After advancing to 3S level, He Xingjue's physical recovery ability became increasingly extraordinary. Before Li Ze could even get up from his chair, He Xingjue opened the treatment pod himself and stepped out.
"Don't we need to continue treatment?" Li Ze asked hesitantly.
"My bones have healed, and I can't feel any pain anymore," He Xingjue said, walking to the hospital bed next to Li Ze and lying down.
Li Ze gently covered him with the blanket. "Are you hungry?"
He Xingjue took a moment to assess it, and said, "A little."
"We only have nutrient solution." After such a big incident, the cafeteria staff must have already gone home.
"Then give me a bottle of nutrient solution." He Xing didn't hesitate. He watched as Li Ze took out the nutrient solution, inserted the tube for him, and brought it to his mouth. His expression softened unconsciously.
The bland nutrient solution inexplicably became delicious.
"There was a small accident just now," Li Ze said.
He Xingjue raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
Li Ze briefly recounted the assassin incident, emphasizing that no one was injured during the entire process.
After listening, He Xingjue asked, "And you, do you have something to say?"
"No," Li Ze replied. "Can't you tell?"
"I couldn't tell," He Xingjue said seriously. "Your appearance is too deceptive. You look so weak, but you're stronger than anyone else. For example, those bullets today, aren't you going to explain that?"
Li Ze's expression stiffened, and he said helplessly, "Do I really have to answer?"
“No. But I’m curious.” He Xingjue’s deep eyes stared straight at Li Ze.
He wanted to understand him, really wanted to.
Their eyes met, and for some reason, Li Ze found it hard to refuse.
Li Ze sighed, as if making some kind of compromise, "It's an energy shield. Now, feel it for yourself."
As he spoke, Li Ze placed a protective shield around He Xingjue.
He Xingjue vaguely sensed the fluctuation of energy. He tentatively reached out and touched something transparent, which blocked his view.
"You can try pushing harder," Li Ze reminded him.
Upon hearing this, He Xingjue gradually increased the force until he felt pain in his still-healing hand, at which point he stopped and said in surprise, "Very sturdy."
Li Ze nodded, a smug look on his face, not even bothering to see who had put up the protective shield.
"How come those bullets turned around and accurately hit those people?" He Xingjue asked again.
"It's controlled by both energy and mental power," Li Ze lied without batting an eye.
"So that's how it is," He Xingjue murmured, but in his heart he thought that it sounded so ordinary coming from Li Ze's mouth, as if it were something that could be easily done.
But he knew very well that it would be very difficult to achieve that level.
Even now, without extensive training, he couldn't do it.
After asking around, He Xingjue thought he understood Li Ze better, but the more he learned, the more he realized how little he knew.
The closer you get to him, the more mysterious he seems.
Wasn't he bedridden for years, never even leaving the Vermilion Bird Star before he turned twenty? Why can't he see him clearly?
"Are you feeling better now?" He Xingjue suddenly asked.
"Huh?" Li Ze asked, puzzled.
"You have a genetic disease," He Xingjue reminded him.
"Ah, that... it should be all better now." Li Ze wasn't entirely sure himself. These past few days, he had been tempering this body with baleful energy and demonic power. Although it still couldn't compare to his own body from his previous life, it should have far surpassed the average level of this world.
"How about we do a check-up tomorrow?" He Xingjue suggested.
"No, no need. I feel fine now." This body inherently rejects hospitals, and Li Ze himself doesn't like having various instruments used on him.
Seeing that Li Ze was unhappy, He Xingjue did not force him, "If you feel anything unusual, don't delay, come to the hospital in time."
Li Ze hummed in agreement.
There won't be anything unusual. Even if there is, it will only make it stronger. Li Ze thought to himself.
Although He Xingjue was the only patient in the ward, there were several beds available, one for He Xingjue and one for Li Ze, so they didn't have to squeeze in.
Li Ze was lying flat, but He Xingjue's gaze was fixed on him, and the strong presence made him feel uncomfortable.
So he turned to the side, his back to He Xingjue, and said coldly, "The patient needs more rest; you should go to sleep."
Hearing these cold words, He Xingjue's lips curved into a smile, and he said in a low, husky voice, "Okay. Good night."
Li Ze did not respond. Feeling the burning gaze behind him disappear, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief and soon fell asleep.
He slept soundly until dawn. As soon as Senior Brother Qin pushed open the door and came in, He Xingjue opened his eyes. He subconsciously looked at Li Ze in the next bed and found that the other was still asleep. He immediately put his index finger to his lips to signal the person who came in not to make noise.
Senior Brother Qin gave an OK sign and nodded to He Xingjue, signaling him to come out with him.
Without saying a word, He Xingjue got up and walked towards the door.
He Xingjue closed the door before asking, "Senior Brother Qin?"
"It's an honor to be called 'Senior Brother' by Commander He," Senior Brother Qin said with a smile. "Shall we go next door for a follow-up medical check-up?"
He Xingjue looked at the next room that his senior brother Qin had mentioned. It really was next door, separated only by a wall. He didn't refuse, "Okay."
Senior Brother Qin noticed his concerns and reassured him, "Don't worry, there are police officers guarding downstairs, nothing will happen."
He Xingjue asked in surprise, "Sent by the local police station?"
"Mhm," Senior Brother Qin replied, "It seems to be His Majesty's request."
He Xingjue's expression became complicated. When he heard last night that someone was coming to kill them, his first suspicion was that it was someone from the royal family.
