was filled with chilling malice.
"I don't really watch it. I don't want to die," Li Ze said calmly.
These words caused a moment of stunned silence, not only for Els but also for the command centers of the Empire and the Federation.
Els did not expect that Li Ze would directly contradict He Xingjue.
The people of the Empire and the Federation remained silent because they were soldiers, prepared to die for their country at any moment. If any of them were in Li Ze's current position, they would choose death. Hearing the boy say in a cold tone, "I don't want to die," they were somewhat bewildered, facing this situation for the first time.
But, besides death, did Li Ze have any other choice?
Under these circumstances, what would He Xingjue say? What choice would he make?
Before He Xingjue could speak, Els burst into laughter, "He Xingjue, did you hear that? Your wife wants to live, not die. You're a grown man who can't even protect your own wife, what a piece of trash!"
Els is using reverse psychology.
Li Ze didn't speak, and neither did the others; they were all curious about what He Xingjue would do.
"Li Ze!" He Xingjue's cold voice rang out in the command room, "I will attack Els. As for whether you live or die, that's up to your own fate."
