Chapter 31 Snails

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Pei Yuan raised his brows with his fingers, his voice hoarse. "You spent a long time there yesterday just to do this?" Bao

Ning couldn't tell what emotions were hidden in his tone, and stood there at a loss.

"How about, forget it?" She tried to ask, with a little disappointment in her voice, "It doesn't matter if you don't try, it may not succeed anyway..."

Bao Ning didn't finish her words, and was interrupted by Pei Yuan: "Show it to me."

Bao Ning smiled.

"I'll help you." She took a step forward, put the things in her hand on the kang, and wanted to help Pei Yuan up. As soon as her hand touched his arm, it was grabbed tightly.

Pei Yuan pulled back with all his strength. Bao Ning screamed in surprise and felt the world spinning. She was already sitting on Pei Yuan's lap, with his left hand holding her waist and her chin resting on his neck. The two of them were tightly pressed together.

His masculine scent entered Bao Ning's nose and she held her breath.

Pei Yuan gritted his teeth and whispered in her ear, saying word by word: "You always have the ability to make me want to give my life to you."

...

Bao Ning helped Pei Yuan walk in the yard. He didn't use a cane. He was a little uncomfortable at first, but he didn't need anyone to help him after walking a few more laps.

"It's quite good." Bao Ning looked at him happily, gesturing, "It's just that the belt around the waist is a little tight. I made it according to your previous size. You've gained weight in the past two days, so I'll change it later."

"It's not fat." Pei Yuan glanced at her, "It's just stronger." Bao

Ning didn't argue with him, and agreed, "Yes, stronger, stronger."

This thing is much more useful than a cane, and it can't be seen at all after it is covered by pants. After Pei Yuan mastered the skills, his walking speed was only a little slower than that of a normal person, and he looked a little lame.

Bao Ning quietly watched Pei Yuan walking around in the yard. He seemed to feel unsatisfied, so he brought Saifeng over to get on the horse.

Bao Ning was startled and quickly stopped him: "What are you doing?"

Pei Yuan said:

"Going for a ride." Bao Ning shook her head: "How can that be possible? I'd better get used to it for two more days. What if I fall down because I can't ride steadily? And Aunt Ming told me that day that it's better not to do strenuous exercise and to rest."

She thought for a moment: "You stay here to bask in the sun. I'll make you fried snails." She walked back: "Do you want something spicy or bland?"

Pei Yuan was still holding the reins in his hand and asked in disbelief: "Are you telling me?"

Bao Ning stopped and realized that she had just been talking to Pei Yuan like an old woman. He probably didn't like it.

Bao Ning lowered her eyelids, changed her tone, and smiled at him: "Let's not ride horses for now, let's do it another day, okay?" Her voice was soft, not as relaxed as before, but a little restrained.

Pei Yuan looked at her steadily, and suddenly felt uncomfortable.

He actually asked casually just now, without any accusation or other emotions, but he felt that Bao Ning's attitude towards him today was different from her previous ones.

Now he knew what was different. In his impression, Bao Ning mostly spoke to him in an interrogative tone, with temptation, and never said to him so decisively, what do I want you to do.

She was always gentle and would not clearly express her likes or dislikes. She might like some things, but if he showed refusal, Baoning would give up quickly.

Except last night, Baoning told him that she didn't like maids in the room.

Pei Yuan felt that she was like a rabbit, cautious and constantly testing.

Such Baoning made him feel distressed.

"I'll do as you say." Pei Yuan loosened the reins, walked towards her, and naturally put his arm around her shoulders.

Pei Yuan lowered his head and fiddled with her curled eyelashes with his fingers: "Let's go out for a walk after dinner. Where do you want to go?"

Baoning looked at him in surprise. Not used to it.

She thought for a moment and said, "Can we go to the river? The azaleas are blooming on the opposite mountain. I want to see them."

"Yeah, I want to see them too."

Pei Yuan held her in his arms and walked towards the kitchen. After a moment of silence, he said casually, "Just tell me what you want to do. Don't hide it. I'm not a tiger that will eat people."

Bao Ning looked at him again and said nothing.

She thought to herself that although Pei Yuan was not a tiger, he was almost one. Who knows when he would become so ferocious?

After waiting for a long time without receiving a reply, Pei Yuan pinched her earlobe and said in a bad tone, "I'm talking to you. Do you hear me?"

