Besides the driver and Lan Shuang, there was a round-faced boy in the car. As soon as he saw Li Ze, the boy smiled shyly.
"This is Zhou Yang, the youngest son of the Zhou family. His family is the largest mecha manufacturer in the empire," Lan Shuang introduced.
Li Ze glanced at Zhou Yang in surprise, then turned to Lan Shuang and said, "Thank you." He had specifically asked the mecha manufacturer yesterday, but he didn't expect Lan Shuang to bring him here today.
"You're welcome," Lan Shuang said with a smile. "You can ask him any questions you have about mechas. Although he doesn't manage the family business, he knows all kinds of mechas inside and out."
Zhou Yang blushed at the praise, "I'm not as amazing as Lan Shuang said. But if I can't answer your question, I can ask my older brother; he knows everything."
"Thank you," Li Ze said again, getting straight to the point, "I want to buy the top-of-the-line mecha."
Upon hearing Li Ze's words, Lan Shuang and Zhou Yang were both stunned, and asked in unison, "You want to buy a mecha?"
What they really want to ask is, why did you buy the mecha? Do you know that your physical condition prevents you from piloting it?
But they didn't dare ask, afraid of hurting Li Ze's feelings.
“Yes, buy mechs.” Li Ze’s tone was resolute.
Lan Shuang and Zhou Yang exchanged a glance, then asked cautiously, "Are you buying this for Commander He?"
“No, I want to buy it myself.” Li Ze retorted decisively, his clear black and white eyes staring straight at Zhou Yang. “What conditions are required to buy the top-of-the-line mecha?”
“The top-tier mechs have always been sold only to military personnel. This is partly because only high-ranking Sentinels can pilot them, and high-ranking Sentinels are almost all in the military; and partly because they are equipped with the most powerful weapons, which means they cannot be sold to ordinary people,” Zhou Yang explained.
"Then I'll buy the top-tier mech without weapons." Li Ze hadn't given up on buying the top-tier mech.
"I can't make that decision," Zhou Yang said apologetically.
"How about we ask Brother Zhou?" Lan Shuang couldn't bear to see Li Ze disappointed.
Zhou Yang nodded. "At the celebration banquet, I will introduce you to my older brother. You can talk to him yourself then. Don't worry, my older brother is a very friendly person."
Li Ze agreed and then started talking to Zhou Yang about various models of mechs.
Lan Shuang wasn't initially interested in mecha, but seeing Li Ze's serious and focused expression, she unconsciously listened the whole way. She only snapped out of her reverie when the driver told her they had arrived.
It's quite a coincidence that today is the final of the Imperial Professional Mech Competition, so she brought Li Ze here.
"We've been talking about mechs all the way here, now we're going to watch a mech competition. How about it? Is my arrangement okay?" Lan Shuang said playfully.
Li Ze raised an eyebrow. "Okay."
“However, the tickets were provided by Zhou Yang; this is a mecha competition sponsored by his family.” Lan Shuang waved the tickets in her hand and handed one of them to Li Ze.
Li Ze took it, glanced at it, and saw that the paper ticket was well-made, but apart from that, he couldn't see anything special about it.
"The competition starts at 8:30. Let's hurry up and get in; we might still make it to the opening ceremony," Lan Shuang urged, leading the way.
There were so many people watching the game that long queues formed at all eight entrances. Seeing the long lines, Lan Shuang and Zhou Yang immediately decided to use the VIP entrance.
Before he even reached the VIP seats from the long VIP passage, Li Ze's face was already covered in cold sweat, and he looked like he was about to faint at any moment.
"Are we helping you?" Lan Shuang asked with concern.
Zhou Yang simply extended his hand.
Li Ze did not refuse, so Lan Shuang and Zhou Yang helped him on either side and slowly walked towards their seats.
"Can you hold on?" Lan Shuang was already considering whether to persuade Li Ze to go back. There were few people now, and the environment in the venue was relatively good. But as more people gathered, the environment would deteriorate. Besides the worsening air quality, there would be deafening, frantic shouting. Could Li Ze withstand it?
“We can actually watch it online from indoors,” Zhou Yang suggested.
"No need. I'm fine, I'll just sit down." As Li Ze spoke, his body was already silently absorbing the malevolent energy within the venue.
The atmosphere in this venue was relatively clean, but perhaps because it could accommodate a large number of people, the malevolent aura it generated was no less than, and perhaps even greater than, that of the underground boxing ring in the Death Starfield.
The three found seats and sat down. Li Ze then closed his eyes. Lan Shuang and Zhou Yang assumed he was tired and resting, so they silently stayed by his side without saying a word.
"Zhou Yang and Lan Shuang, you're here to watch the game too!" The other people in the VIP section spotted Zhou Yang and Lan Shuang.
"Shh—" Lan Shuang put her index finger to her lips, signaling the other person to be quiet, "My friend is sleeping."
"Your friend? Do I know him?" The other person walked around to the front, and with just one glance, he froze on the spot. "Isn't this...that guy?"
Lan Shuang nodded. "It's him."
"He's even prettier than a girl," the other person exclaimed.
As the only girl among the four, Lan Shuang wasn't unhappy at all. "He's not only good-looking, but his skin is also incredibly good. If you look closer, you can hardly see any pores on his face."
Upon hearing this, the man curiously bent down to get closer to Li Ze. At first, he was quite restrained, but the closer he got, the more he noticed that Li Ze's face was as white as jade, as if it were shimmering with a faint glow, so beautiful that it was impossible to look away.
Warm breath sprayed on his face, and Li Ze suddenly opened his eyes, his dark, cold eyes staring at the person so close to him.
"ah--"
Song Duheng exclaimed in surprise; at that moment, he felt as if half of his body had frozen.
"Li Ze, you're awake. Did we disturb your sleep?" Lan Shuang said apologetically. Seeing Li Ze staring at Song Duheng, she quickly explained, "This is Song Duheng. He's the guide. Don't be afraid."
Li Ze was not afraid, so he did not respond to Lan Shuang's words.
Song Duheng couldn't help but roll his eyes. He was the one who should be scared!
As expected of He Xingjue's partner, she's just as frightening as He Xingjue.
As more and more people entered, the venue became increasingly lively and noisy. The VIP seats became increasingly scarce, and soon Li Ze was surrounded by people.
Lan Shuang and Zhou Yang seemed to be quite famous. Everyone would greet them when they saw them, but when they saw Li Ze sandwiched between them, they would all look at them with surprise.
Unsure of Li Ze's character, they didn't greet him, only offering him friendly smiles. Li Ze remained indifferent, not returning the smile, but at least gave them a slight nod.
"My God, the First Prince and the First Princess have come to watch the competition too!" Song Duheng suddenly exclaimed.
Everyone present turned to look at the most honored position, and the moment they saw the eldest prince and princess, they hurriedly stood up and bowed.
Only Li Ze remained seated, not even glancing at the eldest prince and princess they were talking about.