"I hear you, I hear you! It hurts!" Bao Ning responded to him and raised her hand to save her ear. See, you still say you're not a tiger.

Immediately walking to the door, Bao Ning got out of Pei Yuan's arms and stepped into the house first.

"You look silly." Pei Yuan rubbed her hair from behind.

...

The snails were fried with small red peppers, fresh and fragrant, and covered with a layer of red oil. Baoning tasted one first. It was so spicy that her eyes narrowed, but it was very delicious.

It was not yet time for dinner, so this was a snack. Baoning wrapped the snails with oil paper and washed two pears to take out to eat.

Pei Yuan still sat in a wheelchair. Baoning was afraid that he would feel uncomfortable if he walked for too long, so she insisted on her attitude, and Pei Yuan went along with her. He was not a gentle and kind person. He wanted to change slowly, but he was trying.

Baoning spread a piece of cloth by the river, and the two of them sat on it to enjoy the scenery.

The stream was not far from the yard. It was quite long and wide. The water was not very clear. It was spring, and water birds could be seen. With a long pointed beak and sharp claws, it swept across the water like the wind, stuck its head in, and when it looked up again, there was a big fish in its mouth. Baoning was munching on snails, watching in fascination.

Pei Yuan broke the silence: "Let's go out tomorrow."

Baoning realized that he was talking about Qiu Mingshan and replied: "Okay."

Pei Yuan said: "Why don't you ask something else?"

"What?" Baoning looked at him sideways, with confusion in his eyes.

"What I mean is," Pei Yuan arranged his words, "If you have any opinions or disagreements, please raise them and tell me."

Baoning shook her head: "No."

"Don't be alienated from me." Pei Yuan said, "Look at other young couples, don't they always quarrel? You don't have to think that what you say will make me angry. A few words of quarrel are nothing. If you stay together for a long time, there will be bumps, and your teeth and lips will bleed, let alone a couple."

Baoning said, "I haven't seen what other young couples are like."

Choked by her, Pei Yuan couldn't say the rest of the words.

In fact, he had never seen what other young couples were like, so what he said just now was just made up.

He pulled out the dogtail grass beside him, held it in his mouth, and said nothing more with drooping eyelids.

Baoning continued to look at the birds in the sky. After staying in the deep courtyard for too long, ordinary natural beauty was a luxury, and she couldn't see enough.

After half an hour, the food they brought was eaten, and Baoning helped Pei Yuan up to go back. The two chatted along the way, saying a few meaningless words, but they were not lonely.

Halfway through the journey, they suddenly heard the sound of horse hooves behind them.

Who would pass by in this remote place? Baoning was surprised, and hurriedly pushed Pei Yuan to the side of the road to make way for others.

But unexpectedly, a group of people and horses stopped behind them.

Bao Ning looked back and saw seven or eight people, all dressed in black, with swords on their waists, and looking unfriendly.

Sitting on the tall horse in the front was a handsome and elegant man wearing a purple robe, with fair skin and a gentle smile.

He spoke with a gentle voice: "Fourth brother, it's been a long time since we last met. Have you forgotten that you have a brother like me?"

Hearing this, Pei Yuan's pupils shrank suddenly.

...

Pei Yuan and Pei Xiao were talking in the west room. Bao Ning was outside holding Ah Huang, not knowing where to go.

The yard was crowded with people. The people brought by Pei Xiao stood crookedly, whispering from time to time, and looked at her with ill intentions. That look made her feel dangerous.

Bao Ning couldn't stay any longer and walked out holding Ah Huang.

She didn't walk far, to a grove of apricot trees, which couldn't be seen from the yard. Away from those presumptuous gazes, Baoning felt much more relaxed.

Ah Huang was lying at her feet. The yellow dog had grown a lot, and had eaten a lot, with strong limbs and strong claws. He occasionally caught small grasshoppers in the grass.

Baoning lifted her skirt and sat at the root of the tree, looking far away in the direction of the yard, wondering why Pei Xiao came and how Pei Yuan should deal with it. She was full of worries and had no idea what was happening behind her.

"Woof!"

It was Ah Huang who first noticed the movement. His ears moved slightly, and he suddenly stood up and barked at her behind him. It tucked its tail and arched its body, ready to attack.

Baoning turned her head sharply.

Feng Yongjia stood behind a tree five steps away from her, half of his body hidden, secretly looking over here. Being caught, his face flushed, a little embarrassed, and finally walked out slowly.
